Matthew 18:1-5, 10, 12-14 shows the path to true greatness in the Kingdom. Jesus sets a child before us and seeks the lost with joy. The disciples ask who is greatest. He points to childlike humility. Become small. Receive the little ones. Do not despise them. Their angels behold the Father. Then comes the shepherd image. Ninety nine are safe. One is missing. He goes after the stray until it is found. Joy follows the return. This is the Father’s heart. He wills that none of the little ones perish. Let this Gospel form your steps today. Choose gentleness with children and the poor. Guard speech that could harm a tender soul. Welcome the unnoticed. Pray for parents, teachers, and pastors. Seek those who drift at work or in family life. Bring them back with mercy and truth. Sit with the Lord and ask for a humble heart. Live as a sign of the Shepherd who sees, carries, and rejoices.
