00:00July 11th. The Precious Blood. Fire for the lukewarm soul.
00:06The precious blood of Jesus is not only a cleansing stream for sinners,
00:10but also a fire to awaken the lukewarm. How many souls, though not in open rebellion,
00:18live half asleep, dull in prayer, cold at mass, hesitant to love, indifferent to grace.
00:25Yet it was not a mild devotion that poured from Christ's wounds.
00:30But a blazing torrent of divine love.
00:33The blood of Jesus is not for the passive. It calls us to burn.
00:37His blood is not given drop by drop, but poured out without reserve.
00:43Lukewarmness offends such love more than hatred does, because it responds to passion with apathy.
00:49In Revelation, the Lord warns the lukewarm,
00:53I will spit you out of my mouth. Revelation 3.16
00:57Why? Because they neither fight against God, nor love Him enough to follow closely.
01:04They keep Christ at a polite distance, preferring comfort to sacrifice.
01:09But the precious blood demands a response.
01:11When we contemplate the wounds of Jesus, not abstractly, but truly gaze upon the cost of our redemption,
01:19our hearts should tremble.
01:21This is not guilt. It is the stirring of divine love.
01:25It is a call to repentance, to zeal, to total surrender.
01:29And for those who feel lifeless in spirit, there is no better remedy than meditating on the blood
01:35He shed for you personally, deliberately, and without hesitation.
01:40Saint Benedict, whose feast we celebrate today, knew the danger of spiritual lukewarmness.
01:46In a world collapsing from moral and spiritual decay,
01:49he called his followers to Ora et Labra, a life of disciplined prayer and holy work.
01:54His rule became a lifeline for the church.
01:58Benedict's monks sought not mediocrity, but holiness.
02:02They ordered their lives around Christ, trusting that through prayer, sacrifice, and fidelity,
02:07their hearts could be set aflame again.
02:10The fire that sustained monastic Europe was lit at the foot of the cross.
02:14Saint Benedict teaches us this,
02:16Holiness is not an emotion. It is a decision.
02:20And the blood of Jesus gives us the grace to choose that path daily.
02:23When our hearts feel cold, we must not withdraw.
02:28We must come closer, to the cross, to the altar, to the wounds of love.
02:33There the fire still burns.
02:35Let us pray.
02:37Jesus, forgive me for every moment I have responded to your love with indifference.
02:44Stir my heart again with the fire of your precious blood.
02:48Let it awaken in me a zeal that cannot be quenched by comfort or fear.
02:52Through the wisdom of Saint Benedict, teach me the rhythm of holy discipline, rooted in love for you.
03:01Set my heart ablaze with devotion, and keep me from the dangers of lukewarmness.
03:07May I live in the warmth of your wounds. Amen.
