00:00So I think Detroit is loaded with questions
00:04in a way that is incredibly unsettling.
00:07I think their quarterback is a huge question mark now.
00:13Jared Goff, when not with Sean McVay or Ben Johnson,
00:16has been a disaster in his career.
00:19Now, the sample size of that is shorter
00:21than the sample size with McVay and Johnson,
00:23but it's big enough to say,
00:25I'm not sure Jared Goff's going to be a good quarterback this year.
00:29And defensively, I thought they would be much better this season.
00:34They were better in the second half.
00:36But, again, because you and I see this the exact,
00:39Green Bay said, all right, we'll close that shop.
00:41Thanks, appreciate it.
00:42We don't want to even be here.
00:43They were getting lit on fire to start this game.
00:47So if Goff becomes a question,
00:50and that defense doesn't take a big step forward,
00:53I'm not even sure how good they are.
00:55I think they are one of the most concerning week one teams we have.
00:59Well, because when you, and I've said this,
01:02it's similar to Cincinnati, right?
01:04Well, hold on now.
01:05I know, and I'm touching a nerve.
01:07Hold on.
01:08But Cincinnati makes it to a Super Bowl.
01:10They have an elite player in Joe Burrow
01:12and Jamar Chase and T. Higgins.
01:14They get to the AFC Championship next,
01:17the following year, they lose it.
01:19Yep.
01:19Then all of a sudden, the regression.
01:21It was a beaten down organization
01:24that had never won a Super Bowl.
01:26And we're expecting Cincinnati each and every year
01:29to have this ultimate success, right?
01:33Hopefully they can have it this year.
01:34They won in week one but didn't cover.
01:37The Lions haven't won anything, ever.
01:39They make it.
01:41Did they miss their window of opportunity, Kev,
01:44is basically what I'm telling you.
01:45They're the number one overall seed in the NFC.
01:48I had someone this weekend tell me
01:49they didn't underachieve last year.
01:51Okay.
01:51Well, they're number one seed,
01:55nine and a half point favorite,
01:56a rookie quarterback,
01:58and you get abused in your house by double digits.
02:01And that commanding team wasn't even good.
02:02The Eagles, you destroyed them in the conference.
02:04So my point is,
02:05you make it to the NFC Championship two years ago.
02:08You have the champs dead to rights.
02:11You're losing.
02:12Okay.
02:13Following year, you get the number one seed.
02:15You don't even get out of your first round.
02:17Now here we are with no O.C.,
02:20no D.C. from last year to, you know,
02:22new on both sides of the ball,
02:24and we're expecting them to elevate
02:26to previous expectations.
02:28Why?
02:30That's why.
02:31I never,
02:31and now I said there would be regression.
02:34I never thought they'd be a six-win football team,
02:37but from 14 wins to regress to nine and eight,
02:4110 and seven isn't out of the realm of possibility.
02:43And that's the thing, right, again,
02:44with what should be, you know,
02:46still a strong division.
02:47And if they can't get to the top of this division,
02:49that wild card, it comes down to tiebreakers,
02:51and it could be a crowded NFC.
02:53And that becomes the worry for the Detroit Lions.
02:58And I think where, you know,
03:01there are comparisons for Detroit made of Philadelphia, right?
03:03So Philly's down season,
03:06ultimately, though,
03:07they had still made the playoffs.
03:09It bit them in the wrong point, though.
03:11Right.
03:11But also, they had made a Super Bowl.
03:14So there were some things Philly could hang their hat on.
03:16If this Lions team misses the playoffs,
03:20well, usually,
03:22a disappointment like that,
03:24quarterback or coach has to answer for it.
03:26Right.
03:27Goff,
03:28Campbell,
03:28listen,
03:28I'm not,
03:29I'm not firing Dan Campbell already.
03:31I might be shipping Goff.
03:32I don't know.
03:33But I think the Lions,
03:35again,
03:35it's week one.
03:36Are we overreacting?
03:37I don't think,
03:38I think the panic meter in Detroit
03:41is blaring.
03:42I think people are wondering
03:44when do the Pistons start
03:45playing basketball.
