00:08Republican Roger Ricker of Mississippi wrote the warning in a weekly report published on his website.
00:14He said that if China took Taiwan, it would cause a global economic depression
00:18and undermine the defenses keeping the U.S. safe from China's military.
00:22He added that if China were to take control of Taiwan's vast chip industry,
00:26it could affect thousands of jobs in his home state.
00:29Wicker and fellow Senator Deb Fischer visited Taiwan last month,
00:33meeting with President Lai Qingde and other top officials.
