00:00A U.S. senator has introduced legislation to identify economic measures to deter China from
00:05attacking Taiwan. The bill was introduced by Jim Rich, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations
00:11Committee. If passed, it would set up a task force to identify Chinese targets for export controls,
00:17sanctions and other economic punishments to be deployed if Beijing used military force against
00:22Taiwan. In a statement, Rich says the bill would, quote, hit China where it hurts. Before it can
00:28become law, the bill must pass both chambers of Congress and be signed by the president.
