A US delegation led by Senator Roger Wicker has arrived in Taiwan for a two-day visit that concludes the group's Indo-Pacific defense and security tour. President Lai Ching-te met with the group, with security issues high on the agenda.

00:00Taiwan President Lai Qingde welcomes the U.S. Congressional Delegation, led by Senate Armed Services Committee Chair Roger Wicker and Deb Fischer.
00:11Lai thanked Congress for its multiple initiatives to strengthen Taiwan's security.
00:16Wicker said the U.S. remains committed to the Taiwan Relations Act and other moves to support Taiwan.
00:36He also looks forward to further conversations on U.S.-Taiwan cooperation.
00:41We are here to get a better understanding of the needs and the concerns of our dear friends from Taiwan.
00:53But we're also here principally to bring a strong message of friendship and mutual defense for our two democracies.
01:07Taiwan is the delegation's last stop of its trip across the region.
01:12It also comes before China holds its military parade in early September,
01:16and its lawmakers prepare to review Taiwan's new proposed defense budget.
