00:00In member states of the community of Latin American and Caribbean states,
00:04CELAC issued a communique on Friday strongly rejecting the extra-regional military presence in the region.
00:11Latin America and the Caribbean have been proclaimed a zone of peace, they say,
00:16based on principles such as the proscription of the threat or use of force,
00:21the unrestricted respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity,
00:25the non-interference in the internal affairs of states.
00:29They continue by saying that they reaffirmed their will to combat them as a priority,
00:35enhancing regional and international cooperation and coordination within the framework of respect for international law
00:43and in compliance with existing legal frameworks and international conventions.
00:48Furthermore, they added that the CELAC countries signing this declaration
00:53call for the promotion of a secure environment
00:56and reiterate their firm commitment to defending peace, stability, democracy and development throughout the region.
