Colombia, CELAC calls emergency meeting over U.S. military threat in the Caribbean

The Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), whose pro tempore presidency currently rests in Colombia, has called an emergency meeting for this Monday, in view of the deployment of United States military vessels in the Caribbean.

00:20virtual meeting will be to exchange reflections on the current situation and to make reference

00:25to the possible implications of the military movements promoted by the U.S., Department

00:31of State and their effects on peace, security and regional stability.

00:35For the last two weeks the U.S. has been threatening several Latin American and Caribbean nations.

00:41Some governments have expressed rejection and concern while others have preferred to violate

00:46international agreements in order to place themselves at the orders of imperialism.
