00:00If I was six or seven years old and my mum says, right, your best pal's coming round,
00:09you're going to get dressed up and get your photos taken, I'd be like, great.
00:18I'm Stacey Dooley. Hi! Stacey!
00:22And I'm packing my bags for some more sleepovers.
00:25I'll be coming out of my comfort zone, actually if I fall to my death in Scotland,
00:31to spend the weekend in the homes of Britain's more extraordinary families.
00:36You lead! I follow.
00:38You liken feminism to cancer.
00:46This is Hebrew. Oh, my goodness. I'm so sorry.
00:49Imagine owning an island.
00:52Do you worry about having a criminal record?
00:58My name is Stacey.
01:01Ready, go!
01:05What's the best thing about being a model?
01:07The one.
01:13Pumas don't belong in the UK.
01:15Oh, my God!
01:16I really didn't anticipate this.
01:26Wow.
01:28I mean, this is a really affluent area, right?
01:30Hampstead is very fancy.
01:34I'm in North London to meet a prosperous family that recently settled in the UK.
01:39Mum's American, Dad's from Nigeria, so I suspect they're trying to sort of figure it out, right?
01:50The Omilanas have a seven-year-old daughter, Dior, who is already two years into a career as a child model.
01:57It would be good to hear from Mum and Dad how they're preparing Dior for what she might come up against.
02:07Because we've all heard the horror stories.
02:09You know, the modelling industry can be quite ruthless and can be quite a lonely place.
02:14And there's so much emphasis placed on what you look like and perfection.
02:17Look at this!
02:23Wow.
02:24This is all quite upmarket compared to what I'm used to.
02:28I'm going to have to be on my best behaviour.
02:33This house is enormous.
02:35It's massive.
02:41Hi!
02:42Hi!
02:43How are you?
02:44Look at you.
02:45Hello, sweetheart.
02:46Look at all this.
02:47Come on in.
02:48Hello, Miss Daisy.
02:49Hello, Miss Dior.
02:51Dior, you look stunning.
02:54She wore this just for you.
02:55Oh.
02:56She's been so excited about you.
02:57Hello there.
02:58Nice to meet you.
02:59How's things?
03:00Very, very good.
03:01Good.
03:02How old are you?
03:0314.
03:0414.
03:05Do you need tea or anything?
03:06Coffee, tea, water, tea.
03:07I'll have a cup of tea if you're making.
03:08And, yes, how do you take your tea?
03:10And I know you like almond milk, so we've got your almond milk already unsweetened.
03:14We've done our research.
03:16Oh, God, I sound so middle class.
03:17I hate myself.
03:19I'll just show you where the kitchen is.
03:21Okay.
03:22This is the kitchen.
03:23This is the kitchen.
03:24This is where we usually eat.
03:26But for now, we are going to eat here.
03:31Did I make the fancy room?
03:33Wow.
03:34Special occasion.
03:35With the chandelier.
03:36With the chandelier.
03:37Where I belong.
03:39Surrounded by opulence.
03:41So you're excited about this weekend?
03:44Yes, I'm really excited.
03:46I'm so happy.
03:47We're going to show Stacey her room after she has her tea, okay?
03:51You want to help mommy?
03:52She wants a dash of milk.
03:53No sugar.
03:54Dior is so excited.
03:57She's going to combust.
03:59Keisha and husband Kunle have spent most of their marriage living in LA and New York.
04:07Do you want me in here?
04:08Yes, please.
04:09Yeah, sure.
04:12Kunle came to study in England aged 24 and founded a successful satellite company in the late 90s.
04:19I love your fireplace.
04:21It's going to be a great three days for you.
04:22And how are you, mate?
04:23Very good.
04:24Yeah?
04:25What have you got planned for the weekend?
04:26I game.
04:27I'm a gamer.
04:28Oh, cool.
04:29Yeah, yeah, yeah.
04:30Look at this.
04:31Just let me know.
04:33That's perfect.
04:34This is much fancier than I'm used to.
04:35I've normally got a dirty mug that I've fished out the dishwasher.
04:36I've heard that you're a fancy girl from Luton.
04:37Have you been to Luton?
04:41No.
04:42Look at you, my handsome prince.
04:43You know what, I love you because I was actually meant to make your tea.
04:47I forgot what you're meant to make your tea.
04:52I forgot.
04:53You know how you're going to make your tea.
04:54You know what?
04:55I love you because I was actually meant to make your tea.
04:57I forgot about that.
04:58You know what?
04:59I'm not going to make your tea.
05:00You know what?
05:01I'm not going to make your tea.
05:02actually meant to make your tea I forgot so then you made yours and mine see
05:06that's why I like you you've been together how long um so we met in 2004
05:12and we married in 2006 so we dated two years and then we got married so 2004
05:19in New York actually I love New York so much I miss it every day you from New
05:23York I'm from California originally but I lived in New York for like 20 years so
05:27I'm an honorary New Yorker so this is where I'm gonna be staying yes this is
05:32your room yes if you're bored you can read a dictionary I don't know if I'll
05:37ever be that bored I've got to be honest with you try to make it as much as a
05:42hotel as we can do you all look at your house wow this is real toilet I'm blown
05:51away by this this house is ridiculous it is massive I think there are one two
05:59three four four floors there are four or five floors
06:03the house has seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms Dior even has her very own
06:17playroom so you've got two bedrooms it's a bit low I won't get stuck will I you may
06:27have to do you know when you I will meet you inside Stacy it's been a while I've
06:33been this is Dior and I for Bowden so if you happen to get your business catalog you
06:43might see us so this was our first booking that we booked together stunning
06:49that shot in it of course it was really cool to model like matching mommy and me
06:53Christmas jumpers and so we shot this and we also shot a commercial I can't
06:57wait to see it it turns out that mum Keisha is herself been modeling for much
07:03of her life perhaps a clue to why daughter Dior entered the industry at such an
07:08early age so you yourself you're a model yes I actually started modeling right out
07:15of high school so when it comes to Dior when she showed me an interest that's
07:19why I was like okay and what better way for her to be a great child model than
07:23for it to be her to be guided from a mom who is a model herself I wonder if
07:27there'll be outsiders assuming that you've said right come on to your you're
07:32beautiful you're my little princess and you're gonna be a model right and it
07:36exists most of the time it's the mom or the parent themselves that had a dream
07:40and they didn't reach that dream so the difference here is I'm living my dream I
07:45am a top model so I don't need to push anything on her I'm doing me you want to
07:48do it too okay well great come on along let's do it together we all hear the
07:52horror stories and they're associated with the modeling industry yes I mean how
07:57much how many of them tales are true and how much does that concern you well it
08:03depends on what the story is and what decade it was in I mean are we talking
08:07like Naomi camera era because those were some stories or are we talking like now
08:11where everyone's a model on Instagram so it is for me there's always a story and
08:17there's loads of horror stories but you have to know who you are otherwise you'll
08:21get caught up you have to be strong there were times where I'd walk backstage
08:25and there's like drugs and stuff laying around lines everyone's and I was not
08:29that's not me I mean it sounds like you need such thick skin you do what I would
08:35say is modeling is definitely not for anyone that does not have high self
08:40esteem and a sense of self-worth you have to know who you are and you have to
08:45already know that you're cute you're beautiful and you're the s-h-i-t
08:48Kisha has been around the block has got a career I've got to say I think it's really easy to assume
09:02that when it comes to child modeling there's always a pushy parent and you know there's
09:08always a mom who sort of didn't quite get the opportunity to realize her own dreams so
09:13she's sort of trying to live vicariously through her her child and dad's a real gem
09:18he's such a sweetheart he's doing all the cooking was wearing his little apron
09:22Duran he said he quite likes gaming he wants to be a gamer he's 14
09:29I think Dior is like super confident like a real sort of girly girl loves dressing up
09:36so full of energy I mean she doesn't stop the order three to four modeling jobs a month mostly
09:46at the weekends and she'll be prepping for a shoe in just a few hours time I know so little about the
09:53modeling world even less about what's expected of child models I would imagine they need to be super
10:00confident right they need to be able to interact with adults so it'll be interesting to see how
10:05what the dynamics look like when she's on set with her mom and the photographer yeah I can't wait
10:14to see the photo shoot so I will pass this for you for your salad that enough yeah all right go
10:30are you excited about this afternoon yes I'm staying with a family in North London whose daughter
10:36Dior is a budding child model what makes for a good child model if you're at the one rate even if
10:44something like your shoe or something falls down you don't you don't have to say oh sorry sorry and then
10:51put it back on you just say nothing you just slip it back on and then keep on walking just the show
10:58must go on right yeah and the funnest part what's the best thing about being a model money the money
11:05yep I was about to say the money do you save it do you spend it it goes on to her account that she
11:14will use when she's like 18 mommy said oh her deal is when she books her jobs everything goes into her
11:20account but if she's doing editorial the magazine work just pay 50 pounds oh you love the editorials
11:27because that's where you get the fashion but the money is in like commercials the adverts like Gap or
11:32an H&M so when she books editorials that's her 50 pounds to do what she wants her big jobs they go
11:38into her account and that's untouched until she's 18 by that time she'll hopefully use it Ferrari for
11:45what Ferrari no she's not buying a Ferrari what is a Ferrari it's a car
11:51do your shoot this morning is a promotional film for mini mode a kids wear fashion platform designed
12:03to run alongside London Fashion Week we're about to start and the shoot downstairs in terms of you've
12:12been doing this for years in terms of like direction and how to hit certain angles and the posing how do you
12:20have those conversations with Dior so what I've instilled and taught Dior from my experience as
12:25a model is always give the director what they're asking for know your angles know what they like
12:31listen and make sure that you're following direction so I I teach her those things but for the most part
12:37she just needs to be cute I think of anything worse could I be so cringe I would be so we're getting
12:43you on the runway one of Dior's best friends is a model with the same agency and we'll be joining
12:56her for a duet on today's shoot so nice to meet you I love your name I've got to say cool in it
13:09you excited about today so how are they pals through modeling yeah that we meet up and they're all best
13:16friends so they love it yeah how about Cece she just turned six I can feel the excitement coming off
13:22yeah you're radiate in excitement it's just like the dream as a young girl isn't it if I was six
13:40seven years old I mean mom says right your best pals coming around you're gonna get dressed up you're
13:46allowed to wear makeup you can pick the dresses and get your photos taken I'd be like great you see
13:53do you want anything to drink Cece what a girl Amanda runs the fashion show exclusively for kids an idea
14:06she started in America and recently brought over to the UK do you see a difference with American kids
14:13and British kids I used to always think that yeah kids in the states are more kind of advanced more
14:19more confident more aware but I think kids in the UK are definitely getting more like that they've
14:25they've they've evolved they're changing what makes for a good child model I think it's personality
14:40honestly I think it's personality give us a quick give us a quick show
14:44what's your favorite pose subtle thanks Cece let's go honey
15:06playing dress up with an eager audience is bound to be fun for most young girls but an industry that
15:29thrives on grabbing attention can attract unwanted admirers
15:33what's your favorite part of your look I got mascara because I love this guy so much yeah you
15:43like mascara yeah so what do you like the most about being on set I would say I get all the attention most of the time are you on Instagram yeah are you I've got 10k
15:57you've got 10,000 followers what do people say oh my god she's so cute she's so pretty and also a doggy grown man messaged me and he said you're so beautiful now can you do something for me you know and mum said get lost I bet she did yeah she did yeah I would all go to his house and punch him in the face quite right yes yeah you don't need any of that nonsense
16:21and does mum look after it for you yeah yeah mum's a good one to count on mum's a good one to count on
16:29well sweetie pie so I'm gonna follow you upstairs first when Cece said oh there was this um creepy guy
16:38you know asking me for x y and z you think she's six years old and it just highlights it illustrates how
16:45vulnerable potentially they can be when they're online and they've got that presence we know I
16:50know very well that sexual predators kind of trawl the internet looking for stunning little you know
16:56innocent girls why did you feel like it was important for her to have an Instagram account so it was kind
17:11of just like a little place that I wanted to kind of document her modeling journey I mean she was saying
17:17to me earlier there oh I've got 10,000 followers on Instagram and you can follow me etc yeah and but
17:23then she said there was this dodgy guy and he sent me an inappropriate message I mean that must be
17:30terrifying yeah unfortunately you know when you you know as a celebrity you know when you put yourself out
17:36there and you put yourself in the kind of like the limelight and there's some evil people out there
17:40I monitor her account so I don't let her see anything obviously and then those people get
17:45blocked and reported straight away but yeah it's very sad that we live in a world like that now and
17:50it is quite upsetting I don't want to let those people stop me from doing it or kind of taking my
17:55freedom that I'm allowed to post my child away from me that's a really valid point all my friends put
18:02pictures of their children up because they're their pride and joy yeah she's always fully dressed I
18:08never posed her in her swimwear never posed her in this in like the pool or in a bikini or anything
18:13like that there are strict regulations for how long children can be directed and although this
18:30team are working well within the rules deals initial enthusiasm is starting to wane so look watch mommy
18:38this is what she wants you to do hold your dress look at me don't do it just look at me because
18:43you're not looking why you don't look like you're happy that's wrong okay I'm gonna if I get your chips
18:48now if I get the chips now you smile and do it the right way okay I'm gonna go and get them right now
18:54but you have the promise that you're going to be able to do it sure okay deal wasn't really responding
19:12I guess there's a lot going on isn't there and they do have to listen to lots of different people
19:17in the room and it's work I have to deliver these images just have your snack and get recharged for
19:29your shoot because we remember the energy that you had yesterday when you had the pink dress and you
19:33were twirling like that and just having fun and smiling that's what we need you to have for this dress
19:38hey Stacy I'm retarded now I'm going to get I'm done with my food when she gets hungry we shut it
19:46down she has to eat otherwise she's not on oh see well there we go but if it got to a point where
19:56she wasn't enjoying it and this was happening all of the time right what would happen for me it's it's
20:03it's her choice it's whatever she wants to do when it's not fun and you're not excited then we're not
20:07doing it because you know what she's capable of and you know she has such potential would you be
20:14gutted for me it's those moments when we get to shoot together though that's like the highlight
20:19of my entire life there's nothing that gives me more pleasure than sitting on set with my child and
20:24working with her and like seeing her look at me and go mommy this is the best I'm doing what I love
20:30to do I'm doing my dream and my daughter wants to do it too yes but that is what I would miss but as
20:35far as it just being her it's that's her choice is her life is her choice you want to do it great
20:40you don't want to do it fine what do you want to do okay so let's go master that right girls come in
20:46close and look into the camera ready go as it stands now Dior is seven years old she loves it her mum
20:57loves it she's well taken care of her welfare is a real priority no one's taken advantage of her but
21:05fast forwards what 10 or 15 years it could be an entirely different atmosphere it could be really
21:11ruthless it could be really hostile she won't always have her mum there to protect her and I think those
21:19are valid concerns you know is that kind of environment right for everyone dinner time
21:33approaches in the Omelana households and I'm keen to hear how they found settling in Britain
21:39oh wow I've come to help yeah well that would be great you know you have made the decision to bring
21:49your family over to the UK and build a life here how has Britain treated you and your family I actually
21:57you know very grateful to this country because I had dreams you know could not achieve that dreams in
22:04Nigeria because of the you know limitation of what I could do in Nigeria so I came into this country
22:12finding that I could actually do all these things so first I'm really really grateful for that
22:18and how I mean how is life in the UK because you've been in four years are you happy is at home I'm very happy now
22:36home is wherever the people you love are at as as a young black lads do you feel accepted here oh yeah
22:45there's so many people that are like black and they're here and it's actually it's I feel normal
22:52there's black people white people Indian people Greek people Asian people I've heard a couple of times
23:00people say over here we understand that racism is an issue here but at least it's not as bad as America
23:10what they mean by that is in the US police officers and just white people in general can flat out just
23:18murder a black person and not even go to jail for it right whereas here the racism is here but it's
23:24very passive-aggressive just like England there everyone here is passive-aggressive so so was the
23:29racism less blatant exactly it's certainly exactly we were in Chelsea for like three years I can probably
23:34count on one hand how many times someone even said hello I'm like you hi good morning they look at you're
23:39like you know you're about to grab their bag or something it's the strangest thing so Stacy one of
23:47the things we like to do go around the table and everyone says something that they're grateful for
23:52okay oh I'm grateful that I am rich and that I have enough to have a beautiful house because some people
23:59don't have a beautiful house what are you grateful for I'm grateful for Stacy coming over and I'm just
24:09thankful about my life Stacy your turn I am grateful for my family for my crowd for my pals that I really
24:21love I'm grateful for my handsome chocolate stallion at the end of the table there that I love the head of
24:29our household I'm happy to break bread with royalty and gluten I don't know about that
24:38you've done so well you have to rest now the food was yummy and it's delicious so enjoy while I tidy everything
24:52what is lovely about them is they still seem to quite fancy each other he's doing all the cooking all the
24:59cleaning all the chores it's really kind to one another I've been together years my boyfriend can't
25:05even cook a chicken Kiev I saw not that's no top-up he can't even do a Kiev and I say to him keep it in
25:13foot this is not interesting but I say keep it in for longer than it says on the packaging and he
25:17still gets it wrong I'm curious how Keisha and Kunle's strong bond all began there she is gluten's
25:32finest fine I'm gonna take that I'm wrong with it how did you two meet I know you've been together years
25:39so where did you all start we have met we we met in New York City and I felt the presence of someone
25:46staring at me so I look up and I see this tall handsome man standing there thinking he's going
25:51to get my number I don't know him he came up to me and he was like wow you're the most beautiful
25:56woman I've ever seen in my entire life would you do me the honor of having your number I'd love to
26:01take you out and Stacy I'm like who said who talks like that who is this guy do me the honor like
26:07what and so I just left and halfway down the steps my woman's intuition kicked in was like you
26:13know what he's everything you say that you want you want tall dark handsome and then I said what
26:18are the chances that he's still there and he was still there with his phone in hand smiling like he
26:23knew I was coming back he said ah that's the best decision you've ever made in your entire life I
26:29remember that called my friend who in the restaurant I said tonight you're not having any customer if you
26:36have booked any table you need to cancel everything is there are you crazy I say yes I say I'm having a
26:47date with him one of the most beautiful girls make sure there are rose petals on the floor you shut down
26:54the whole restaurant it's insane how nervous I was I was like when I get nervous I get clumsy and then I
27:01removed my hand I knocked the wine over and I was like oh my goodness everything I did he was it was
27:06okay he was I said I'm so sorry it's like the one the first thing I need to tell you about me I'm clumsy
27:11it was like no matter what I said he was just like oh that's fine it was almost like I'm clumsy yes
27:15it's Sunday and my second day with the family did you have sweet dreams yes
27:36should we sing our good morning song yes good morning good morning to my princess I love you I
27:44love you I love you princess Dior who's the smartest girl in the world me I'm ready for the day yeah
27:55I've noticed an unwavering effort by Akisha to fill Dior with self-confidence oh here she is ah
28:04ah there's Luton's finest I wonder if this could be due to her own experiences in the fashion industry
28:10with either rejection or discrimination this is in this is just so strange I've never been called
28:17blacky burnt toast left in the oven too long or any of those those type of of of horrible slurs by
28:24anyone that was white or non-black it was within my own with my own people that said that so colorism
28:31is like very real and it's very strong and it's very it's very hurtful like no one wanted to be
28:37like dark and like it just it was like other subtle things like most of my friends were light
28:42so anytime they were like going to the dance or if they were like you get picked to do something in a
28:47play I was always the one that had to be like the bat the character that wasn't great or the character
28:52that wasn't cute after a while having that year after year after year it does you know it does
28:57something to your your thought process of who you are and what your sense of beauty is the color
29:03isn't the conversation surrounding colorism is really interesting because obviously I don't know
29:09enough about that but wild that it is black people sort of tearing chunks out of other black people
29:15it's really interesting so I remember asking my mom like everyone is saying that you're not my mom
29:19that I'm actually adopted that there's impossible for you to be my mom because you're so light and so
29:24beautiful and I'm so dark and I'm so ugly so how are you my mom was I really left at the doorstep
29:29in a basket oh I'm about to cry
29:31so let me okay I'm good now my granny she was like my biggest cheerleader and she would just I
29:39remember her giving me my best oh you're just so pretty and black oh look at all this black skin oh
29:44I just love this chocolate I just want to eat you up and I just be like oh so that's why it's so
29:49important as a parent to shower that and instill that into your children so that way when they get
29:54here's something different it bounces off of them going forward with the modeling industry
29:59it can get very sort of toxic and it can all feel a bit more sinister and it can feel a lot more
30:05unhealthy when you creep into the adult world is that a fair assessment yes it's the only industry
30:11that they can say and rip you to shreds on just your appearance alone and you can't do anything about
30:16it and their feedback is so ruthless and so cutthroat like come back when you've lost that festive
30:22weight yeah or your skin's terrible at the minute we just won't use you and you know I've heard do
30:28something about your eyes one thing this way and meanwhile there's nothing wrong with your eyes and
30:31now you start looking at yourself like am i cross-eyed like you start setting yourself
30:34things that you've never even saw before but that that's what so that circles back to the self-esteem
30:39which is huge in our house as you can see like with Dior every morning I greet her with the same song
30:45she knows that in in this domain she is the greatest thing since sliced bread so when those times come
30:51when they say things like okay you will probably get the job if your hair just wasn't so what is this
30:56this fizzy like she that would be foreign to her so I mean that's what happened with me with Pantene
31:00it was like I was the girl that almost never got all the jobs because my hair was too big and then
31:05finally this massive brand comes out and they want to book a girl with big hair who's the first person
31:11the only person they thought about me can I have a quick nose at the hair ad yes you can
31:16look at you oh a stunner in this lavish shampoo ad from the noughties Keisha's star was allowed to
31:28shine catapulting her career I remember just being so happy like yes every second this commercial was
31:35on and it was so it's just everywhere all the time people from it was like for all those people that
31:40were like oh there's no way you're modeling finally they're oh now oh wow you are oh I was
31:44watching my show I've recognized that yeah yeah yeah I bought two properties off that commercial
31:48it was the first time I'm the first in my in my family to work to be a homeowner before 30 I've
31:56made it of course mama I've made it quite right yeah yeah so it was it was great so it was it was
32:01billboards it was commercials it was and it was huge so it was almost like the stamp of not only a stamp
32:08of approval but a stamp of like wow and yes you can be dark like me and still have long beautiful
32:14flowing gorgeous hair a shot she's been there done it like she's been a model for years and years and
32:20years so she understands that there can be that negative side but it's undeniable that the perks
32:27have really worked in her favor and she's got this really beautiful life and she's earned a living
32:31modeling and she's very happy for her child to sort of follow her footsteps Keisha is under no illusions
32:39that being darker skinned was an additional career hurdle but times are changing Dior has been booked by
32:48a magazine which has helped break fashion conventions for young girls of colour
32:52Keisha look at you oh girl you look incredible oh thank you thank you very much so hot so hot
33:09it's time to shoot me your cover of this let's do it so right now we are en route to Dior's photo shoot
33:19she's going to be the cover so I think this is our first cover and the magazine sounds really incredible
33:25so my understanding is it's a magazine to empower young black girls bye daddy I'm literally next to two
33:33actual models let's challenge Stacy to a walk up come on word turn to the left word now turn to the right
33:41word oh no good I think it's in here
33:45what do you like best about yourself what's your favorite part
34:02my hair yes your hair is a whole mood I've come with child model Dior to her first ever cover
34:12shoot I could be your runner I could be your tea lady Miss Stacy could I have some tea please
34:18sounds like me the new magazine Coco Girls was set up less than a year ago by first-time publisher
34:27Selena I must confess I sort of recognize you because I think you did a piece on the news with
34:34your little girl it's been a bit of a whirlwind actually but the fact that so many children have
34:41got it now in schools are subscribing to the magazine is is mind-blowing for me but yeah so
34:46how did it all play out you and your little girl were at home in lockdown he was struggling with her
34:50identity so she wasn't liking her hair or skin tones and we looked up to just find a magazine that
34:57had at least just one image of somebody that looked like her and we couldn't find any so I just went home
35:04and said why don't we just make our own magazine and that's how it began one of the aims of the magazine
35:10is to fight against the established industry view that afro hair won't sell so I'm gonna do the style
35:19that has some cornrows in it I'll probably put some extension in there you're gonna look the part you
35:24can look incredible and with the cornrows like where do they originate from the history behind the
35:30cornrows is that when slaves were captured they would hide gold in it and rice grains I had no idea
35:35after the cornrows it's um you're gonna go with an afro yeah it's very important I remember being at
35:42school and just not liking my hair not liking it and really asking my mum to relax my hair which is
35:50very dangerous straighten it with a chemical that is not you know not good for your hair because what
35:57the media were putting out is that afro hair wasn't nice and having straight hair is but now these young
36:03girls are learning about the beauty of their afro hair the right back in the day when we were younger
36:08you just wanted your hair to be straight straight straight look at you what a vision oh as my granny
36:30used to say oh shucky now oh you look beautiful and then we might have to tweak and then we'll come
36:39back and we'll do the rest of them okay
36:42the images are stunning she look it's funny how a young girl has such a presence
37:07how important is it to you that she's a young black girl because I think sometimes people are
37:17talking about colorism as well yeah where the lighter skinned girls are often favored
37:22and she'd always say mommy you're not black you're not like me when you're working with magazines you're
37:30told that the darker the model then they're going to sell and that's quite you know it's not true
37:36I think everyone is beautiful regardless of shade
37:40there was clearly a gap in the market so prior to this there were little girls like Dior not always
38:01noticing themselves when they're going to get the sweets and the news agents you know what I mean
38:10it's funny isn't it because you always feel a bit emotional when you're looking at how strong you do
38:15the pictures you can't help but feel impressed at how empowering all of these women are
38:24you can't help but feel impressed at how empowering all of these women are
38:30we've got loads of strong black women saying look it's about time there was visibility representation and celebration
38:50That's a wrap!
38:52That's a wrap!
39:02You're the monster!
39:06Duran, Dior, come to the table, please.
39:10We are so happy that you came into our home.
39:12Likewise. Thank you.
39:14I feel a bit mosh, which is ridiculous.
39:16They've been wicked.
39:18So unassuming.
39:20So chill.
39:22I'm really fond of the pair of them.
39:24And I think they're real sort of inspiration.
39:28I wish you could stay for 55 weeks.
39:32My worries have a change of heart halfway through, Dior.
39:36You're the only model I know that eats only carbs.
39:40You're an exception to the rule.
39:44Night-night baby chocolate.
39:46Night-night baby Kiva.
39:48And mama chocolate.
39:50Of course she can walk in there.
39:52She's a mama.
39:54It's my last morning with the family, and I wake with the now familiar sounds of singing.
40:06Kisha sings to her every morning.
40:08I think you can probably imagine what my singing voice sounds like.
40:12Imagine how annoying my talking voice is.
40:14Hello, Dior.
40:15Hello.
40:16You all right, darling?
40:17Look at you in your little outfit.
40:18You know, my personal opinion is I don't see anything wrong with the industry that I've seen.
40:30Boys, it's time to go to school.
40:46I think it's fair to say that some mums are pushy.
40:52You know, there's no use pretending they aren't.
40:54pretending they aren't and some parents are trying to live through their kid but
40:57in this instance in this family it's about making sure their kids recognize
41:02how important they are and how strong they are and there should be no
41:06limitations have a good day at school I wish you had the best day ever and I
41:13love you and I hope you stay forever she will stay forever you take care I love
41:21you as I prepared to leave North London I find Keisha anxiously waiting by her phone
41:28Keisha yours agent Elena says she's gonna call with some updates and things so I
41:34know you never know what the call is going to be if it's great news good news or could
41:38just be a catch-up and this is Elena Wayne Robin I'm nervous so this is Dior's agent
41:46yes Elena I did actually want to speak to you about Burberry you know they're
41:51holding Dior for the week of the 7th yes okay they've sent me an email asking if
41:57we can get her exact measurements okay sounds really positive they want waist
42:01hips and chest and they should now to confirm by Wednesday end of the day so
42:05fingers crossed okay I'm not gonna get too excited I know it's just a hold but we're
42:10just going to speak it out into existence quite positive if they've asked for these
42:14measurements they've only asked for them for a couple of kids so I'm hopeful for
42:18her but if you just ping their name to me I'll let you know as soon as I hear
42:21anything I'm so excited my cheeks are hurting I'm smiling so hard
42:24I'm excited to see Dior come through you never know that really in 10 years time whatever she
42:46could be she could be she could be the next big thing what can I say what are we kids
42:51oh Stacy bye it won't be the same without you though
42:56okay bye
