00:00Oh, Brent Musburger in the building right now.
00:02He'd say, you are looking live at Lincoln Financial Field,
00:06the home of the Philadelphia Eagles,
00:08taking on the Dallas Cowboys in an NFC East hustle.
00:12Clouds tonight, 75-degree temperatures,
00:15light chance of precipitation,
00:17wind speeds under 10 miles an hour,
00:19a perfect night in Philadelphia here
00:22for the returning Super Bowl champions
00:24to take on the Dallas Cowboys.
00:26Joe, it just feels good to say that, doesn't it?
00:30It feels amazing to say that football is now back.
00:36Thursdays will never be the same.
00:38Sundays will never be the same.
00:40In fact, from here on out, Donnie,
00:43when it comes to football,
00:45nothing will be the same for the next five months.
00:48No, it won't.
00:49So let's set the table for the game tonight, people.
00:51If you've been watching all summer long,
00:52we've been previewing this game ad nauseum,
00:54talking about it.
00:55When is it going to get here?
00:56When is the NFL going to kick off?
00:57Well, tonight is the night, people.
00:59And the Philadelphia Eagles are favorites.
01:01About two weeks ago, minus 6.5 price point here.
01:04Now, game night, minus 8.5 as a favorite
01:07for the Philadelphia Eagles.
01:09The total of this game, Joe,
01:10up from 46.5 to 47.5.
01:13Both of these teams coming in primarily healthy,
01:16which is what you love to see.
01:17That vaunted Philadelphia Eagles offense.
01:19Offensive line will be there.
01:21Tight end will be there.
01:22Wide receivers will be there.
01:23Running back will be there.
01:24Quarterback will be there.
01:25And the same thing with the Dallas Cowboys,
01:26who are a little bit banged up in the secondary in the preseason,
01:29look like all their starters will be there.
01:31Minus Micah Parsons, who was traded to the Green Bay Packers.
01:34So let's start here with the line move, Joe.
01:376.5 to 8.5.
01:39Do we agree with that?
01:40Or is the public just saying, wait a second, Parsons isn't there.
01:42They can't win.
01:43Or, wait, the Philadelphia Eagles are just that good
01:45and that much better than the Dallas Cowboys.
01:47No, it's gotten out of control, Donnie.
01:51We talked about this yesterday as we started to see it creep up.
01:54And, you know, you get this closer to game time.
01:56Usually within 24 hours of the game, right,
02:00we usually see the public come running in
02:03and hammering one side or the other.
02:06And in this case, yeah, I mean, we're looking at a Philadelphia barrage
02:12of money coming in to take it from.
02:15And it was prior to the Parsons trade, Donnie.
02:18It was 6.5, right?
02:20So it did creep under a touchdown.
02:22And then all of a sudden after that,
02:24it has just been a steady stream of Philadelphia money.
02:27This is a huge move, Donnie, to cross over 7
02:31and get to 8.5 points.
02:33And really nothing has changed over the last week.
02:38A linebacker is not going to make that big a difference here in the spread.
02:43This is just the public hammering the champs
02:46because they believe Jerry has lost his mind.
02:49Yeah, I'm interested to see, too, because you look at the total, right,
02:5146.5 up to 47.5.
02:53And it does make some sense because you have two really good quarterbacks
02:56and two offenses that should be able to move the football.
02:58My question, like with the Philadelphia Eagles,
03:00isn't how is the offense going to do?
03:01I'm expecting great things out of Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley
03:04and, you know, Smith and Brown at wide receiver in that offensive line,
03:07which now you don't have to go up against one of the most feared pass rushers
03:10in the NFL, Micah Parsons.
03:12I think the Eagles move the football.
03:14But the question is going to be is how effective can the Dallas Cowboys
03:16move the football against Vic Fangio's defense?
03:19Now, in the past, whenever you've seen Dak Prescott go up against the Philadelphia Eagles
03:22in the regular season, he's been a really good quarterback.
03:24And it's not as if he doesn't have weapons.
03:26The running game, I don't like all that much for the Cowboys at all.
03:28But if you're talking about Dak Prescott here and you're lining up with CeeDee Lamb
03:31on one side and George Pickens on the other, you should be able to move the football.
03:35And you're right, Joe.
03:36It's opening day.
03:37Like if this game was in like week number four, like, okay,
03:39I know exactly who's going to be playing in this game, exactly how they've been doing.
03:42Are they going to be like on the up-tempo, back-tempo, playing well, not playing well?
03:46We don't know because these guys haven't taken a lot of snaps over the summer
03:49in game situations.
03:51Now you show up on opening day, which tends to be sometimes a little bit sloppy.
03:54So if we are looking from the total perspective, Joe, 46.5 to 47.5,
03:59I'm not worried about the offenses.
04:00I think there's a legitimate chance that we could get close to 50 points tonight.
04:04The other problem we have here, though, Donnie, is that,
04:07and that's why none of this makes sense,
04:09this big line move up and over a key number of seven in the NFL,
04:14is that the total had already been that up.
04:17It was 46.5.
04:18It's been 47.5 now for a while.
04:21My question is, well, how does the total not correlate to the move to 8.5?
04:28Because now you're saying, at this point, it should either go, hey, this is blowout city,
04:33that according to the spread, the market thinks that the Eagles are going to run away with this game,
04:38and that means Dallas probably not going to contribute a lot.
04:42That's why it hasn't moved down or it has stayed the same.
04:45But if this is a crazy shootout and you still expect them to win by more than 8.5,
04:50how is this total not moving up right now?
04:53Yeah, and again, we'll see because there is a little bit of drizzle in the forecast.
04:56But again, you don't worry about that in the NFL.
04:58What you worry about is, okay, it's going to be a blinding rainstorm that you would get,
05:03like let's just say you would get in South Florida early in September,
05:05or 50-mile-an-hour winds like, hey, man, you can't punt, kick field goals,
05:09and we're just going to be trying to pooch punt down the field at times,
05:11and we can't play offense in the first and third quarter because we don't have the wind at our back.
05:15That's not going to be the question.
05:16I just want to see how over the course of a game, because even though, Joe,
05:20it's not South Florida, as we have to say, like on a Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock,
05:23like, oh, my God, we're not used to this heat and humidity for 80 plays.
05:27It's still going to be heat and humidity.
05:28And for guys that have worked out hard in practice, it's completely different, Joe, as you know, to a game.
05:32Once you get in this game tonight, 75-degree temperatures, by the end of the first quarter,
05:36you're going to feel like you played an entire 17-game schedule
05:39because your body's not used to the contact and also the excitement
05:42and all the evolutions that you're going through in a game.
05:46Now, I do like the Philadelphia Eagles defense, quality defensive line, quality secondary.
05:49But at the same time, we just don't know how they're going to react.
05:52Some missing pieces and different pieces for what the Philadelphia Eagles had last year.
05:55But don't we agree, though?
05:57It just seems like it's going to come down to the quarterbacks.
05:59If Jalen Hurts plays well, their offense is much better than the Dallas Cowboys.
06:02But if that Prescott finds some things, and you're talking about a new head coach
06:06that's going to be calling the plays, some different wrinkles in the formations
06:09for the Dallas Cowboys could help them on offense.
06:12Yeah, but again, Schottenheimer has been there.
06:15So it's not like he wasn't part of this offense with Dak and company to begin with.
06:21But I think what—
06:22Yeah, listen, there's a lot of newness going on in Dallas right now, including George Pickens.
06:29But if we compare it to just what we know about them a year ago, this is a different Cowboys offense, guys.
06:37Everybody is healthy.
06:38You know, Dak wasn't there last year.
06:41Pickens wasn't there.
06:42Jake Ferguson got hurt early on in the year, missed half the games.
06:46There is a lot different about this Cowboys offense than it was a year ago.
06:52There are more weapons now healthy than we have seen in a while with the Dallas Cowboys.
06:58No more Mike McCarthy there trying to run plays through.
07:01Schott is going to get that chance to do it all by himself in prime time tonight in Philadelphia.
07:06So we set the game table, right?
07:08You know the spread.
07:09You know the total.
07:10You know the general thoughts.
07:11But let's get into some of those prop numbers that are so much fun to take a look at
07:14and some advantages that we might have.
07:16It's the early line on the Sports Grid Network.
07:18We're breaking down the NFL.
07:19And, oh, it feels good.
07:21It's banner night in Philadelphia.
07:23Philadelphia's going to drop another banner.
07:241995, the last banner dropped in Dallas.
07:2799.9% of Dallas fans have never even seen a Super Bowl run for the Dallas Cowboys because
07:32they never have Super Bowl runs.
07:34But the Philadelphia Eagles have made a habit since 2017 of getting to three Super Bowls
07:38and winning two of those Super Bowls.
07:41So as we start to kick off tonight, I love the props.
07:44They're back in our lives.
07:45Hey, Joe, what's the side?
07:47What's the total?
07:48Who are they playing week number three?
07:49Out the window.
07:50Let's take a look at the quarterback matchup tonight between Jalen Hurts and Dak Prescott.
07:54Passing yards prop, looking at some of the live updated numbers, Jalen Hurts 212.5.
07:59Dak Prescott 248.5.
08:00They do correlate in that respect.
08:02Why?
08:02Because the Eagles have a dominant running game and the best back in football in Saquon
08:06Barkley and a mobile quarterback in Jalen Hurts.
08:08If you are Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys, you're not necessarily looking to rely on the
08:12running game tonight.
08:13And if you are eight and a half point dogs, you're probably going to be passing more than
08:16the team with the lead and the Philadelphia Eagles.
08:18If you look at some of those statistics, which also, Joe, include passing touchdowns, both quarterbacks
08:23at plus money, over one and a half for Jalen Hurts, plus 120 price.
08:27And looking at Dak Prescott, over one and a half at a plus 112 price.
08:31If we're looking at quarterbacks tonight prop-wise and even, Joe, you can throw in a rushing touchdown
08:35for a quarterback.
08:36Where are you going tonight in the quarterback marketplace?
08:39Well, I think you have to be careful, Donnie, with, you know, week one.
08:44Here we go.
08:45First game, Cowboys and Eagles, two teams that, you know, certainly have the weapons in order
08:51to throw up a whole lot of points.
08:53But you also, don't bet against yourself, Donnie, right?
08:56If you have a bet or a side here, correlate your prop bets to what it is that you think
09:02is going to happen and who's going to win a cover of this game.
09:04If we think this isn't over, Donnie, then I think the best way to approach this is, if
09:11you think Dallas is going to be playing from behind, that means Dak Prescott is going to
09:15be throwing more often than not, right?
09:18If you can't run on Philadelphia and all of a sudden you're playing from behind, then I
09:23think passing attempts, I think yards for Dak Prescott, I think all of that is in play
09:30here.
09:30I totally anticipate Dak having to drop back and throw more than what Jalen Hurts is going
09:37to have to do in this game.
09:38And you take a look now at the running back position, certainly going to be dominated by
09:42the Philadelphia Eagles because they're running game much better than the Dallas Cowboys.
09:45Saquon Barkley, 93 and a half rushing yards for him.
09:48Starting running back expected for the Dallas Cowboys, Javante Williams, only 34 and a half.
09:52The quarterback rushing yards, Joe, Jalen Hurts, 40 and a half rushing yards and Dak Prescott,
09:57seven and a half rushing yards.
09:59If we're looking at the running back market for me, of course, you're expecting Saquon
10:02Barkley to get 15 to 20 touches and if the Eagles are winning, that's extra carries in
10:06the fourth quarter.
10:07But I always love like game one, game two, game three, where everybody's healthy, including
10:11the quarterbacks.
10:12Maybe we get spry out there, but are you looking more from an Eagles perspective on the running
10:15backs and the running game or Dallas maybe sneaks with some of those low numbers?
10:20Yeah, I think Dallas is the way to look in the prop betting market here.
10:24Simply because they are going to have to score in order to upend the Eagles here, right?
10:31If they are going to stay within this, they are going to A, have to try to get off the
10:35field as best as possible.
10:36But B, they are going to have to try and take their shots against this defense because the
10:42defense of the Eagles currently right now, the biggest question marks are in the secondary.
10:48So they got a lot of young players there.
10:49They did have some injuries.
10:51So the question is, are they going to be able to take advantage of it with Pickens and CeeDee
10:56Lamb and even Kevante Turbin for that matter?
10:59Can they go ahead and take advantage of what might be a soft spot right now of the Eagles?
11:04I think they got to try, Donnie.
11:06So I think the props, certainly from that perspective, should be focused on Dallas tonight.
11:13Yeah, CeeDee Lamb, 71 and a half, top dog on the Dallas Cowboys, top dog on the Philadelphia
11:17Eagles.
11:17It's A.J. Brown at 69 and a half, two second fiddles here who are very good second fiddles.
11:23George Pickens, 55 and a half, followed by Devonta Smith at 53 and a half.
11:26I always like to go down the board, right?
11:28Everybody's like, oh, CeeDee Lamb should have a big night, and he should.
11:30A.J. Brown should have a big night, and he should.
11:32Those are the expectations.
11:33But I always like those secondary and third options.
11:36Like Jahan Dotson was anywhere between five and a half now to seven and a half for his receiving
11:40prop.
11:41Is he usually in the offense?
11:42Not necessarily.
11:44Had a couple catches against Green Bay.
11:45Had a couple catches in the Super Bowl last year against Kansas City.
11:48We're coming out of Philadelphia.
11:49He's had a very good training camp.
11:50All you're looking is for one target from seven to eight to nine yards, and you cash in
11:55that ticket.
11:55There's a lot of fun ways to go.
11:57But you're looking primarily, Joe, top of the standings there.
12:00CeeDee getting his.
12:01Well, I mean, you bring up a great point, though, Donnie, right?
12:04I mean, the market is going to be totally overvalued with CeeDee Lamb and Pickens.
12:09It's certainly in the TD market, right?
12:12Well, what about Kevante Turbin?
12:13What about that third guy down the list, right?
12:16What about Jake Ferguson?
12:18What about those guys?
12:19I wouldn't focus on CeeDee Lamb and Pickens for this game.
12:24Value, value, and more value down the list you go here.
12:27I can't believe it.
12:28We're finally breaking down a live football game tonight, 8, 15 p.m. Eastern from Philadelphia
12:33at Lincoln Financial Field, the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles.
12:37And in this show, we ain't done with this game.
12:39We'll get back to it here.
12:40Let's go around the NFL for more news and notes from yesterday.
12:43The red zone.
12:44People be in the red zone tonight, Joe.
12:46Hey, somebody's going to get inside the 29.
12:47By the way, if nobody gets in the red zone tonight, come on now.
12:49You can't have that in the NFL.
12:51Stop.
12:51It's not week one, week zero in college football where the offenses aren't ready.
12:54These are paid professional athletes that we know are at the top of their game.
12:58So points are expected tonight.
12:59There is no red zone, Joe, on a Thursday night.
13:01The red zone is on Sunday afternoons.
13:03And that's our topic of conversation because we don't like change as a society.
13:07And even if the change is good, we still might, well, I don't know about that.
13:10Like, you don't like changes on, you know, television shows.
13:13And, hey, wait, I was watching Jaws 1 and Jaws 2.
13:15Was there different actors there?
13:16I don't like this anymore, even if the movie is good at that point.
13:19We're talking about the red zone here and adding commercials, which Joe is right to start
13:23the show.
13:24There have always been commercials.
13:25But if you just reiterate, there's going to be a little bit more commercials, people
13:28lose their mind.
13:30Now, hear us out on this, because this is the part that's funny, right?
13:32You see some of the, you know, Twitter clips and people making GIFs of, all right, Josh
13:37Allen's about to score a touchdown.
13:38Now, here's whopper, whopper, whopper, whopper.
13:41And a three-minute commercial comes back and you missed six touchdowns.
13:44That's not going to be the case.
13:45You're going to have like, you ever watch like the PGA, what they call like the playthrough
13:48commercial?
13:48Like, hey, watch Scotty Scheffler tee off.
13:50But here is a Charles Schwab brokerage and they play that 30-second clip.
13:54We can live that.
13:55We just don't want to see a true commercial break from Scott Hansen and the boys.
13:59You're not going to get that.
14:00So if you have the quad box and one of those boxes is showing a whopper commercial, that's
14:04the new world we're living in.
14:05But as soon as you hear commercials, when Scott Hansen needs to say seven hours of commercial
14:10free football, that's now gone, Joe.
14:13No, now it's just seven hours of football is what you're going to get.
14:17And you're right, Donnie.
14:17I mean, and people forget.
14:20And this should be, it's so funny because everyone is screaming and yelling.
14:24But what they don't remember is that they did it last year.
14:27Guys, they had the double box format all throughout the red zone game.
14:31And most of us who are watching it or you're out at a restaurant or a bar or something and
14:38you're a sports bar and you're watching it, Donnie, right?
14:40You don't have no idea what's going on there.
14:43Like they split the screen.
14:45They do that.
14:45They did it.
14:46And they started doing it in NASCAR years ago.
14:49And then all the other sports kind of Scotty shed the PGA tour.
14:53You're never not without the games.
14:56The only thing is you'll be without the audio because the audio will be about the ad and
15:02not the game.
15:03But at that point, most people usually watch the red zone with the sound off because they're
15:09usually out somewhere.
15:11Yeah.
15:11And also with the red zone too, it's like, you know, it's a great format to have, but
15:14even it used to be greater when not everybody had the ticket in their house.
15:18Like I remember having cable and also having to get the dish for direct TV.
15:22Most people are like, well, I'm not going to spend on that.
15:23And the red zone came in key.
15:25And the red zone is fantastic.
15:25Like if you just want to get in and say, let me pop that on.
15:28I don't really, my team's not playing at one o'clock.
15:29I just want to watch all the games and watch my fantasy team.
15:32It is a great product to have.
15:33But now that you can just go on YouTube and get any game you want live and watch whatever
15:37you want, it changes the game a little bit.
15:39But the NFL, it is a business.
15:40It's why tickets show aren't five bucks.
15:42Like they were like in 1965, like tickets are high.
15:45That's why when you drive to a game, like, wait a second, I just paid $125 for a ticket.
15:49You're telling me I got to pay $40 to park in a public parking spot here to get in.
15:52Yes, because they can make more money.
15:54Wait a second.
15:54There's two preseason games, three preseason games.
15:57Why does my ticket say full price when nobody's going to play?
15:59Because they can and because they want the revenue.
16:01Same thing here in television.
16:03If they could have three more commercial breaks during the first hour of a football game,
16:07they would do it.
16:08Now, granted, that would drive some people away and away you go there.
16:10But the red zone is going to have commercials.
16:12We'll deal with it.
16:13And trust me, by week number two, you won't even notice it anymore at this point.
16:16Just change sometimes.
16:18You don't like it.
16:19That's changing.
16:19Deal with it here.
16:20You know what else is changing?
16:21The New York Jets offensive line.
16:23Vera Tucker's down.
16:23Now, that's not a good sign entering into the season with a quarterback that you want to be able to make through his progressions
16:29and going up against a pass rush heavy defense in the Steelers.
16:34Oh, boy, Jets.
16:35Watch out.
16:36Yeah.
16:37I mean, again, this is why we can't have nice things, Jet fans, right here.
16:42This is exactly example number one.
16:44So, this was supposed to be.
16:47And I was shocked.
16:48We got to this point in the season, right?
16:49We're like, wow, the shoe hasn't fallen here.
16:52Like, this has actually been a good thing.
16:54And then, of course, we learned yesterday that a triceps injury is now going to put one of the, you know,
17:02the anchors of this offensive line for the Jets, which they actually invested in to make it much better this year.
17:09It's always been a problem for the Jets.
17:11But they have 26-year-old Vera Tucker here who they had traded for a couple of years ago.
17:17And he was a captain.
17:19They named him captain.
17:20I mean, this was going to be the year.
17:22And now he tears his left tricep, which, by the way, in 2022, he missed the rest of the season in October when he tore his right tricep.
17:33So, at least he knows what the rehab is, I guess, maybe if you look at it that way.
17:38But that's just an absolute devastation, much like the Chargers losing, you know, Slater early on.
17:45Some guys just, it's not good for the offensive line early on in the season, especially.
17:50Do some of those tricep extensions out there, people.
17:54Come on, build up that tricep muscle.
17:55You can make it through an NFL season.
17:57Here's what we usually hear about.
17:59I don't want to play for this team.
18:00I want a new contract.
18:01I want to be traded.
18:03And the NFL team goes, calm down over there.
18:05Number one, we're not going to pay.
18:06We're not going to trade you.
18:07We'll see week number one.
18:08I'm not going to show up.
18:09That's Jacoby Myers, right?
18:11He wanted to get traded.
18:11He didn't.
18:12He wanted a new deal.
18:13He doesn't have it.
18:14And you know what he's saying?
18:15Well, I can't miss that game check.
18:17I'll be there, game number one.
18:19There goes your leverage for Jacoby Myers.
18:21They might be able to work out a deal.
18:22He's not happy, but you're never too unhappy to not play in a game and not get a game check.
18:29Yeah, I mean, come on with this.
18:31Really?
18:32Of course you want to get your game.
18:34That's all it is.
18:35Isn't it amazing, Donnie?
18:36Have you seen a sport in which guys change their tune faster than the NFL?
18:44Well, especially, I mean, the threats and the I'm this, I'm that, I'm done, and then all
18:49of a sudden you start, you look at the checkbook and you're like, well, all right, maybe I'm
18:53not done, Donnie.
18:54It happens more so in the NFL than it happens in any other sport, doesn't it?
18:58It does.
18:59And you take a look at some players that just have to cave.
19:01Like, I want the world.
19:03Like, remember Trey Hendrickson?
19:04I'm not moving all $40 million a year.
19:06Hey, buddy, we'll bump up your salary to $30 million.
19:08You'll be a free agent next year.
19:09Do you want to miss game checks and get fined?
19:11Do you want to play?
19:11I'll play.
19:12I love it.
19:12Can't wait to get back to Cincinnati.
19:14Juwan Jennings was like, you better pay me a lot more money.
19:16Go, you know what?
19:17We're going to give you a little bit more money, but you got to prove it on the field.
19:19You're not going to get this money until you absolutely excel in the field.
19:23Excentives added to the contract here for Juwan Jennings as they agreed to a deal.
19:28And now at least they have a heartbeat at wide receiver.
19:31Yeah, they do.
19:32And listen, it's a big incentive-based, obviously, bonus.
19:36But given the state of the wide receiver room there, I mean, he was set to make, what, $7.5 million so he can add another $3 million on top of that.
19:47He is a free agent next year.
19:49So he's in basically one of these prove it years, right, Donnie?
19:53Like put up or shut up.
19:55So that kind of motivation with a guy, an extra $3 million, yeah, a lot can happen here.
20:01I like the move by the 49ers because they're basically telling him, all right, we'll give you $3 million, but you're going to have to earn it.
20:07And he'll have an opportunity to do that with this wide receiver room.
20:12Exactly.
20:12Earning cash here, it's something the owners love to do, printing money here.
20:15But also, it seems like we're getting a lot more of these type of moves where the franchises are worth so much that it's like, I want to have my cake and I want to eat it too.
20:24Look at the New York Giants here.
20:25They sell a 10% stake in the Giants to the Koch family here.
20:28They still run full control, make a ton of money.
20:30They get 10% of a multi-billion dollar organization in your back pocket to spend while you're here alive and enjoy your time.
20:38My goodness, man.
20:39You want to talk about like real estate investments.
20:41Like, hey, always buy real estate, man.
20:42Always buy an NFL professional team.
20:44Like, look at all these guys that got in like five, six, seven, eight years ago.
20:47And the franchise is up like 75%.
20:49Cashing in tickets here, the Giants did it.
20:51The Philadelphia Eagles did it.
20:52The San Francisco Giants did it.
20:54It's the way to do it.
20:54It's the 49ers.
20:56They all do it.
20:56Seems like a thing to do.
20:58So it was funny.
20:59Roger Goodell back in 2010 had made a speech in which he said by 2027, the NFL, his projection is, would hit $25 billion in revenue.
21:13Now, Donnie, this was in 2010.
21:15It was unthinkable, right?
21:16You know how much they made last year?
21:18$22.2 billion, which was up 8% from 2023.
21:24What do you think it's going to be next year?
21:27Unreal.
21:27I love this, man.
21:28The sky is the limit.
21:29Every single year, these guys just print money.
21:32And you always say, like, when is enough enough?
21:34Like, we see food prices going up, right?
21:35It's like, hey, I'm not paying more than $10 for that steak.
21:37It's $25 now.
21:39And you know what?
21:39You're still buying it.
21:40I can't afford to go to these Eagles games or NFL games anymore.
21:43Yep.
21:43I just renewed my season ticket.
21:45It's going to pay $50 to park and $20 for a beer.
21:47And I'll be right back next week here.
21:49For some reason, we love to say, that's too much money.
21:53Here's my money.
21:54Take it from me here.
21:54And the NFL probably will get that $25 billion craziness, as it turns out.
21:59Are you ready for some football?
22:02Yes, you are tonight.
22:03Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys.
22:05But that's not what we're talking about just now.
22:06We are going to get back to that game and hit it double down style.
22:10But before we get there, Friday night, we got some action in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
22:13If you watched last year, Joe, it was the Philadelphia Eagles, and it was the Green Bay Packers, a battle in the NFC that could provide maybe some bragging rights.
22:22And also, who has the key to the rest of the season by getting that edge by beating the team head-to-head?
22:27Philadelphia Eagles won that battle in an ice skating rink here.
22:30Big days out of Saquon Barkley in his debut, A.J. Brown.
22:33You also take a look at the Philadelphia Eagles defense, making a couple stands late in that game.
22:36And if you remember, Jordan Love, some scariness that they thought he might be down for the season with an injury late in that game.
22:42Ended up coming back for the Packers.
22:43The Packers made the playoffs, but lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, who were the home team.
22:47We got a big battle tomorrow.
22:49That is the Chargers and the Chiefs.
22:51And if we're looking from a quarterback perspective, we got two good quarterbacks here.
22:54Patrick Mahomes, one of the best of all times, going up against Justin Herbert, who's still looking to make his mark by saying, you know what?
22:59I can get to the playoffs, and I can win playoff games.
23:02If we look at their passing props in Brazil, 240.5 for Patrick Mahomes, 231.5 for Justin Herbert.
23:08If we look at the quarterbacks themselves, because I expect more out of Patrick Mahomes this year than I got last year.
23:14I expect maybe not a higher-tempo offense, but more deep shots down the field.
23:18I never know what to expect, though, Joe, out of Justin Herbert.
23:21Not because he doesn't have the arm talent.
23:23He does.
23:23One of the elite arms in the NFL.
23:25It's that, what is his coaching staff going to allow him to do, Joe?
23:29Yeah, and that's the big question, right?
23:32But the good news is the Chargers and Najee Harris, Harbaugh, said that he is playing.
23:39He is ready to go.
23:40He didn't see any action in the preseason because of the July 4th incidents, which, by the way, is getting even crazier.
23:48Like, he refuses to talk about it.
23:51He says it's a humbling experience.
23:53He's just glad everyone's okay.
23:56Meanwhile, he's going to be wearing sunglasses a lot during the season.
24:00So, yeah, so, I mean, I don't know what happened with that 4th of July incident, but the good news is they will have their full complement of running backs.
24:09But I still go back to, I find it very interesting, the approach to this preseason from the Kansas City Chiefs, that starters played, Donnie, significant time in all three of those preseason games getting ready to start here.
24:24So, maybe the taste in their mouth last year about how things ended, they used that as motivation.
24:31I don't think we're going to see a sluggish Kansas City offense coming out against this Chargers team.
24:37I think there's a reason why we've seen the money, the sharp money especially, on the Kansas City Chiefs.
24:43Yeah, by the way, you talk about running backs, right?
24:45There's two words that always come up, speed and vision.
24:49I mean, what's up with the vision here for Najee?
24:51You got to have sunglasses on.
24:52Remember, let's even go, like, we use Rocky references because the Philadelphia Eagles are playing tonight, and you're going to see a lot of Rocky references, you know, noticed tonight on that telecast.
25:00But remember when he goes to see Mick, he's like, man, I want to get back in the fight game.
25:03And Mick's like, slaps him in the side of the face.
25:05You didn't even see it coming right there.
25:07Like, that's Najee Harris.
25:08You're going to see a linebacker that's going to be drilling you, and you didn't even see it coming, my goodness, here at this point.
25:13But if we are looking at this game itself, and you say, all right, well, Donnie, set the table for it.
25:17Who's the favorite in this game?
25:18Well, it's the Kansas City Chiefs by a field goal.
25:20The total, 46 and a half.
25:22So, similar to tonight on that total, tomorrow, I don't know how I bet this game, Joe, because not being scarred from last year, like betting-wise, but just seeing the field was a complete mess.
25:33It's almost like I have to get a feel for this game.
25:35I want to get the pregame reports because you always know, Joe, the beat reporters are on the field, the sideline reporters.
25:40Hey, just talked with Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid.
25:43They're worried about, and they brought 17 pairs of shoes tonight to try to make sure they have it right so they don't slip and slide like we did last year.
25:51How do you approach this game knowing it was a disaster on the field last year and we're playing in the same field?
25:56Yeah, it is a disaster, but who better to play in conditions to back than the Kansas City Chiefs and Mahomes, who have played in minus 12 degrees, have played in wind star.
26:08It's not exactly sunny South California here, like where the Chargers are playing indoors.
26:15So, if the elements are an issue, it is absolutely advantage to the Kansas City Chiefs as far as I am concerned.
26:23And listen, with the Chiefs, they spent a lot in the offseason figuring out their offensive line issues and protecting Mahomes.
26:30You said it.
26:31You protect Mahomes and give him time, he's going to eat you alive here.
26:35And I think that's really what that game is going to come down to.
26:39Yeah, I do.
26:40I expect big things from the Kansas City Chiefs, and it says something, but you usually get that hangover when you lose the Super Bowl.
26:45Well, that's under a normal franchise.
26:47Like, oh, man, it's been 30 years since we got to the Super Bowl, we got there and lost.
26:50The Kansas City Chiefs are used to getting the Super Bowl, winning and losing.
26:53Nothing new to them.
26:54Not as if they're going to have a layoff this year as they try to put a championship run together.
26:57The Kansas City Chiefs are the favorites to win the AFC West at a minus 110 price.
27:01Broncos plus 280, Chargers plus 340, and the Vegas Raiders at an 11 to 1 price now as we update some of those numbers on the move this week as we wait for a kickoff.
27:11You know what else we're waiting for now?
27:12The top of the hour.
27:14Let's re-rack it, baby, and let you know the exciting topics and we count on down.
27:20Oh, let's get after it here.
27:21In Philadelphia, prime time tonight.
27:24All the lights will be shining down on Lincoln Financial Field and 65,000-plus Philadelphia Eagles fans will be cheering on the dropping of banner number two and Super Bowl number two.
27:35The funny part is you'll do it in front of the Dallas Cowboys who haven't had any success since 1995.
27:40Hard to believe, or maybe it isn't, where Jerry Jones has told us repeatedly, wait, wait a second.
27:44Football's about winning games?
27:46I thought it was just about being in the headlines and making a lot of money off the field.
27:49Well, that's apparently what the Dallas Cowboys like to do, and they've been very good at that.
27:52They're just not very good at winning on the football field in the biggest moments when it means the most here.
27:57So when we set the table for tonight's NFL game in Philadelphia to kick off the season, we actually got a little bit of line movement out here, Joe,
28:04as we were talking about the eight-and-a-halves across the betting landscape.
28:07Fans of DraftKings, BetMGM, Bet365, even in Vegas.
28:11Eight-and-a-halves to eights were across the board.
28:13I just saw DraftKings here in New Jersey go to seven-and-a-half at a minus-115 price.
28:18The total's still sitting at 47-and-a-half, but do we see buybacks here, Joe, on game day,
28:24where it says, whoa, whoa, whoa, eight-and-a-half is a little bit too much?
28:29Absolutely.
28:30I mean, that was so artificially inflated over the last couple of days.
28:36You know, mind you that prior to the Micah Parsons trade, it was down to six-and-a-half.
28:41Now we're talking about, okay, so they trade Micah Parsons, but they get an absolute, you know,
28:49three-time Pro Bowler run-stuffer in the middle of the line now to help them do Cowboys exactly what they couldn't do last year,
28:56which was stop the run, and somehow it's worth, what, two points?
29:01Like, eight-and-a-half was a ridiculous number for game one,
29:05and especially with the likes of Ferguson and CeeDee Lamb and now Pickens and Dak.
29:10Everybody's healthy on the offense of the Cowboys.
29:14It does not—this will close, Donnie, seven-and-a-half,
29:17maybe even closer to seven is my prediction when it's all said and done.
29:21Buybacks, people.
29:22If we take a look here, the 47-and-a-half is the total in this game.
29:25Conditions to start the game, mostly cloudy,
29:27giving way to drizzle in the 10 o'clock hour is a possibility.
29:30Not really that big of a deal.
29:31You take a look at the wind speeds tonight, Joe.
29:33Starts around 10 miles an hour, tapers off to seven to six miles an hour late in that game.
29:38So no real conditions that you worry about.
29:40And quite frankly, you know, mid-70s to low-70s throughout the game,
29:43that's good for opening night.
29:44Like, you worry about those conditions on, like, Sunday afternoon in September
29:47where it's so hot and guys cramp up a lot.
29:50We'll see if that makes a difference.
29:51But for me, looking at these numbers,
29:53I don't think we have too many problems with that total here.
29:55That 47-and-a-half is interesting to me.
29:56So again, the public does like to bet overs.
29:58We understand that.
30:00But that line sits down at 47-and-a-half.
30:01At game time, Joe, do we push that higher to 48?
30:04Or could we see any buybacks to 46-and-a-halves back where that opening number began?
30:09I didn't understand how we got to 8-and-a-half and the total didn't move.
30:13It didn't make any sense to me.
30:16But now we're starting to see, obviously, that come back down to reality.
30:20And yeah, I don't know that I can honestly sweat out an under in this game here.
30:27But I can tell you, I think there's a couple other ways to go about this game
30:31if you think one team or the other is going to hang around.
30:35I think if you think this is a blowout by Philadelphia,
30:37well, then you're probably looking at the under
30:40because Dallas will not be able to contribute enough.
30:42But if you think Dallas can keep this thing close,
30:45I don't see how they're going to keep it close in a 20-17 game, Donnie.
30:50I'll tell you that.
30:51Yeah, and also from a Philadelphia Eagles perspective,
30:53where they're healthy coming into the season,
30:55but you see a couple different tactics of how these teams start to approach
30:58these new preseasons into the regular season.
31:02Cincinnati never liked to play their starters,
31:03getting up the sluggish slow starts.
31:04I said, that's enough.
31:05We're going to play our starters a good portion here in games 1, 2, and 3.
31:08And maybe they're a better team because of it.
31:10They didn't suffer any injuries.
31:11Nobody's actually on the injury report for Cincinnati.
31:13But the Philadelphia Eagles,
31:14Devontae Smith had a little bit of back issues during training camp.
31:17A.J. Brown missed like three weeks with a hamstring injury.
31:19Didn't see Saquon Barkley or Jalen Hurts.
31:21Now you're expected to perform.
31:23Now also understand this.
31:24They're professionals playing at the highest level.
31:27They've been there, done that.
31:28They've been going through hundreds of hours of practice.
31:29They should be ready for the game.
31:31But nothing, Joe, can simulate like being in a football game on opening night
31:35with all the lights and the TV and the adulation coming down.
31:39I wonder if that is starting to a slow start or maybe a fresh start.
31:42Let's look at the quarterback competition tonight between Jalen Hurts and Dak Prescott.
31:46Dak didn't play much football last year against the Philadelphia Eagles.
31:48The Eagles hammered them, but you took a Jalen Hurts, a 2-12 and a half passing number
31:52versus Dak Prescott's 2-48 and a half.
31:54It does make sense.
31:56The ground game is there for the Eagles.
31:57I don't think the ground game is going to be all that effective for the Dallas Cowboys.
32:00Maybe just keeping the Eagles pass rush at bay for most parts of it.
32:03But which type of quarterback props would you like to play tonight?
32:06Rushing numbers we went over early in the show,
32:08passing numbers for a quarterback, passing touchdowns for a quarterback.
32:11Which way do you think you're going on that?
32:13Yeah, so that's the interesting one, Donnie.
32:15And again, everything correlates here.
32:18Don't bet against yourself in the prop betting market to go against what you think the outcome
32:22of this game is going to be.
32:25But, you know, I'm looking at some of the numbers here for the passing touchdowns, right?
32:30And listen, from a Philadelphia perspective, if I like Devonta Smith, if I like A.J. Brown,
32:36if I like these guys to find the end zone, well, then over one and a half,
32:42I believe passing touchdowns for Jalen Hurts is still plus money.
32:46And that would not shock me if that's the case here where maybe Dallas sells out on the run to stop it.
32:53And that gives him an opportunity to find some open guys in the end zone.
32:58So, yeah, I don't mind the over one and a half touchdowns for Jalen Hurts.
33:02Yeah, we're looking at some of these totals in this game, too, because it's 47 and a half.
33:07Team totals on each side.
33:08I mean, don't make it too appetizing for the Eagles.
33:10It's 28 and a half right now, minus 118 at FanDuel, which means you're probably looking at 30 plus points.
33:16That's four touchdowns and a field goal.
33:17Can they get there?
33:18Sure they can.
33:19They've done that multiple times last year.
33:20Looking at the Dallas Cowboys, they're 19 and a half at a minus 115 price at the FanDuel Sportsbook.
33:25So you're factoring on three touchdowns out of the Dallas Cowboys.
33:28I'm just interested to see, like, the game flow, because sometimes, Joe, where you don't quite necessarily know what you're going to get out of either side.
33:35Now, they are healthy.
33:36They're ready to go.
33:36And Saquon Barkley could have a 55-yard touchdown run on the opening possession, and away they go.
33:41But for me, this could be one of those where you might escape in that first quarter, three to nothing.
33:46I'm like, whoa, look how far this total is down now, knowing that eventually these guys are going to get untracked on both sides.
33:51And if memory serves me correctly, like, one of the better bets for Philadelphia last year was, I believe, the first quarter.
34:01I believe the first quarter they came out or the second quarter.
34:06There was one quarter in the first half in which they just absolutely dominated across the board.
34:12So if you think that trend holds true, maybe look early for Philadelphia in this one.
34:18Building an early lead, like, what would be the shocker?
34:21Like, the Cowboys up 14-3.
34:23We've seen crazy institutions or crazy things happen across the sports landscape, particularly in the NFL early in the season.
34:29And maybe it does.
34:30Maybe it doesn't.
34:30But you know what?
34:31We're going to hit all those angles from a proper perspective.
34:33Running backs, wide receivers, what do we think happens in this game?
34:36Much more on the Eagles-Cowboys coming up next right here on the Early Line.
34:40Props, props, and more props.
34:42The Early Line on the Sports Grid Network.
34:43Donnie Wrightside and Joe Ranieri breaking down the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles
34:47to open up the NFL season tonight.
34:50And some of those props that we love are the touchdown scoring market, Joe.
34:54Saquon Barkley, he's up to a minus 210 price.
34:57Jalen Hurts, he's a minus 165 price.
35:00Those are the only two players tonight in juice territory.
35:05Everybody else is plus money.
35:06So let's just start there with the juicy guys.
35:09Saquon Barkley, Jalen Hurts.
35:12I think they both scored, Joe.
35:15I do.
35:15Saquon Barkley, it's kind of hard.
35:18The tush push is in effect, right?
35:20Yes.
35:20So just to answer yourself this, do you think the tush push is involved in this game tonight
35:25at the one or two yard line?
35:26If the answer is yes, it's a Jalen Hurts anytime touchdown.
35:29So let's just move on from that.
35:31Kind of hard to think that we won't see Saquon involved in this game in some sort of a big
35:39way here.
35:40So yeah, if you think Philadelphia controls time of possession and is all about the ground
35:46game here tonight, then those are the only two guys I would look at in the prop betting
35:51market here tonight.
35:53I'll tell you, it's so, because you say like, oh, I don't know what's going to happen, but
35:57let's understand how this game plays out.
35:59And let's just say the Philadelphia Eagles are in the mid-20s, right?
36:01Which means three touchdowns.
36:02I think AJ Brown and Devontae Smith, we'll get to them in just a moment.
36:05One of those two guys scores a touchdown, explain my theory on that.
36:09But like, you know, the Philadelphia Eagles on the two yard line, they are going to tush
36:13push.
36:13And the fact of the off season where you're in a primetime game where they tried to get
36:17rid of it, they would love nothing more to probably score four times with a tush
36:20push tonight, just to rub it in the face of the other teams and the NFL.
36:24But understand this too, like Saquon Barkley getting a handoff at the nine yard line, fresh
36:29to start the season against not a great defense, Joe.
36:32Like it just feels like they both will score, but again, you're not getting any plus money
36:35prices for a touchdown.
36:37It makes it hard to bet.
36:38You now take a look at AJ Brown and Devontae Smith.
36:41AJ Brown is a plus 155 and Devontae Smith is a plus 180.
36:45So I look at it saying, okay, if you think both Barkley and Hurts score, I think there's
36:48a chance that AJ Brown and Devontae Smith both score, but there's only so many touchdowns
36:52to go around.
36:53So if I ask you, Joe, I think we're going to get one touchdown pass out of, you know, starting
36:59quarterback Jalen Hurts, which I think he has a chance to throw two.
37:01One of those two guys is getting it and you're just playing the odds saying, okay, well,
37:05if Devontae gets it, it's plus 180.
37:07Well, if AJ Brown gets it, it's plus 155.
37:09You just need one of those two guys to get a touchdowns plus money.
37:12I think one of those two guys is going to get a touchdown tonight.
37:15Yeah.
37:16And I got, you know, another thing too, we got to keep in mind, we do have a new OC in
37:21Philadelphia.
37:21Although he was part of the staff last year, he is new in calling plays for this team this
37:29year.
37:29So I think, you know, I was looking at this market, Donnie, and I'm trying to figure out
37:34if I think this game is pretty much crazy at halftime and Dallas is playing from behind.
37:40Well, then how about AJ Brown or Devontae Smith early in this game, like a AJ Brown first
37:47half touchdown, because apparently he was targeted a hell of a lot more early in games last year
37:54than he was in the second half.
37:56So they kind of used him as the guy to get out in front and play their game early.
38:01And then they kind of coasted with the running game in the second half.
38:04So those kinds of passing props may be best in the first half, Donnie.
38:10We know it's hard to get 2000 yards rushing in an NFL season.
38:13Not that many people have done that.
38:15And Saquon Barkley did it last year.
38:16Now you're saying, what can he do this year?
38:19Rested, healthy, ready, destroyed the Dallas Cowboys last time he played him last year.
38:24There's no direct correlation, but did have a great success.
38:26Almost was looking to break the record in that game.
38:29Saquon's 93 and a half.
38:31You know, as well as I do.
38:33Saquon's going to carry the football at least 20 times in this game.
38:38Does he get shut down?
38:39Like, hey, Kenny Clark's coming over.
38:41He's good to run defender.
38:41It doesn't matter.
38:42Like that Eagles offensive line is nasty.
38:44They're expected to have the lead, which means extra running chances in the fourth quarter,
38:47which you saw so many times, Saquon breaking long runs.
38:50How about his 93 and a half?
38:51How do we play that prop?
38:53I don't mind that at all.
38:55And I would correlate that, Donnie, to his rushing attempts.
38:5918 and a half.
39:00I'll take over.
39:00He averaged 22 a game last year in the regular season.
39:06As a matter of fact, he got at least 19 or more in 12 of his last 14 games, including the run through the Super Bowl.
39:14So, you know, the Eagles being more than a touchdown favorite tells you they're likely playing from in front in this game.
39:20And if that's the case, Saquon left, Saquon right, Donnie right.
39:25Give me the rushing attempts up and over here.
39:27I did this quite a bit last year, Joe, and had some fun.
39:30Kenneth Gainwell is no longer with the Philadelphia Eagles.
39:32He was the backup running back.
39:34But you got to figure there's going to be like two to three of those carries.
39:36Will Shipley is a 12 and a half.
39:38Like if this game gets out of hand in the fourth quarter, where the Eagles have like a 14-point lead,
39:42he's probably going to have three to four carries possibly in this game.
39:45Just need him to get a couple yards.
39:46And he showed in that junk time performances last year that he's able to get some of those yards.
39:51We'll see if it flows out.
39:52But I can't wait.
39:53Tonight, we're so close, people.
39:54It's Cowboys.
39:55It's Eagles.
39:55We're covering it.
39:56We're doing it all on the Sports Grid Network.
39:58Joe and Donnie, we'll be back in this short break.
40:00Right back at it.
40:01What an awesome Thursday it's been.
40:03The energy has been extremely high.
40:04And why not?
40:05It's a kickoff to the NFL season.
40:06It's how we get down on the Sports Grid Network.
40:08It's on the right side.
40:09And it's Joe.
40:09We're near the early lines.
40:10What we do Monday through Friday.
40:12You know the drill, people.
40:13It's the place to be to get your morning started.
40:15I think we do a pretty good job at doing that.
40:18But also, it's not just me and Joe talking.
40:20We like to reach out to the public at this time in the show and say,
40:23you know what, public?
40:24Which way are you going today?
40:34Go to X.
40:35Follow our account at Sports Grid.
40:36We asked a simple question today because you know you're going to be geeked up on the NFL.
40:40What is your best bet tonight in Eagles versus Cowboys?
40:44Over, under, Eagles as a favorite, Cowboys as a dog.
40:49Pretty even slate, Joe.
40:5033% said Eagles minus 8.5.
40:5330% said Cowboys plus 8.5.
40:5522% said over 47.5.
40:58Under at 15.2%, Joe.
41:01Looks good out here.
41:02And by the way, you know me.
41:03I voted for the Eagles minus 8.5.
41:05Blowout style tonight, Joe.
41:06Which way did you go in the poll?
41:07Yeah, I can't do that, Donnie.
41:11Blowout.
41:11I can't side with the public in week one.
41:14Not going to have.
41:15Although they were extremely profitable last year, I think this year is a different year.
41:21I'm going to go with the total, Donnie, because I don't see.
41:25I think if the Cowboys are going to keep this within 8.5, this thing is getting closer to 50 or more points than anything else.
41:33So I have no problem.
41:34I think the offenses will have some success here tonight.
41:38Both of the defenses, they have some warts.
41:41They've got some things that can be exposed by both offenses, and I think that's what we get tonight.
41:46I think we get a ton of points.
41:48I'm going to keep it simple.
41:49We're going to go to the NFL tonight.
41:50When you look at the Philadelphia Eagles, you say to yourself, I have Jalen Hurts, who if that ball is inside the three-yard line, that's a rushing touchdown for him.
41:57And I have Saquon Barkley.
41:58If we're outside of the three-yard line, anywhere on the field, that could be a home-run target here.
42:03So I'm going to keep it simple.
42:04Bet 365 today is where I went.
42:06You know what, Joe?
42:06Eagles rushing touchdowns as a team over one and a half, listed at a minus 140 price.
42:12If the Eagles are expected by their team total to be around 28 points, that's four touchdowns.
42:17So that means two in the air and two on the ground.
42:20It just makes sense.
42:21Don't say, oh, no, split it up, Donnie.
42:23Take, you know, Saquon Barkley or take them both.
42:27Take them both.
42:28Two rushing touchdowns out of Saquon Barkley.
42:30That cashes that ticket.
42:32Two rushing touchdowns out of Jalen Hurts.
42:34That cashes that ticket.
42:35One apiece.
42:35It doesn't matter.
42:36How about a reverse to A.J. Brown as a rushing touchdown?
42:39That also counts as well.
42:42That's where I'm going tonight.
42:43Rushing touchdowns from the Philadelphia Eagles, Joe.
42:45How about that?
42:46How about that?
42:58Are you good?
