00:00a new initiative aimed at giving prison inmates a second chance at life is coming to the town of

00:17Pekan in Pahang. Pahang ruler Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah graced the groundbreaking

00:24ceremony for the upcoming Al-Sultan Abdullah village of hope here the project which will feature shops

00:31workshops a nursery and more is envisioned as a space that will offer former inmates employment

00:37opportunities allowing them to use skills they have learned in prison.

00:54The idea was spearheaded by Tunggu Nguyen.

01:24Tunggu Ampuan of Pahang Tunggu Aziza Amina Maimuna Eskandaria who said the Pahang government

01:29had bequeathed them 10 acres of land for the project. Tunggu Aziza explained that the village

01:35was inspired by the success of the Tenun Pahang Diraja program which has equipped many inmates

01:40with valuable weaving skills. The Al-Sultan Abdullah village of hope will also provide living space

01:46for the families of those once incarcerated.

01:48Patit said that Patit did not want this community to be a part of the family, but also calling the

01:58outside people who want and don't have a place. They can also be able to join us here so that it is about

02:07welcoming back them into society is social inclusion.

02:18The Al-Sultan Abdullah village of hope looks set to bring positive and powerful change to the lives of countless people.
