How do you feel about being a Rose County's manager?
00:02
Fantastic, absolutely brilliant.
00:04
As soon as I spoke with Roy and Steven, it was a no-brainer.
00:11
It was very much about their ambitions matching my ambitions
00:15
and about the aspirations they've got for the football club
00:19
and it absolutely matched what I was doing.
00:21
So as soon as I had that conversation with them,
00:23
I was just desperate to get started and I'm absolutely thrilled that I'm here now,
00:26
ready to start home game on Saturday.
00:28
What about the club particularly can attract you to the role?
00:31
Well, I would say that the infrastructure of the club is really impressive.
00:35
The facilities, I think the level of player and for me the level of professionalism
00:39
that the club operates at.
00:41
And also the passion that I've seen from the chairman in Steven,
00:45
that really comes across.
00:47
And I think there's a real alignment there from the chairman down,
00:50
to the staff, to the players, to everybody in the stadium.
00:54
There's a real good feeling that everybody's,
00:56
there's a one common goal, you know, and there's a real alignment of the staff.
01:00
And that's something that I want to be part of.
01:01
It's something that I really strongly believe in.
01:03
Was there anyone, I know the Scottish football circle is quite small,
01:06
was there anyone in your contacts that you were able to kind of go to,
01:09
who maybe had experience at the club or anything like that?
01:11
Yeah, of course, previous managers, I spoke to previous players,
01:14
you know, everybody that's been there.
01:15
And I've got to say there was not one person that has been at this football club
01:18
that doesnae say the most positive thing about it.
01:21
And that reference is so important, you know,
01:24
because you would do that, you'd do your diligence in anything.
01:26
But certainly the feedback from players, staff, managers that have been here,
01:31
all extremely positive, and it fills me with, you know, real desire,
01:37
you know, hunger to get going here, you know.
01:39
And I think in Ross County, they've now got a manager that, you know,
01:42
I've got experience over 800 games in a dugout.
01:44
I've got that new manager energy still, and I've got huge motivation to do well
01:49
for this football club in alignment with what their aspirations are.
01:53
Obviously, things haven't panned out quite as county would have wanted to
01:57
for the start of the season. How do you plan on resolving that?
02:00
That's something that's out with my control. I can't affect that.
02:02
I can't affect what's happened in the past, you know.
02:05
But my job now is to pick up the reins, and the season starts now,
02:08
as far as I'm concerned.
02:10
And I'm getting a chance to speak with the players today.
02:12
I've seen some of them in a match last night, some of them trained yesterday,
02:15
but I'll get them as a collective.
02:16
Obviously, Ronan and Dylan are the ones that are not here on international duty,
02:20
which is great. Credit to them and credit to the club as well.
02:22
We've got players representing the country.
02:24
But we've got an opportunity to make sure it's clear that there's a line drawn
02:28
and that the season very much starts now, in the way of UT Saturday's match.
02:33
Now, many will still feel that the decision by Dundee at the end of last season
02:37
was very harsh. How shocked were you at that?
02:39
Yeah, it was shocked, but like everything I say, that's in the past.
02:42
I draw a line under that. I'd like to thank Dundee.
02:44
They gave me a real opportunity to be a manager.
02:48
I had two good seasons, I feel, there.
02:50
You know, I think I achieved a lot there, but that's gone now.
02:53
You know, it's very much about the full focus is on Ross County
02:56
and what I can do to repay the faith of the chairman and Stephen
03:00
to align with all the staff and try and get Ross County back to where it should be.
03:04
I think John Robertson said last night, you said, had a chat about his role going forward.
03:09
Are you able to tell us a bit about that?
03:11
Yeah, I knew with John being in here, John was in an interim
03:14
and John's somebody I've got huge admiration and respect for.
03:17
And John will assist me at the moment and that will start on Saturday.
03:20
Well, it started already, but that will start on Saturday's match.
03:23
That's all for me, perfect match.
