00:45:40Romance was in the air in the design in spite of the sweat and the sewing and the very short time window.
00:45:47It's like you walked right into mood and just chose every wrong thing that went right.
00:45:55Tell us about your look.
00:45:57The idea was to exude sexiness and femininity and something light, but at the same time with the edge of the metal detail.
00:46:05I was highly impressed by the craftsmanship of the skirt.
00:46:08There was very little puckering, and so to me, that was the first thing from a technique point of view that stood out to me.

00:46:16I think it's amazing what you did in 12 hours because I know how hard that fabric is just to even cut.

00:47:04I wanted to play with blurring gender lines, basically ideas that would go together, but then clashing between the male and the female.
00:47:11The fabrics, specifically, make me feel a little bit like I'm looking at a shower curtain caught in a fishing net.
00:47:18It's a little visually confusing.
00:47:21I love the nod to lingerie.
00:47:24It's like a boxer short with a brief.
00:47:27I just feel like maybe if we lost the stomach piece, we would be having a different conversation.
00:47:31It could have been this really beautiful coat over something that's really overtly sexy.

00:48:35Every time you say something to me, I take notes.
00:48:37I take notes from everybody's critiques, top and bottoms.
00:48:40Trying to not be in the bottom.
00:48:43Tell us about your look.
00:48:44So my look was inspired by the boyfriend's shirt, but the girlfriend's corset.
00:48:50And of course, he's a cool guy.
00:48:51I probably have a bike and he has this cool bummer jacket.
00:48:54It was so wonderfully gender neutral and yet it had all the elements of gender.
00:49:01And that to me is a statement.
00:49:04You're an original.
00:49:06Coming from you, that's huge.
00:49:09Proje, these are all pieces that we've seen before.
00:49:13But you understand what you do well and you figure out ways to remix it and keep it fresh.

00:49:23I love the idea of the corset with the kilt, with the showing underwear.
00:49:29It spoke to an urban sensibility, but back to a high fashion sensibility, which I think is very current.

00:50:14So I was thinking 1920s and the Tulsa massacres and Black Wall Street.
00:50:19I was thinking of how strong Black women in that era were and they had their own businesses
00:50:25and how beautiful the fashion was.
00:50:27A very modern version of 1920s.
00:50:30Just the restraint and the luxeness of the look when it came out.
00:50:38You made that panty out of silk wool, which has absolutely no stretch in it.
00:50:43And it lays like it's a spandex panty.
00:50:46I love when a designer takes a chance on a color that shows everything.
00:50:52This was in a league of its own.
00:50:54I have to tell you that your costume design background really served you in this challenge.
00:50:58I love the Tulsa inspiration.
