00:00I now would like to introduce two people who have been fighting this for decades.
00:06A nation that allows rich and powerful men to traffic and abuse young girls without consequence
00:15is a nation that has lost its moral and spiritual core.
00:21Americans are asking a very simple question.
00:24How is it possible that in the richest, most powerful country in the world,
00:32there are corrupt special interest forces, both foreign or domestic,
00:39that are preventing the release, that have a stranglehold on our government
00:44and are preventing the release of the full Epstein files?
00:49There is something that is rotten in Washington.
00:54My name is Marina Lacerda.
01:00I was Minor Victim 1 in Federal Indictment of Jeffrey Epstein in New York in 2019.
01:06I was one of a dozen of girls that I personally know who were forced into Jeffrey's mansion
01:11on 9 East 71th Street in New York City when we were just kids.
01:17Today is the first time that I ever speak publicly about what happened to me.
01:21I never thought that I would find myself here.
01:26The only reason that I am here is because it feels like the people who matter in this country
01:30finally care about what we have to say.
01:33As an immigrant from Brazil, I feel empowered knowing that the little girl struggling to get by
01:39at 14 and 15 years old finally has a voice.
01:42For the first time, I feel like I matter as an American.
01:47I was only 14 years old when I met Jeffrey.
01:50It was the summer of high school.
01:52I was working three jobs to try to support my mom and my sister
01:56when a friend of mine in the neighborhood told me that I could make $300 to give another guy a massage.
02:03It went from a dream job to the worst nightmare.
02:08It went from a dream job to the worst nightmare.
02:11When you're up here.
02:24Accountability is what makes a society civilized.
02:37Equal opportunity and equal consequence for all.
02:41Consequences are not about punishment alone.
02:44They exist to deter future harm, to protect vulnerable, and to set a standard of justice.
02:50If Ghislaine Maxwell were pardoned, it would undermine all the sacrifices I made to testify
02:58and make mockery of mine and all survivors' suffering.
03:08At first, I was an excited young woman on top of the world.
03:17Epstein flew me to his private island.
03:18He listened to my dreams, promised to help, but his promises came with a catch.
03:23The abuse began.
03:25He told me to keep it secret.
03:27He manipulated me with quid pro quo I did not consent to, but I felt I had no one to turn to.
03:32He was too powerful.
03:35I was just one of the many young women trapped in his orbit.
03:37I was even taken on a trip to Africa with former President Bill Clinton and other notable figures.
03:43In those moments, I realized how powerless I was.
03:45If I spoke out, who would believe me?
03:48Who would protect me?
03:50Epstein himself was the most powerful leader of our country.
03:54Epstein surrounded himself, I'm sorry, with the most powerful leaders of our country and the world.
03:59He abused not only me, but countless others, and everyone seemed to look away.
04:04The truth is, Epstein had a free pass.
04:06He bragged about his powerful friends, including our current president, Donald Trump.
04:10It was his biggest brag, actually.
04:15And while I, what I endured will haunt me forever.
04:18We are not asking for pity.
04:31We are here demanding accountability, and I'm demanding justice.
04:37Congress must choose.
04:39Will you continue to protect predators, or will you finally protect survivors?
04:43And also, I would like to announce here today, us Epstein survivors have been discussing creating our own list.
04:53We know the names.
04:55Many of us were abused by them.
04:57Now, together as survivors, we will confidentially compile the names we all know.
05:03Can you imagine how terrifying it would be to name names like that?
05:14These are some of the richest, most powerful people in the world that could sue these women into poverty and homelessness.
05:21Yeah, it's a scary thing to name names, but I will tell you, I'm not afraid to name names.
05:27And so, if they want to give me a list, I will walk in that Capitol on the House floor, and I'll say every damn name that abused these women.
05:38I can do that for them, and I'd be proud to do it.
05:42On the other side.
05:43On the right side.
05:46Yeah, believe that.
