00:00We've had enough of red states and Trump changing the rules. California is fighting back.

00:05He's among the most recognizable democratic governors in the United States,

00:09and now Gavin Newsom is changing tack.

00:13He's taking on the U.S. president by becoming more like Donald Trump himself.

00:17Whether it's putting out messages in all caps on X, trolling Trump, or using AI-generated imagery of himself,

00:25Newsom's imitation of the U.S. president has Americans taking notice,

00:28and it's getting under the skin of Donald Trump.

00:42Gavin Newsom is no stranger to Donald Trump.

00:45The former mayor of San Francisco became governor of the largest and most populous U.S. state

00:50during the president's first term.

00:52During Trump's first week back at the White House this year, he visited California,

00:56which was reeling from devastating wildfires.

00:59But through it all, Newsom remained in Trump's crosshairs.

01:03He's a terrible governor. Probably he and Gavin Newsom would be probably the two worst.

01:09As Democrats try and get their act together ahead of next year's midterms,

01:14Newsom has no qualms reaching out across the aisle.

01:17While he predominantly features voices from the left on his podcast,

01:21he's defended bringing on far-right figures like Steve Bannon, a former advisor to Trump.

01:26He's changing the geostrategic model of the United States back to a hemispheric defense,

01:32away from the post-war international rules-based order, which has really gutted the United States.

01:36It was great for a while.

01:38I mean, 80 years of relative peace and prosperity, and America dominated.

01:42I mean, there's a lot of attributes.

01:44But it gutted the middle class, remember.

01:47The governor's current focus ahead of the midterms,

01:50responding to a recent redistricting measure from Texas.

01:54Gavin Newsom's strategy is to fight fire with fire,

01:57with the state's voters set to decide on if California should redraw their maps in a special election in November.

02:03Let's defend democracy.

02:05Let's support the Election Rigging Response Act, and let's vote on November 4th.
