00:00Welcome to the Chromlek Deep Dive.
00:03My name is Pavel Makal, I'm the PR manager at Perun Creative and today I will introduce
00:08you to various gameplay elements of Chromlek in greater detail.
00:15Chromlek is an action-adventure RPG set in a dark, low fantasy world influenced by Celtic
00:20mythology and aesthetics.
00:22The game also has roguelite elements, but more about them later.
00:26Here you can see our hero Kronak walking towards the village of Latrac, the first of many settlements
00:32you will encounter on your journey.
00:34The world is fully handcrafted, there is no procedural generation and we also used a lot
00:39of our own photogrammetry assets, such as flowers and other elements.
00:44The size of Chromlek is inspired by old-school RPGs such as Gothic.
00:48We didn't want to make a huge but mostly empty open world.
00:52Instead, every nook and cranny has its meaning and curious exploration is rewarded.
00:58Our game map is also very vertical, there is a lot of deep caverns and crags, but also
01:03high mountains with beautiful vistas.
01:09Meet Palladix, the village druid.
01:12You can trade various resources with him, but he can also help you craft all kinds of brews
01:16to help you on your journey.
01:25Now let's take a look at our gear system.
01:28This is just a small taste of many armor pieces you will be able to acquire during the game.
01:36You can mix and match to your heart's content and every piece of equipment can also be upgraded
01:41with special inscriptions.
01:48Since the game world is pretty dangerous, it would be wise to go out with the weapon.
01:53In Chromlek you will battle your enemies with various swords, axes, maces or clubs.
01:59You can even dual wield them or use them with a shield.
02:04Okay, now our hero looks like something straight out of a horror movie.
02:12Let's put on something more fitting for a Celtic warrior and head out of the village.
02:20Even though Chromlek is a fantasy game at its heart, the environment, houses and civilian
02:25clothes were researched and consulted with historians to portray life in Celtic settlements in Central
02:30Europe some 600 years before Christ.
02:38Now let's talk a bit about our combat system.
02:41Chromlek enters a small camp inhabited by a group of basic enemies we call bandit scum.
02:46As you can see they don't have any meaning for armor and they can be disposed off pretty
02:51easily using just simple fast attacks called small strikes.
02:55Good riddance.
02:58But this is going to be a bit more challenging.
03:02This creature is called a lurk.
03:04He is pretty strong but this particular specimen is also heavily armored.
03:09As you can see small strikes don't cause any damage aside from filling his stagger bar
03:13and also your so called heat bar.
03:16This is the moment our very own combat system comes into place.
03:20We call it RTL short for Right Torso Left.
03:24You see the heavy attacks or big strikes can be aimed in the desired direction so you can
03:29hit enemies weak points or attempt to destroy a piece of armor and make a new weak point.
03:36Armor placement on enemies is randomized so you need to observe them and choose the best
03:41approach.
03:42Keep in mind that if you destroy a piece of armor on an enemy you won't be able to loot
03:46it later.
03:48One of the cool features of our combat system is that some enemy attacks are based on their
03:53equipped armor.
03:54For example, if the lurk has a pauldron he might perform a very nasty shoulder charge.
04:00So even if you found a weak spot already it might be a good idea to destroy his pauldron
04:05so he loses that ability.
04:10After sustaining a lot of damage the lurk starts to be more defensive but don't worry you can
04:15still break his guard and take him out.
04:18Combat in Chromlek is tactical, challenging and ultimately rewarding.
04:23Now it's time to introduce you to our core gameplay loop.
04:27As I mentioned in the beginning Chromlek has roguelite elements.
04:30The story takes place in a 30 day cycle.
04:33One day can be as long as you want and you end it either by going to sleep or by dying.
04:39Cleaning is important as it replenishes your endurance meter.
04:43You use endurance for healing, fast traveling and some smaller activities such as opening
04:48chests without lockpicks.
04:50When your endurance drops you get debuffs pushing you to start another day.
04:54But beware, time is your most precious resource as new day might bring a brand new challenge.
05:01Introducing our crisis system, the crucial part of Chromlek experience.
05:06Each couple of days a new crisis might emerge in the world.
05:10Crisis is a major event that can shape the future of the realm.
05:14In this particular scenario a band of exiles come into the area and they start causing trouble.
05:20You have 3 days to solve this crisis and if you don't there is going to be consequences
05:24as you can see on the right side of this screen.
05:27A good way to deal with a crisis is to start completing quests that are connected to it.
05:33This way you earn crisis points and you mitigate the possible consequences.
05:37One thing to note is that we don't exactly tell you how many crisis points will each quest
05:42give you.
05:43We believe players are smart so we want you to read the quest description and think about
05:48what is requested of you.
05:50In this particular quest you are asked to kill 2 bandit leaders.
05:54Well, that will probably make a big impact, right?
05:57If you were, let's say, asked to bring 5 chicken breasts to Granny what's her name,
06:02you'd probably guess it won't help that much.
06:05But don't worry, we don't have those kinds of quests in Chromlek.
06:09The consequences you don't deal with become world scars and they will be active for the
06:14rest of the current cycle, making the world subsequently more difficult.
06:19Bear in mind that you have limited time to deal with the crisis.
06:22So losing a day by dying or having to rest too early because you used up all your endurance
06:27for healing is not viable.
06:30Some players might find additional challenge in a world cursed with multiple world scars.
06:35Others will probably rather restart the cycle and try again.
06:39The good news is, we have a lot of crises and quests available and they also have multiple
06:44solutions and approaches.
06:46So each and every new run is an opportunity to experience something new and try a different
06:51way.
06:53One thing that should help you in your future endeavors is our RPG system.
06:57In its center lie the epithets, heroic names you gain for your heroic deeds.
07:03Let's say you find a stone tablet speaking about some ancient hero who managed to kill a monster
07:08with his bare hands.
07:10You might want to try it as well and if you are successful, you might gain an epithet.
07:15You can have up to 7 of them equipped but you need renown for them to be active.
07:20Renown is a special resource that can be gained for example by completing quests, but you can
07:25also lose it for dying or failing some other way.
07:29You strive to be as renowned as possible because high renown means more epithets active which
07:34in turn makes you a mighty hero.
07:37Losing renown will hurt you because you will feel it immediately by also losing various bonuses.
07:44Other parts of our RPG system are various skill trees, combat techniques and also war paints
07:49you can combine for powerful bonuses.
07:52If you unlock them, they carry over to next playthrough.
07:57There is a lot more to share with you.
07:59The world of Gvern is packed with secrets, dungeons, rifts, gods and demons and most importantly,
08:06adventures.
08:07We can't wait to show you more.
08:09Until next time, take care.
08:11I am on the other side.
08:19Here I am...
08:23...
