00:00I despise Nigel Farage's politics and everything he stands for, but I think it's undeniable that
00:04he's an incredibly effective communicator. He speaks to people's everyday needs in a way that
00:08talks to them. The problem is, and it's a big problem, his solutions would actually make things
00:12worse. So when I talk about eco-populism, I'm recognising that if people are worried about
00:17putting food on the table, heat in their homes, getting to work, if they have a job or not,
00:21then the climate crisis can feel quite a distant threat. Now the climate crisis is right here and
00:26right now, and it's actually going to make inequality much worse. But we've got to meet
00:29people in their everyday concerns and then link that to the broader concerns.
