Reform UK leader Nigel Farage says that he hasn't broken any parliamentary rules related to the declaration of donations. Farage says he's been "painted out as being a crook" by the media and other political parties, and he's calling a by-election to give judgement on the issue to voters in Clacton. Report by Keechl. 00:00This by-election has been branded a vanity project, a stunt, pathetic.
00:05Why have you called this by-election and why won't you apologise for your finances?
00:11Why didn't you declare it in the first place?
00:12Well, number one, I have nothing to apologise for at all.
00:15I haven't broken the law in any way at all.
00:18And I'm firmly of the belief, backed up by strong legal opinion,
00:21that I have not broken Parliament's rules either.
00:25However, as a result of constantly being referred and complained about,
00:29it now would appear from the media pylon and from the political party pylon
00:34that I'm guilty of virtually everything.
00:36I've been painted out to the people in this constituency, frankly, as being a crook.
00:40Well, I'll tell you what, I don't think Sky News or anybody else should be my judge.
00:44I think the voters here in Clacton should have that opportunity.
00:47And as for the other parties, you know, the Conservatives got over 30,000 votes here in 2019.
00:52They don't want to stand. Well, you know why, because they'd lose and lose badly.
