00:28henry thanks for joining us here again on a patriots monday welcome back okay uh what do

00:34those two things uh mean to you you're a captain now the third year in a row three different coaches

00:38uh belichick mayo and now with rabel as well and the community service award the ron burton

00:44community service award what do those mean to you yeah i mean start with captain man um just to

00:52respect your peers respect your teammates um you know i just try to be as consistent as i can as a

00:57man uh on and off the field um so you know it's just definitely an honor um to be able to you know

01:04have that and don that um it's definitely a big privilege um that i don't take lightly and uh you

01:12know the burton award is very special too obviously been here for a while and seeing uh a new you know

01:19a number of guys that have won that and you know just select group of guys that are very very special

01:25people and to be able to kind of be in that same conversation as those guys um it's a big honor

01:31and you know the burden family as well just done so much for you know this community uh for the people

01:38around here and so it's definitely an honor to be a burden award winner drake may a fellow captain

01:44uh with you on on the offensive side how have you seen his leadership sort of evolve over the year

01:49plus that he's been here yeah drake's doing a tremendous job of that man um you know i think

01:56he's already just he's always been a national leader in a way um but you know i'm just getting a feel for

02:01everything last year uh just as a rookie and didn't feel for everything i think that just kind of comes

02:07with time and uh you know he's done a great job of stepping up being vocal um and you know he's doing a

02:13great job leading uh we got the news on friday that jabril peppers released by the new england

02:20patriots he's been a teammate of yours the last few years what was your reaction to that move

02:24yeah i mean i think coach addressed that yesterday obviously um you know this is a tough business

02:30sometimes and uh it's it's hard to you know you play with a lot of guys and then um you know and

02:36they go in different directions but you know pep is a tremendous player man it was an honor to

02:40suit up with him every single sunday and um you know i think coach addressed all the business side

02:45of things but just as a teammate man he was great um enjoy my time with him for sure he's a tremendous

02:51competitor you know we just had christian ellis on the show and he read about the release of peppers

02:57before he heard about it from the team how did you get the information

03:00yeah i was just saying i mean yeah were you surprised because i was definitely surprised i

03:07mean we were you know on our job we're speculating on roster cuts everything else then there is cut

03:12down day then another day you get kendrick born another day javon baker then a few days later you

03:17get pepper so i know personally i was very surprised yeah i mean look this is one of the toughest

03:23businesses in the world man it really is um there's a lot of hard decisions being made you know

03:29coach addressed all that stuff um yesterday and so you know i'm gonna let him answer those

03:35questions that you guys want to uh get asked but you know pep like i said was a tremendous teammate

03:40competitor guy that i you know enjoyed being around um i wish him the best for sure uh but you know as

03:47far as all the decisions and all that stuff you can you can ask coach about that one hunter henry

03:51uh joining us here on a patriots monday on a tuesday on jones and keith you're about to start up

03:56your 10th year in the nfl your 5th in new england uh you mentioned it's a tough business do you was

04:01there a move that stands out like a move where you were like oh man i can't believe this happened

04:05sort of a welcome to the nfl sort of realization of how hard the business is

04:10um gosh it's probably my rookie year we we got banged up on at the running back position um

04:19mountain when i was in san diego and yeah i had a new locker mate that was a new running back like

04:26seven weeks in a row and i was introducing myself like somebody new every week and i was just like

04:32man this is different this is very very different like it's just you know um obviously these guys

04:38were getting banged up and like hurt and stuff but it was just crazy to see um you know the change

04:44every single week in a way um i learned a lot about the business that year for sure you know it

04:49seems like around the league there's uh like a tight end fraternity you guys have tight end day

04:54it was a tight end university and all that stuff that everybody uh gets together on have you had a

04:59chance to have you talked to or do you know brock bowers at all i have not you've not have you been

05:07able to watch his game though from afar and see what he's been able to do in just one season

05:11i have yeah man um i mean i was impressed with him in college uh always was a fan from afar

05:19obviously winning the the the mackey award twice is a tremendous honor that i think he deserved

05:25you know for sure um you know one of the best tight ends to ever suit up at college and then

05:31he's already transferred that over to the um you know to our level so um you know he had a tremendous

05:37year last year uh you know he's a tremendous player he's a threat at you know every single

05:43level deep intermediate short you know he's got a little bit of everything in his game great route

05:48running uh run after catch great hands i mean you got everything you want in the tight end for sure

05:53um he's an impressive impressive dude um and so you know he's a great player that we're definitely

05:59gonna have to be able to match up against this weekend you got a chance to watch bill's debut at

06:03unc last night i saw a little bit yes what'd you think yeah i was you know i think bill i saw

06:11somewhere bill said i mean obviously on the debut they wanted uh not not the best uh way to start

06:18out uh but you know i think you learn a lot about going to play play a game and you know i know bill

06:25uh he's he's gonna have those guys in the film room and uh learning from it fast did surprise you i'm

06:31asking a lot of surprise questions but did it surprise you that he that he went to college and

06:35took the north carolina job all those months ago i don't know y'all digging for the surprise in the

06:42day huh well i mean two things going after y'all trying to see how surprised i am today we're

06:46traditionally very surprised yeah yeah i mean i was surprised by the peppers cut were you surprised

06:51that he went to college y'all are just like surprising everything um yeah good lord uh i mean

06:58no dude bill loved the coach bill loved the coach man loves football so i mean i think they give him

07:04the opportunity man and uh i think he's a tremendous football coach so i think he was he's a tremendous

07:11competitor at the same thing and loves to compete so i think he was you know ready for the challenge

07:44christian ellis that's just i don't even know who to blame for that one also i am building i did ask

07:48the pr team i did ask him if he was surprised that peppers got cut he was like well you can ask coach

07:53about those i'm like ask coach if you were surprised hey call for able up let's ask him

07:58if henry was surprised by it do you think hunter henry was surprised there mike we'll have we'll

08:02have greg ask that next week yeah if you don't mind no i i i at least like that he said he watched

08:08the game like you think christian ellis really was like oh yeah i thought you hear what he said

08:11maybe he was watching the door well he could have been doing that oh yeah i did hear about that

08:15recently it's like well it happened last night you heard that he lost recently you guys just told me

08:20about the news it did just happen so i get it they don't want to make any headlines trashing bill i

08:25get at least henry uh acknowledged that he watched no i'm not even asking him nobody's asking him to

08:30trash him i just don't like if you wouldn't you i have no other wouldn't you be uh it would catch

08:38you off guard that he was coaching in college i just think those guys know him as a pro coach he's

08:43been a pro coach for decades upon decades should we do should we do the surprise we should in surprise

08:48surprise level surprise oh well that's good oh we wasted the good surprise on you every week we

08:53just play the sounder for henry yeah and we could just be like here's the surprising question of the

08:58week yes we scale of one to what do you want to do 600 i was going to ask should we start to

09:03incorporate some of the some of the gonzo questions to henry perhaps i think we might need to perhaps

09:09yeah i think it might be i think christian gonzalez would have more fun with it than hunter henry

09:14yeah no me too i'm me too how many five-year-olds could i beat up yeah yeah he wouldn't even answer

09:21that no no i was like you're actually trying to get me in trouble you ever met rock bowers nah all

09:27right pie didn't seem to love each other though am i wrong about that a part of all these tight

09:32and those guys are obsessed with each other well we're surprised at a lot of things could have been

09:38better could have been worse some things though on patriots mondays are not shocking i think it's

09:42great to be surprised by stuff i'm usually not surprised by these interviews uh 617 oh this is
