Armed robber Elias Morgan has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 45 years for murdering prison officer Lenny Scott in Skelmersdale. Det Ch Insp Lee Wilson called Scott “a big strong kind man… who paid the ultimate price” and described Morgan as “a small cowardly evil individual” who killed him in revenge for seizing a phone from his prison cell. 00:00He was a big, strong, kind man, soulful of heart and integrity, loved by many, who in simply trying to do his job, keeping the community safe, paid the ultimate price.
00:11In absolute contrast, Elias Morgan is a small, cowardly, evil individual who executed this much-loved father and son for simply doing his job.
00:20No sentence handed down to Morgan today will ever make up for the life Morgan stole and all the priceless memories Lenny would have gone on to make with his family.
00:34However, the significant sentence handed down to Morgan should send the strongest message that the police and the courts will not tolerate detestable offending of this nature on our streets.
00:44I pray that this sentence gives his family a sense that justice has been done. RIP Lenny Scott.
