Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro will not appear before the Supreme Court during the final phase of the trial against him, which begins on Tuesday and will last until September 12. The 70-year-old former president, who is under house arrest, must be declared innocent or guilty by the Federal Supreme Court, the highest court of justice in Brazil, whose decision is final. His lawyer, Celso Vilardi, has stated that Bolsonaro will not attend the court during the final stage of his trial. Bolsonaro is accused, among many other things, of having defended a coup d'état to prevent Lula da Silva, who defeated him in the 2020 elections, from taking power.
