'Hard to say': Ollie Westbury on Shrewsbury deadline day and transfer window

Ollie Westbury gives his assessment of Shrewsbury Town's summer spending and the end to their transfer window.

00:12ollie westbury as the deadline has now shut transfer window is over for another few months

00:20and shoes we have wrapped up some late transfer business uh moved earlier today to win bradley

00:29i honvian from peterborough me and ollie have been butchering the saying of that off uh

00:34off the uh off the video um latest to come in there's been a few incomings last week uh ismail

00:40kabia came in from arsenal also goalkeeper as well a lot of business done earlier in the window um

00:47one more outgoing to go before shrewsbury which should be announced tonight there has been some

00:52exits toby savins got for wigan on deadline day and there was obviously a number of other exits from

00:57the club early in the window ollie uh a quick wrap up really obviously salad fans would have liked more

01:04michael appleton would have liked more but we know the financial constraints on shrewsbury can the shoes

01:11manager be half pleased or a little bit pleased with some of the summer business

01:17what's your assessment of it all i don't really know um end of video end of video yeah i mean that's

01:26good that's good you know i'm here to give an opinion and i ain't really got one um i'm not sure um

01:35obviously most of the business was done earlier in the summer to get the players in the building that

01:40they have got in the building yeah it's fair to say that hasn't quite worked out so far i've got two

01:49points from six games um so i suppose you kind of think well can you do anything in the transfer window

01:56to really give yourselves a really good chance it it's hard it's hard it's a hard one to say isn't it i

02:03mean i think that we haven't quite seen some of the players in in full flow yet obviously tommy mcdermott

02:10played really well in the game against colchester but then got sent off and has then been suspended

02:15for three games obviously ishmael kabia only came in on friday uh and obviously brad bradley ivan

02:24uh only came in uh today so we have to give those lads lads a chance don't we um but yeah i suppose

02:33it's one of those i think a vast proportion of the budget spent are early in the window on you know

02:39the experienced center halves that they brought in in will boil and tom anderson and sam stubs all

02:45all players that have had kind of you know really successful seasons at this level before

02:49um so i suppose now is the is the chance for for the likes of michael appleton to try and get the

02:57best out of the players um that they possibly can i mean i can understand why any shrewsbury

03:02fan feels flat right now because you know it's been you know obviously we've seen three players

03:07leave today max matter toby sabin and you know soon to be one more um but there hasn't been you know

03:14there hasn't been a plethora of incomings to you know the spirits i suppose um never kind of

03:19felt never got the impression that it was going to be an absolutely crazy busy deadline day with

03:24regards to incomings to be honest um i thought that maximum they'd do two um which you know um

03:34it turns out that they've just done the one um but it didn't it didn't i never got the feeling that

03:40that was it was all geared up to really strengthen in right at the right at the right at the death it

03:45felt like pretty much from the offset that shrewsbury were trying to you know get players in early

03:52um it's just the question will be and time will be the teller of this is have they got the players in

03:57that they need yeah it certainly will be obviously there's been a a real clear um

04:04bad indication from the from the results early on they've needed some attack and thread needed pace

04:08which michael alton said last week they brought in uh ian veen and caviar obviously tommy mcdermott i

04:15was there impressed against chelsea looked like a real player is it a case that i'm sure he's probably

04:20hoping that these lone players kind of hit the mark certainly the two that have come into the

04:23final two days at the deadline yeah i mean caviar looked like he like a real handful on saturday

04:29um probably didn't quite have the end product that he would have liked but you could see what he's

04:32going to bring to town he's got that bit of x-factor get you off the edge of your seat ability to beat a

04:37player and i tell you for what if it comes to a foot race he is absolutely going to be the winner

04:43because he is rapid um and then we don't really know too much about this lad but what we do know

04:48is he was signed by peterborough um a couple of years ago uh and they signed young players they

04:53you know that they believe have got talent obviously scored a goal in league one this season

04:57at the card of city stadium for four posh scored plenty of scored i think five goals i think for

05:03colchester in a couple years back so there's something there he's young isn't he and you

05:09never know when it might click and i suppose that's the market that shrewsbury are kind of

05:12shopping at the moment isn't it they're shopping in a market where you know they've got to do their

05:16absolute best to try and get the best players in that they possibly can so i think town have got to

05:23keep their fingers crossed that the likes of um bradley ivan and um ishmael caviar are gonna you

05:31know do the business when they come in
