The Most Remote Inhabited Island 🏝️ Facts about Tristan da CunhaπŸ“
Transcript
00:00From one of my recent videos, you know about the most remote inhabited island in the middle of the
00:04ocean, Tristan da Cunha, with a population of only 238 people. But how do the most isolated
00:10people live and what do they do? Let's find out. The trip to the island takes up to 12 days through
00:16one of the most dangerous oceans. The island is a British overseas territory and caution,
00:21an active volcano. On the island is only one town, Edinburgh of the Seven Seas,
00:26which consists of about 150 buildings. There is a cafe, a post office, a church, a school,
00:32a hospital, and even a pub. Not bad, yeah? They also have the internet, sometimes. And the fun
00:38fact is that they can even order from Amazon. Most residents are occupied with catching rock
00:44lobsters to export to the mainland. A curious detail, in 1961, a volcanic eruption forced locals
00:51to evacuate to Great Britain. Despite expectations that they would remain on the mainland, almost
00:56all joyfully returned to their island life afterward.
