00:03In the southwestern province of Guizhou, above the deep Huajiong Canyon, a massive bridge
00:08is under construction.
00:09To build a road to it, engineers literally cut through mountains, carving tunnels and
00:13building pathways through the cliffs.
00:16China has long been the world leader in the number of high bridges, and that's no coincidence.
00:20If you look at the map, this area is home to 90 of the world's 100 highest bridges.
00:26That's because this region has extremely difficult terrain, with thousands of gorges,
00:30canyons and mountain ranges, and building a regular road here is nearly impossible.
00:35This is where the current record holder stands, the Beipanjiang Bridge, stretching 565 meters
00:40above the Beipan River.
00:42But in 2025, it will be surpassed by a new giant, the Huajiong Grand Canyon Bridge, which
00:47will rise 625 meters above the canyon floor.
00:50For comparison, that's almost twice the height of the Eiffel Tower.
00:54The span will stretch over 1400 meters, becoming part of a brand new expressway connecting remote
00:59mountain regions.
