00:00There's more autumnal weather to come as we go through the next few days.

00:03Most of us will have some showers or even some longer spells of rain,

00:06which could be quite heavy, could even be thundery.

00:09But let's look at the bigger picture currently,

00:11and we do still have a mature area of low pressure to the northwest,

00:15driving the blustery weather and plenty of showers.

00:18Then there's a front that's going to come in from the southwest as we go through tonight.

00:23And then another feature that I wanted to highlight,

00:25it's this frontal system that's set to bring some pretty unsettled weather as we go through Wednesday.

00:31Most of us will see some heavy rain due to that, and most of us will see some strong winds.

00:35But as we run through, you can see that front fringing across southern parts as we go through tomorrow,

00:40and then this feature that then pushes in on Wednesday.

00:43Like I said, it is going to be an unsettled day.

00:46But back to the here and now, plenty of showers around through today.

00:49Most of them are actually going to die out and ease through this evening and the start of the night,

00:53albeit across central western Scotland.

00:55Plenty more showers continuing here, some of them heavy, some of them still thundery,

00:59and a few showers for western parts of England and Wales, perhaps some towards the south coast of England too.

01:05Also towards the south coast, well, more so the southwest,

01:08a bit more cloud pushing in as we go later on in the night,

01:11with some more persistent rain fringing into parts of Cornwall as well.

01:15Now, where we get the drier, clearer weather, it is going to be a little bit cooler than it was last night.

01:20Yes, towns and cities holding up in double figures, but some rural spots just about dropping into single digits.

01:25So a bit of a fresher start perhaps for some, but a bright sunny one for many, not in the south.

01:31Here there's a lot of cloud, particularly towards the southwest,

01:34and that cloud and that rain is all feeding its way east and a little bit further northeastwards as we go through the day.

01:41So a spell of wet weather, the rain could be heavy, could have some thunder mixed in with it,

01:45and even as it clears away towards the east, showers developing across parts of the southwest later on as well.

01:52Further north, there will also be showers around.

01:54These still pretty heavy across parts of Scotland, particularly in the west-northwest,

01:59and there could be some thunder, some lightning, some hail with that.

02:02Elsewhere, the showers don't look like they'll be quite as widespread,

02:06not quite as severe as the ones that we saw through Monday.

02:08Nonetheless, the odd heavy shower is possible.

02:11In between the showers, which we'll be hit and miss by their very nature,

02:14there will be some bright or sunny spells, perhaps quite a bit of cloud actually across central parts,

02:19but most other places seeing some sunshine at some point,

02:22and when you get that sunshine, well, temperatures will get into the high teens, low 20s,

02:27so some decent warmth still.

02:29It's only the beginning of autumn after all,

02:31but worth factoring in the blustery winds, especially around the showers,

02:35and so that will make it feel a little bit fresher.

02:37Now, through the evening, we are going to see that rain in the south-southeast,

02:41eventually clearing away, still could bring some heavy bursts for a little while

02:44across parts of East Anglia and elsewhere.

02:46A few showers here or there, but most of them dying out,

02:49and then some dry weather for a time.

02:51But then in somewhat of a repeat performance,

02:53there's that other system coming in from the south-west,

02:56but this one looks a bit more potent,

02:59and it looks like it's going to bring more unsettled weather

03:01than the one in the south through Tuesday.

03:03And so really across much of Wales, central, southern, south-western England,

03:07it's going to turn cloudy, it's going to turn wet,

03:09and also windy as we head towards dawn on Wednesday morning.

03:13Further north and east, starting the day on a drier note,

03:16and some clear skies, particularly across northern parts here.

03:18Temperatures, if anything, look like they'll be a little bit lower

03:21on Tuesday night than through this coming night,

03:23but elsewhere with the unsettled weather, as you would expect,

03:26that cloud, the rain, the wind is going to stop temperatures

03:29from dropping particularly low.

03:30All this unsettled weather in the south-west

03:33does continue its progress north-eastwards as we go through the day.

03:36Worth bearing in mind, the rain could be quite heavy,

03:38that could cause some impacts,

03:39and also the winds are going to be quite strong,

03:41risk of gales, especially towards the south coast.

03:44So obviously it is the first day back to school for many places,

03:47it is going to be a pretty miserable journey in for quite a few spots

03:51because of the wet and windy weather.

03:53That rain eventually reaching parts of the far east-northeast,

03:56Shetland, for example, as we go through into the afternoon.

03:59Elsewhere, well, there will be some dry weather around western parts of Scotland,

04:03actually avoiding the heaviest rain and the strongest winds as well.

04:08And towards the south, as that rain clears away north-eastwards,

04:11we are going to see something a bit drier, a bit brighter,

04:13but also a fair few showers following in behind.

04:16Some of these could be heavy, could have some thunder mixed in,

04:19and they could even merge into some longer spells of rain.

04:21Where it's raining, where it's windy,

04:24well, these temperatures on paper really don't mean a huge amount,

04:27mid to high teens in some places,

04:29and feeling several degrees lower than this when we're going to have the unsettled weather.

04:34But, you know, in the shelter from the breeze,

04:37later on with some sunshine breaking out in the south,

04:39could just about get into the low 20s once again.

04:42As we go through later on this week,

04:44we are going to see that weather system clearing away towards the north-east.

04:47So that leads us into a showery day on Thursday.

04:50Shower is continuing to pile in from the west-north-west.

04:53And then by Friday, well, we do have high pressure to the south-east of us,

04:57so that's actually going to bring some drier weather to large chunks of the UK.

05:01But another frontal system coming in from the north-west,

05:04well, that's going to bring some wetter weather here.

05:06So a bit of a north-west-south-east split.

05:09The closer you are towards the south-east,

05:11the greater chance you have of staying dry.

05:13But exactly where this boundary will be,

05:15well, that's still to be determined.

05:17But nonetheless, it does look like there will be some more wet weather towards the north-west,

05:21whereas for many parts of the country,

05:22actually, Friday is set to be the driest day of the week.
