00:07in the face of the climate emergency affected eight of the country's departments.
00:12In an official statement, the regional bloc expressed its solidarity with the Colombian people
00:16and government for the emergency situation caused by the flooding,
00:20which had a significant impact on strategic ecosystems, local communities and livelihoods.
00:26The SALAC member states recognized the efforts made by the South American nation
00:30to respond to the emergency to protect the affected populations
00:34and safeguard their natural heritage in line with its national and international commitment
00:39on climate action, risk management, civil defense and biodiversity protection.
00:44They also highlighted the importance of strengthening regional cooperation
00:48to address the increasingly frequent and intense effects of extreme environmental phenomena,
00:53which disproportionately affect the region.
00:57In another part of the statement, the bloc emphasized its willingness to support Colombia
01:02through cooperation mechanisms in humanitarian assistance, exchange of technical information,
01:09best practices and technical cooperation in environmental matters
01:12in accordance with the member state national capacities
01:15and the priorities identified by the Colombian authorities.
