00:02John McClure of Reverend and the Makers.

00:04And how excited are you to get on that stage headlining tonight?

00:07It's a homecoming gig, how do you feel?

00:09I feel good, yeah, it's going to be very exciting.

00:13Can't believe it's us headlining to be honest, we've had a real like

00:17amazing few years the summer and it's just gone nuts and then obviously

00:22culminating in headlining here seven and a half thousand people it's

00:26his biggest ever headline show, I feel a bit of emotion really, it's great.

00:31And I saw your post about that earlier and it was absolutely beautiful like what

00:34you were saying about being the biggest headline show at being homecoming

00:37and also what you said about your dad it was just so heartfelt you know.

00:41Yeah we've had a real like mad, we've got this day fever thing which has been a phenomena

00:45and then my brother's thing that I help him do which is Steve Bracknell and

00:50obviously Rev and because they're all like doing so well and it feels like my dad

00:54passed away at like a time when we were all kicking off for us and it just made me a bit

00:59kind of emotional really that he's not here but he's here in spirit we've got John McClure's

01:03senior bar and we're gonna, my dad likes to party right, we're a party animal nutter

01:07so we're gonna have a good party for him tonight.

01:09And that's what it's all about with Rev especially I mean we've seen you at

01:12Tramline so many times you always joke as well on stage

01:16we'll be back next Jay and I mean what's it like to be back at a huge gig in Sheffield as well but

01:23it's not Tramlines this time and your headlining it's huge you've got some amazing artists on the

01:27line-up I saw you caught the Libertines earlier right?

01:30Well they're good friends of mine, lottery winners, they're all people who I know and love and

01:37were kind of happy to come when I asked them to support us

01:40um and I do love Tramlines but equally Rock and Roll Circus is an amazing event and it's getting

01:45bigger and better every year and like Tramlines need to give me a better slot man like need to

01:50bump me up that bill I mean look I'm not don't want to be funny guys but come on

01:54and also the thing with Rock and Roll Circus is with it being like such a kind of new festival

01:59we've only had it for three years in Sheffield as a Sheffield local especially it's so special to see

02:05our own bands headlining especially a band like Rev who have really set the scene for so so much of

02:11the indie scene in the early 2000s I mean there's so many bands that wouldn't exist without you guys

02:16and you're the unsung heroes and it's just it's just great to see that come into life and what do

02:21you think about that to be getting that recognition but also getting it from your hometown?

02:26Nice to get me flowers you know what I mean I've been I've had a bad 2010s we obviously starting

02:30off with a bang it went very bad for a long time obviously it's coming back real strong and we've had

02:35like six tunes in a row radio and telly and all that I feel really good Rock and Roll Circus I've seen

02:42uh Milburn here self-esteem here Richard Orley uh it's getting bigger and tense a bigger bigger tent

02:48now it's getting bigger and better as an event and uh I think it's gonna go from strength to

02:52strength rock and roll sir because I think there's room in this city for lots of stuff you know tram

02:57lines were amazing this year yeah rock and roll circus has been amazing there's room for both

03:02I don't think it's like an eyebrow thing yeah I think we can have both you know yeah we're a

03:07musical city and you've only to look at self-esteem bring me the horizon monkeys we're doing this

03:13tonight there's so many amazing artists who like k-dots having a minute now there's loads of people who

03:18are just like doing good stuff and having a minute you know and even on film side mark urbats here tonight

03:24they've just been number one in like 200 nod countries on netflix right well we're a great city man I

03:30think we just need to we need to shout about ourselves more we need to sing our praises more

03:34and on on that you know you've you've already said that you've seen a lot of uh bands on the

03:39lineup tonight that you're also a fan of and you're friends with is there any other friends here tonight

03:43that you're looking forward to just catching up with you got family here like support

03:47on me all my first ever record producer from my first album jack's cooner he's come from london

03:53i want to spend some time with alan smythe who did all his demos and all arctic monkeys demos

03:57easier tonight my management are here but you know what i'm most buzzing about being here go on

04:02with two little boys oh and what what an unbelievable thing like to be able to do that and have your

04:07boys here and at me literally starved you said to me today man daddy just for one day i'll say you're

04:14cool oh so i've made it as long as it's like in his eyes and his brother's eyes that were already that'll do

04:20for me have they seen you live before oh yeah they've seen us a lot of times we did like a festival in

04:24mexico actually and they come we as they've seen us seen as at tram lines and whatever else but like

04:30i don't know like this because we're headlining this is our show and it's a big deal for them and

04:34that like and they're walking around like they're like little little like 10 men like they love it

04:39so it's great and um my mom's here and obviously my brother's through steve bracknell things comparing

04:46it and hosting it and whatever so like it's a family thing you know what i mean it's making

04:51make your mom and your kids and your brother and that proud of you what a great feeling absolutely

04:56and because we're here obviously with sheffield i've got to ask you as a wednesday eye what's your

05:01opinion at the minute i've got we've got to know we've got to know what's going on with chan zerry

05:05what's your opinion get him gone absolute absolute loser see you later dejvon thanks thanks for

05:10everything we invented football in this city we deserve better than what's happening at both sheffield

05:15wednesday and sheffield united we deserve better as a city blades and owls uh sheffield fc allen we

05:22deserve better than we're getting uh you know alan and sheffield are two oldest clubs right got the

05:28oldest ground at allen we started this game come on wednesday united step it up we're all wednesday

05:33aren't we there we are i finally got to ask you what song you most excited to play tonight

05:41i'm gonna play my dad's favorite song which we've not played for a very long time called armchair

05:46detective brilliant all right i can't wait for that yeah
