00:00Did you know that when Homer appeared on Bob's Burgers, they broke two of The Simpsons' biggest
00:04animation rules? Yep, when Homer Simpson zapped into Bob's Burgers back in season 30, he lost
00:09more than his bearings. He lost a few elements of his signature Simpsons animation style as well.
00:14During a rewatch of the long-running series, a fan noticed that Homer's odd angles and movements
00:19made him look more belcher than Simpson during the couch gag in My Way or the Highway to Heaven.
00:23In a post on X, they observed that you can tell Homer was animated by a guest because his head
00:28is drawn in directions other than three-fourths left and three-fourths right. Front-on angles aren't
00:33completely banned in the Simpsons universe. We've occasionally seen the characters head-on,
00:37but these sightings are few and far between. In fact, the angles are so jarring that several
00:42Reddit threads have cropped up about just how strange and stoned Springfield's residents look
00:47when they're not their typical three-quarters view. Another speculated about who animated the
00:51segment, theorizing, I feel like they got the bento box team because they do Bob's Burgers animation.
00:56This is the type of fluid stuff they do. Homer does look weird and bendy, like he'd be more at home
01:01on the wharf with Bob than with Lenny and Carl at Moe's Tavern. But as another fan pointed out,
01:05this variation serves as an uncanny visual reminder of the show's early 90s prime.
01:10They wrote,
01:10I don't mind modern Simpsons current animation, but the earlier seasons with the more fluid motions
01:15with the characters was truly something special, alongside a gif of Homer frantically reaching for
01:20a booby-trapped Butterfinger candy bar in an early commercial. Maybe it's better then to think of
01:25this not as a violation of the show's contemporary animation style, but as a nice blast from the past.
