Cow escapes from farm and survives winter by befriending wild deer ❤️ We talked to her rescuer about how she went from terrified of people to asking for pets!

00:00Someone reached out that there was a cow on her property.

00:03She had been running loose for months.

00:08She was avoiding people and hanging with the deer.

00:12Bonnie missed her family and the deer understood

00:16that she was lonely and they took her in.

00:19Bonnie came from a local farmer close by. As they were loading the cows to go to

00:24slaughter, Bonnie escaped and she ran as far as she

00:28could to get away. We knew it was going to be tricky to

00:32catch Bonnie. She was terrified of people.

00:36We didn't see her for quite a while so we waited.

00:40We had talked with veterinarians about how to tranquilize her.

00:44Eventually she ate some grain and took a little nap.

00:48We've carefully wobbled her into the trailer.

00:53As soon as that trailer door shut, we all broke out in tears

00:57of joy.

01:00There's always the fear that we're never going to catch them. We're not going to

01:03be able to save all of them, but we definitely try

01:07our best.

01:12Bonnie definitely holds a big place in my heart.

01:16Earning her trust the way I do, it makes it all worth it.

01:21Hurry. Yeah, quick. It's all about patience. It could be weeks,

01:27it could be months, it could be years before they're

01:31accepting of anyone.

01:35With Bonnie, she's come so far. You're okay.

01:40That's a good girl. Yeah. Just recently, I was able to pet Bonnie.

01:51Yeah. And it meant so much to me. The fact that she, she trusts me that

01:58much. I'm thankful for her every day.

02:03For a cow that is terrified of people, we couldn't even get

02:07100 yards away from in the beginning. It's a lot.

02:14Come on.

02:16Yeah. Come on. Come on, Bonnie. It is amazing how animals can go through

02:24such horrible things, and they can turn around, and they can forgive, they can

02:28love us like nothing ever happened. It is so

02:32rewarding.

02:40What inspires me about Bonnie is how she never gave up.
