00:00She was constantly climbing the fence and going into a little pig's pool.
00:04At first we thought it was really cute.
00:07It's so hot we ended up putting a pool out for her too.
00:10Well, she started to visit every day.
00:13Can I help you?
00:14And then one night I discovered this raccoon was stealing food.
00:19I see you. You're not supposed to be in here.
00:21I don't have anything.
00:23We started calling her Randy.
00:26And little Randy got so comfortable that she seemed to definitely trust me.
00:31Listen, you, you can't get too brave.
00:34We had sort of a cute little connection.
00:37Well, hello there, little angel. Hi.
00:40So one day she felt comfortable enough to show up with her babies.
00:44Oh my gosh. Look at your babies, Randy. Hi.
00:50I was like, oh my God, this is so cute.
00:52It was just such a beautiful surprise.
00:54Hi, sweetheart. You're the babies again. Oh my God.
00:58They started living in this particular tree.
01:01And Randy was a great mom.
01:04Good morning.
01:06In the summer, the raccoons are going and hanging out and sharing the pools with the pigs.
01:10You know, it's really beautiful to see.
01:14Despite the different species, there is a sense of coexistence.
01:19My 26 years being here at the sanctuary, there is so much construction going on that so much of the natural habitat has been taken away.
01:26And then they have nowhere else to go.
01:28But I feel like they have found comfort here.
01:32Are we going into your house?
01:35They're welcome to stay here as long as they like.
01:38Good morning, little guys. Hi, Thumbelina.
01:41You guys want your breakfast? Is this something new? We're coming for breakfast now too?
01:46Is that something new with you guys?
01:48I'll imagine.
01:50I'll see you later.
