Transcript
00:00Let's head over to the Boston Red Sox.
00:01They got a win yesterday against the Baltimore Orioles 3-2 in part
00:05due thanks to Trevor Story's first inning home run.
00:10And Alex Cora spoke after the game about Trevor Story
00:13and what he means to this team.
00:15He's just a good player playing elite baseball.
00:19We're very proud of him.
00:20You know, like, I think, you know, last year he made a point of playing in September.
00:26If it was somebody else, he could have mailed it in,
00:28saying, you know what, I'm going to rehab.
00:30I'll be ready for next year.
00:31But he wanted to play.
00:32He wanted to be with the boys.
00:33He missed the game, you know.
00:35And I think all that work he put last year is paying off.
00:39Obviously, in the offseason, him, you know,
00:42everything he does for the team is amazing.
00:44But he prepares, man.
00:46It's a team.
00:47You know, he has a team around him.
00:48And a very special player.
00:50We're very happy for him.
00:52What a difference a year makes.
00:54I mean, unbelievable turnaround when it comes to that player
00:58who we all wanted out of here, not only last year,
01:01but the year before that.
01:04So, I am, this matchup tonight, bringing up your number one prospect,
01:11bringing up Peyton Toley, and he goes up against Skeens.
01:16Tonight at Fenway Park is electric.
01:19Especially if he can have a good outing.
01:21Well, but that's what you've been telling everybody.
01:24You're the Boston Red Sox.
01:26You've been telling everybody the last four or five years,
01:28it's all about the prospects.
01:30So, now you've got a chance to prove it, right?
01:32Right.
01:33Tonight?
01:33Will they let him go?
01:34Like, how long do you think they let him go, innings-wise?
01:37It all depends on how he plays.
01:38I get that.
01:38But do you think they pull him even if he's playing pretty well?
01:41No.
01:41We've seen them do that in the past.
01:43No, I think because I don't think he's on, like, a pitch count.
01:45You know what I mean?
01:45I don't know what their expectations are for him, let's say, in the postseason.
01:49So, with, you know, guys like Crochet and Baio and Giolito, you want to make sure you're
01:54not overworking them.
01:56With him, I think they're going to see, like, all right, if he's rolling, they'll let him
01:59roll.
02:00It's going to be great tonight.
02:0222.
02:02It's crazy.
02:03It really is.
02:04Like, that's awesome.
02:05But the fact that they can pick up some real good ground on Toronto over the weekend
02:12because Toronto's playing Milwaukee and Milwaukee's been playing lights out baseball, this is
02:18a great opportunity.
02:19And you're playing a Pittsburgh team that stinks?
02:21That stinks.
02:21You've got to sweep.
02:22Yeah.
02:23I mean, at this point, when it comes to the bad teams, because you're sitting there looking
02:27at the end of the schedule and the Blue Jays and the Tigers, like, you've got to sweep
02:33your way.
02:34You've got to sweep up the trash.
02:36Right.
02:36Yeah.
02:37And the only focus that you really have in front of you is Toronto, right?
02:41That's who you should be eyeballing.
02:43And I know we talked to Breslau, and he said, all right, we don't really look at the schedule
02:49or look past.
02:49No, come on.
02:50You must be looking at it from the front office approach.
02:54Maybe the players don't because they're in the moment.
02:56But at front office, you've got to say, all right, if we can sweep Pittsburgh and Toronto
03:01loses that series, now we're talking about a half game behind the Blue Jays, maybe a game,
03:09whatever it is.
03:09But the room you could make up right then and there is spectacular.
03:147.05 first pitch tonight, Courtney?
03:167.05.
03:17Okay.
03:17On the Shaws and Star Market Red Sox Radio Network and on the Odyssey app.
03:22I may even head over to the old ballpark tonight, Wiggy.
03:25Wow.
03:25Oh, really?
03:26That would be a beautiful night.
03:28Well, didn't Shams say Labor Day weekend, summer slipping away?
03:31No drizzle.
03:32Find out what time the drizzle comes out.
03:33There ain't no drizzle.
03:34No, Shime said Labor Day weekend.
03:35There could be a little rain tonight.
03:37Greg's going to be in a suite.
03:37It won't matter.
03:38Yeah, it's true.
03:38I like sitting out in the bleachers, actually.
03:41Yeah, definitely.
03:42Unless you're slinging glizzies.
03:43I enjoy the game from the stands.
03:45I mean, the seats are tight, but the seats are the, what's it, the Loge 15, third baseline.
03:53Yeah, but you get free food up in a suite.
03:56Right, but I get, you know, I'm in the action.
03:57I get to almost catch fly.
03:59The best seats in the house are the ones right next to the dugout.
04:03Yeah.
04:03I think those are-
04:04Well, you like to harass the players.
04:06No, no, because it's, you're on the, you're on the Red Sox side.
04:10Yeah, but you like to yell at them, too.
04:11I like to just say, what's up?
04:12See if I can get foul balls.
04:15It's a good, it's a great, baseball.
04:16I've said this before, other than basketball courtside, baseball is the best game to watch in person.
