00:00Oh, so good to see the Queen of Dance Hall tonight, nominated tonight.
00:04How does it feel to be back after hosting last year?
00:07Oh, it feels good to be back, and especially just spectating this year, so I can relax a little bit.
00:12So, I mean, as the Queen of Dance Hall from Jamaica, it feels good just to come out and support,
00:16because I tell people all the time, you have to come out and support the Caribbean Music Awards,
00:20because this belongs to us.
00:22This is ours.
00:23So this is not a small thing.
00:25This is a very big thing.
00:26And just to see all my Caribbean people just coming together, it just feels so good.
00:31I'm so humbled and grateful to just be among my own Caribbean people,
00:36knowing that we're at the Caribbean Awards.
00:37I bring up to the entire team of the Caribbean Music Awards.
00:40I had to come to support this evening.
00:44Absolutely.
00:44You were also nominated for Dance Hall Album of the Year for Mirror 25,
00:49and it was a very, very, very important album in your career and in your life.
00:52What does it mean to get that honor tonight?
00:53You know what?
00:55To be in a business, that's a male-dominated business for 25 years,
00:59because I started from 1999.
01:01To now still be relevant, I think people need to look at the big picture.
01:05I'm not here to win.
01:07I'm here to celebrate, because I'm in the category.
01:11So let's talk about the people that I'm among, and it's 25 years, and I'm still relevant.
01:17That alone is not a small thing.
01:18You still have.
01:19It's a big thing.
01:20So big up to all the other nominees, I made the best person win.
01:24So many great albums came out as well, so I'm just super excited to see who's going to be the winner.
01:28But I'm just here to support and have a good time.
01:31Absolutely.
01:31You also recently went viral for the amazing gifts you gave your son for his birthday.
01:35You follow me?
01:36Yes.
01:37He's updated.
01:38Come on.
01:38This is the queen right here.
01:40What did it mean to you as a mother to be able to give those gifts to your son for his 18th?
01:44It's good that you asked me that question, because today I'm actually dressed as Grace Hamilton, and not Spice, the mother.
01:50You notice I'm always in the blue hair and the blue outfits, but I'm coming out as Grace tonight.
01:54So people can understand that there's a difference between Spice, the persona, and Grace Hamilton, the person.
02:00And so as Grace Hamilton, the mother of two beautiful children, they mean absolutely everything to me.
02:08My son was my first inspiration.
02:10He changed my life drastically.
02:13He gave me the true meaning of love.
02:15He taught me patience.
02:17And so to be celebrating him being turned 18, I cried.
02:22Big man now.
02:23Big man now.
02:24And as a single mother as well, doing it by myself.
02:27It wasn't a walk in the park.
02:28It's not easy.
02:28The mothers out there know the walk.
02:30And so to celebrate that, I had to do it big.
02:32I couldn't do it small.
02:34I just felt accomplished.
02:35I felt like, wow, I did it.
02:37I texted him that morning and I said, wow, you're 18.
02:41Look at us.
02:42We did it.
02:43Like, I feel so humbled and grateful, you know, for that milestone.
02:47So yes, I did give him 18 gifts for his birthday, including a house and a car.
02:51But I feel like as black people, we need to set up our children for generational wealth.
02:55And just to teach them the necessity of building wealth.
03:00And they're what I'm working for.
03:02Absolutely.
03:03It is so beautiful to just see those different sides of you and to keep learning more about you after all these years.
03:08We love you so much.
03:09Thank you for stopping by the stream.
03:11We love you.
03:11We love you.
03:11And we'll see you inside.
03:12Of course.
03:13Yeah, if you're going to turn up, have a beautiful night, Ms. Spice.
03:15Thank you so much.
03:16Always a pleasure.
03:16Thank you so much.
