00:00:00By the way, for the 23 and 24 draft, you're still with the team.
00:00:03Ahead of them starters. Of course, the seventh rounder, Tess Johnson, a moment ago starring.
00:00:08He's been here for 12 seasons now, and he's made nary a mistake, hasn't he?
00:00:17Bills are out of timeouts as the return is up across the 30.
00:00:22Back to this touchdown. Watch the play-action pass. It's quick, but Tal Trast, I think, is really showcasing some of his skills.
00:00:29You know, one of the things about him that nobody talks about is his touch, because you know he has a strong arm,
00:00:33but you have to put that ball right over the top of that defender. Well done. Well done.
00:00:39He had 6'5", 6'4".5", 6'5". He's got the build Kyle Trask does.
00:00:45A little bit like Tom Brady. Right.
00:00:47He was in that Bucs uniform.
00:00:48We talked about him and being in the room with Tom and playing Gabbert, and he was bigger than both of those guys,
00:00:53so he definitely has the physique for the position.
00:00:56He's got a unique build, Chris. He's not your typical-looking defensive end like he played in college.
00:01:25That's why he projected as an interior defensive lineman here in the NFL,
00:01:28but I think he has some versatility to play both positions for this team.
00:01:32He was all ACC, transferred from Miami, Hurricanes, to SMU, and then drafted in the fifth round.
00:01:42Timeout for Tampa. Chance here if they can get the ball back.
00:01:45Again, end of half, some clock management.
00:01:48You get a stop here, get a chance to get the ball back, maybe try to steal the score at the end of the half.
00:01:53Michelle's going to slip out of that, and be brought down as he got across the 30 by John Bullock.
00:02:01We haven't talked a lot about John Bullock, and we keep talking about Nick Jackson over and over again,
00:02:06but John Bullock's another guy that has been impressive.
00:02:09He's a free agent out of Nebraska.
00:02:13He's more of an elusive type defender.
00:02:16He's only six feet tall, but he's been impressive so far in the preseason.
00:02:20It's good to see him get a lot of reps here in this last preseason game.
00:02:25Led the team in tackles last week up in Pittsburgh.
00:02:28Yeah, he had a sack, and he had the deflected pass that Nick Jackson intercepted in week one.
00:02:36Opportunity for these young defensive players of the Bucs on third and 11.
00:02:44Tampa has one timeout.
00:02:46They'll use their second one a moment ago.
00:02:47And at the sideline, open for the catch, Kristen Wilkerson.
00:03:03A nice play by Buschel, and Wilkerson was right on the spot.
00:03:09Another nice play by Buschel.
00:03:11It's over and over.
00:03:11This is a theme.
00:03:12I mean, there's a quarterback competition in this room.
00:03:14This guy looks like he's winning it.
00:03:16I'm sure he's probably going to play most of the game.
00:03:19So, these other two guys, Trubitsky and Mike White, not getting a look.
00:03:22He's showcasing himself.
00:03:24Extra pressure picked up.
00:03:26And Buschel is inside the 40 of the back.
00:03:28Stucked out for behind.
00:03:30And inside the 35, and it was Nick Jackson.
00:03:33He brought him down.
00:03:34Remember, no timeouts for Buffalo.
00:03:36So, he's trying to get there to spike it.
00:03:44That was a 12-yard pickup, and the Bucs will use a timeout here to set the defense.
00:03:50Yeah, I think it's too far for field goal here for Buffalo, even though we did see a 70-yarder.
00:03:57Yeah, there were a couple of 60-yarders, too, in the last 24 hours.
00:04:01Yeah, but I think you're right.
00:04:02Todd Bowles called this timeout just to make sure his defense is on the same page.
00:04:06Yeah, they either had too many on the field or couldn't get somebody off in time.
00:04:10So, I mean, the reality is, if you catch the ball inbounds here, if this play is inbounds for Tampa,
00:04:16and you want to set that on defense, the clock is probably going to run out.
00:04:20Tyler Bass, his career long, if you're thinking of Buffalo, is 61 yards, and he was 4 of 4 over 50 last year.
00:04:31If you're Buffalo here, you're probably taking some sort of quick shot.
00:04:34He does.
00:04:36The tackle to the field of glory.
00:04:39And the clock's going to run.
00:04:41Deion Kane hauled that in.
00:04:43Can they spike it in time?
00:04:44And the official fumbles the football.
00:04:47They've got to give him a second.
00:04:48They've got to give him a second there, right, with the official not being able to set the ball.
00:04:52Oh, team advantage here.
00:04:57Second left on the game clock.
00:04:58This is not happening.
00:04:59One second.
00:05:00One second left on the game clock.
00:05:02Game clock operator, please reset the game clock for one second.
00:05:06I mean, that's a tough job.
00:05:07The official's got to run in there between 20 guys or so, right, depending on who's in the middle.
00:05:14He did the right thing giving it to the official.
00:05:18It's all right.
00:05:20Yeah.
00:05:22Two big completions for Michelle on that drive.
00:05:25I mean, it looked like he was going to be in favor of the Bucs going the other way.
00:05:29Now there's timeouts that they took to give Buffalo a chance to get three more points here.
00:05:34Pass, no kicks in the preseason so far for a few goals.
00:05:37This run, 37 yards away.
00:05:39And he nails it for the Bills.
00:05:43A seven-point Buffalo lead.
00:05:45They kicked off to start the game.
00:05:48He'll be set to receive the second-half kickoff.
00:05:52Tyler Trask doing the best he could to secure the backup quarterback spot with Teddy Bridgewater.
00:06:01Babbling a little bit of an illness today.
00:06:02He was going to play some, but sent him home to watch.
00:06:07I'm sure he.
00:06:07And let's head down to the field with Eileen and Coach Todd Bull.
00:06:11Coach Kyle Trask went 13 of 17 for 93 yards and a touchdown.
00:06:15What did you like about his play?
00:06:17He was composed in the pocket.
00:06:19Obviously, Ted's had a lot to do with it coming up with some catching runs, but he ran the offense well and we got a chance.
00:06:25And speaking of, there's competition for depth at the receiver position.
00:06:28What do you want to see from your wideouts in the second half?
00:06:30Just executing.
00:06:31I want to see him block.
00:06:32I want to see him run the right routes.
00:06:33I want to see him make plays.
00:06:34Thanks, Coach.
00:06:35Yep.
00:06:35Guys, back to you.
00:06:37Thank you, Eileen.
00:06:38And thank you, Todd Bowles.
00:06:40Second half, General Manager Jason Light will join us in the booth to talk about the team heading into the regular season and the opener on the road at Atlanta.
00:06:48And also Baker Mayfield from the field on the headset to chat with Rhonda.
00:06:53You're enjoying Buccaneer preseason football.
00:06:56And thanks for being a part of it.
00:06:5817-10 at the break.
00:07:03Start of the second half.
00:07:05Thanks for being with us on the Buccaneers preseason television network.
00:07:08Rondé Barber, Chris Myers.
00:07:10And we welcome the General Manager of the Buccaneers, Jason Light.
00:07:12And he comes bringing a gift for Rondé Barber.
00:07:15It's also for Brian Ford and the Bucs.
00:07:17The 50-year anniversary celebration.
00:07:19Oh, look at that.
00:07:19Look at the jersey that's already personalized.
00:07:22Oh, my goodness, man.
00:07:23A little bit of the throwback that you're going to get for that Jets game.
00:07:27That's pretty sweet.
00:07:28If only I could still play, Jason.
00:07:31And tonight you might need it with the defensive backs.
00:07:33We might.
00:07:33And the injuries.
00:07:35Hey, will you keep three quarterbacks?
00:07:37How's that quarterback decision going behind Baker?
00:07:40Way to jump right into it.
00:07:42It's a layup question, Jason.
00:07:44We're on the clock.
00:07:46We still have a lot of decisions we have to make here.
00:07:48It's a little tricky with us keeping Tristan and Chris on the 53 to get them through the rehab process.
00:07:55It's going to be a little bit different year where we're going to have to rely a lot on the practice squad guys to get us through because we can elevate them now.
00:08:01That's a new thing on the last few years.
00:08:03So we'll see how it goes here.
00:08:05How is this evaluation going to go?
00:08:07I mean, obviously, it's the same way with all these players.
00:08:09But in your mind, what's it going to take for one of those two dudes to separate themselves as quarterback number two?
00:08:15You know, a lot of that work's been done already.
00:08:18You know, we wanted this as another game for Kyle to put a little show what he can do a little bit.
00:08:22But, you know, the majority of what we've seen in practice is we're going to lean on.
00:08:28But, you know, we still have some conversations we had to make.
00:08:31Right.
00:08:31We've talked about some of the draft picks, free agent moves you've made.
00:08:34But, boy, just tonight, Tez Johnson, the seventh rounder, and you've got Josh Williams, the free agent running back from LSU.
00:08:40They have done very well.
00:08:43Yeah, no, that's been fun to see.
00:08:44It's been fun to see Elijah Roberts having a big play there, too.
00:08:47You know, these young guys are stepping up.
00:08:50That's what we want to see.
00:08:51We've got to stop the backflips in the end zone now.
00:08:54Yeah, you can celebrate.
00:08:56Just make sure you're healthy as the completion made for Buffalo Buschel continuing his fine play.
00:09:02Jason, we've been highlighting Tez Johnson all day.
00:09:04It was a rookie review that we did earlier.
00:09:06We showcased his skill sets.
00:09:09What was it about Tez that really drew you to him in the draft process that made you come get him in the seventh round?
00:09:14Well, it was the whole staff.
00:09:16Every time we watched Oregon tape, he was, you know, possibly one of the best players on the field.
00:09:21So both teams.
00:09:23And, you know, did the same thing at the Senior Bowl.
00:09:24Just jumped off the tape, making plays.
00:09:26One of the fastest players on the field.
00:09:28He's just a playmaker.
00:09:29And he's just got that natural instinct to make plays.
00:09:32He plays with a lot of enthusiasm.
00:09:34Buschel on the move and going to scramble upfield.
00:09:38And up across the 40-yard line, there is a playmaker.
00:09:41I know analytics are part of it.
00:09:43It's really more a baseball thing, but they use it in football.
00:09:45Is AI a legal motion?
00:09:48Offense number 32.
00:09:50Five-yard penalty.
00:09:51Second down.
00:09:52Is AI now a part of things for what you do in assessing players?
00:09:56Not really assessing players.
00:09:58I would say that, you know, it's creeping into, you know, it's creeping into everything that we do a little bit.
00:10:05But, you know, it's just such a general term that we say AI.
00:10:07We've used analytics for a long time to help us find comparables and help us find with players.
00:10:14And gives us discussions of, is he the same player as this guy?
00:10:17You know, similar things like that.
00:10:19But we don't plug them into a machine and say, which player are we going to draft?
00:10:22I can promise as long as I'm here, that's not going to draft.
00:10:24Well, right, and you have talked about how you've adjusted a little bit, if I'm reading right.
00:10:29It's a great article by Dan Buffet on just some of the work you've done with the draft.
00:10:34And you can measure the physical things, but I guess getting either to know the player,
00:10:38I'll let you explain for the audience who may not have caught that,
00:10:41that you have to kind of just weed out the things that you don't want in a guy, I guess.
00:10:45Yeah, you know, we want to mitigate the risk, and it's, we've kind of went deep dive a few years ago,
00:10:52and, you know, the players that we've missed on, we didn't really miss on their physical talent,
00:10:56we missed on, you know, what was above the next.
00:10:58So, you know, we looked at all of the great bucks of all time,
00:11:03including this guy standing right here, you're right.
00:11:05And it's guys that love football, it means everything to them, they're good teammates,
00:11:10they might have a few things off the field, I don't know if Rondae did.
00:11:13But he hit it well.
00:11:15We can give second chances to people, but we want, in terms of what they bring to the team,
00:11:20and they want to win, and they're mature, and they go about it the right way,
00:11:24those are the kind of guys that we want.
00:11:25This is going to be a layup question for you, because you get to talk about your staff.
00:11:29You lost John Spitek, he goes to be the general manager in Las Vegas,
00:11:32and you get to elevate some guys.
00:11:34Talk about those guys, because I know you take a lot of the credit,
00:11:38or you get a lot of the credit, but you were quick to give it out to the guys
00:11:41that really helped you behind the scenes.
00:11:42And they deserve as much as I did.
00:11:50With John leaving, you know, it was, it was,
00:11:53we knew that he was going to, at some point, get one of these opportunities,
00:11:57just like I think a couple, a few of my other guys are going to get opportunities.
00:12:00But it allowed me to elevate Rob McCartney, who's been with me the whole time here.
00:12:04Mike Beal, that's been with me the whole time, he was one of my first hires back in 2014.
00:12:09Tony Hardy, you know, Shane Scandal, Donovan Cotton, Sean Conley,
00:12:14I mean, go on and on and on.
00:12:15And it kind of allows everybody to kind of step up, and they're ready for the role.
00:12:20Ed Gaynor there, onto the tight end for Buffalo on the receiving end, and a short run.
00:12:26We saw Todd Bowles, congrats on the extension of contracts for you and him.
00:12:29And what was, went into the process of replacing your offensive coordinator
00:12:33and going to Josh Broussard, who was on the staff last year,
00:12:36and having him elevate, calling plays for the first time in the NFL?
00:12:39It was actually a great process that Todd had me involved in.
00:12:44And we brought in, like, two years ago when we hired Liam,
00:12:48we brought in several, you know, dozen coaches to talk about that.
00:12:55And it was later on, Dave Canales first, and then Liam, the next year,
00:13:01and then this year, we went through the whole process again, and Josh just stood out.
00:13:07I do want to ask about players for Trent.
00:13:09I know you can't talk about guys that are under contract to other teams,
00:13:12but have there been, do you hear the team say, hey, do they call and say, hey, we're off,
00:13:17or this guy's available if you're interested in him?
00:13:19Think of the names that are out there, like Trey Hendrickson and Micah Parsons,
00:13:22and some of those guys that we love to talk about and fans want to talk about.
00:13:26Yeah, in a couple of those cases, yeah.
00:13:29More so right now, it's been, take a look at this position group.
00:13:33We're heavy.
00:13:34Take a look at, we're looking for, we're light at this position to see if there's a marriage,
00:13:39if we want to give something up to get something that we're going to light up.
00:13:44No major trade talks have happened right now.
00:13:47But, you know, we like all of our guys, unless something jumps out that just, you know,
00:13:53you can't, it makes sense from a value standpoint, giving up picks, which I love our picks here.
00:13:58And then from a money standpoint, we have a lot of players that are going to be coming up here in the next few years.
00:14:03So, I don't, yeah, you know, is it worth not signing,
00:14:07trading for somebody that's not going to allow you to sign three or four of your own guys?
00:14:10Right.
00:14:11As you get ready to wrap up the preseason here, last game, and there's some areas that probably are still some concern,
00:14:16how will you address that after a cut day goes down?
00:14:19I mean, it's always a question that I think fans have about how you get better positions that you still probably need some help at.
00:14:26Well, in a lot of these positions, they're not just, nobody's going to let, I'm just using these positions,
00:14:32I'm not necessarily saying that we're weak there.
00:14:33But, you know, you can't find a left tackle, right?
00:14:37Nobody's going to let a great tackle go.
00:14:38Nobody's going to let a great pass rusher go.
00:14:40Nobody's going to let a great corner go.
00:14:43So, it's, you've got to have to start looking at some of these guys that become available,
00:14:47develop, bring them in, practice squad, develop them, and then, you know,
00:14:51you can't take care of all of your major needs at the cut down.
00:14:55And the assumption you touched on it, they may not start the season, but they will be at least active.
00:15:01Chris Godwin, it's just the worst.
00:15:02I mean, as you took care of it, you're going to need down the road.
00:15:06So, optimistically, I think Buck fans are saying, hey, we'll probably see them maybe by the fourth game.
00:15:11If not sooner, is that your best shot?
00:15:13I wouldn't say that in some case.
00:15:16You know, we're going to take it, we're going to take it week by week here.
00:15:19We want to make sure we're really, really happy with where they're at, both of them.
00:15:22I think Tristan might be ready a little bit sooner than Chris, but, you know,
00:15:26I don't want to, I say that tongue-in-cheek, but it's, we want to make sure that they are ready to go.
00:15:31These are both long-term commitments for us, and we don't want to throw them out there too early,
00:15:34and then, you know, all of a sudden, disaster strikes.
00:15:37You've had some really good first-round picks over the years, Chris,
00:15:40and I know you made the decision this year to go and draft a knucklehead hook out of Ohio State,
00:15:46which everybody thought wasn't a position to need,
00:15:48but ultimately, it's probably one of the smartest decisions you could have made.
00:15:51Yeah, it's, you know, we took Emeka, and Todd's a defensive coordinator.
00:15:58I don't want to say, he hates it when you say defensive mentality coach.
00:16:02He wants to win, and we were on board with this the entire time.
00:16:05He's such a mature, plug-and-play guy.
00:16:09I mean, he just blows you away within five minutes of talking to him
00:16:13and being around him, how professional he is.
00:16:15And, you know, your first pick as the Bucs GM was Mike Evans' receiver.
00:16:19He's done okay, and now you've got Emeka, and, by the way,
00:16:22Theo did a good job telling you to draft Tez Johnson.
00:16:24That's your son, right?
00:16:25I heard he talked you into that, and hopefully the seventh rounder will cut through.
00:16:28That kick is good for Buffalo, and we thank Jason Leifert coming by.
00:16:33It's always nice to talk to you.
00:16:34Appreciate your candor, and good luck.
00:16:35Have a great season.
00:16:36Thanks, Jay.
00:16:37I appreciate you, buddy.
00:16:38Keep up the good work.
00:16:40All right.
00:16:41Tampa Bay on offense trailing 20-10 when we continue.

00:16:54Any other use of this broadcast or any pictures, descriptions, or accounts of the game
00:16:57without the consent of NFL Productions is prohibited.
00:17:02Bucs ready to receive the kick, trailing by 10.
00:17:05Hey, raise the flags, be part of Tampa Bay's biggest party.
00:17:08It's the Bucs' 50th season.
00:17:10Limited season passes remain for the historic year.
00:17:12Join the crew today at Buccaneers.com.
00:17:16Shout out to the Joe Bucs fan, Ira Kaufman, the coverage of the day,
00:17:20where you are your Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
00:17:22Cameron Johnson on another return.
00:17:24Oh!
00:17:26Hands up to the side.
00:17:31Well, Thomas McGehee's got to be really happy about his return units today.
00:17:34That's the third long kickoff return that this team has had.
00:17:39And, you know, with this new rule, Chris, there is not going to be very many balls going into the end zone
00:17:43because of the penalty, if you will, getting it to the 35-yard line.
00:17:47So I think it's going to be a very exciting year in terms of kick returns in the NFL.
00:17:51And it looks like the Bucs got two pretty good ones right here.
00:17:54And Cam Johnson fighting for a roster spot.
00:17:57Just had a nice play there.
00:17:58Great point on the kickoff.
00:18:00That return of 57 yards to the 38-yard line as Connor Bazelak is in at quarterback after Trask.
00:18:07Worked the first half on right, knocked down.
00:18:10And Josh Grisard, Trask, pretty nice job there.
00:18:14Still undecided, apparently, according to the general manager and head coach on that backup quarterback.
00:18:18Josh Grisard has come back down to the sideline from upstairs on the booth.
00:18:22So I think we know where he's going to spend the season calling plays.
00:18:26You know, Kofensy Henson, who was his assistant, who was down on the field earlier.
00:18:32We didn't get a chance to show a picture of him.
00:18:33But he transferred himself back upstairs.
00:18:36And now the coordinator's sitting down probably where he wants to be.
00:18:40Well, you know, he was there last year.
00:18:42Dane Jackson, by the way, the injured bill who's being helped to the sideline.
00:18:45Actually walking now himself.
00:18:47Slow getting up.
00:18:48Hope that he's okay.
00:18:49But, Grisard, you know, you want to communicate.
00:18:53Baker Mayfield, a veteran, face-to-face.
00:18:55But then you see more up here than you do.
00:18:58And that's what he used to do.
00:18:59It's interesting how some, you know, play callers decide.
00:19:03Isn't Joe Brady upstairs at Buffalo?
00:19:06And it's just a matter of feel and closeness to the game.
00:19:10And, you know, Thad Lewis, who's right there behind Josh Grisard as a quarterback coach,
00:19:13obviously he can communicate with the quarterbacks as well.
00:19:16But I think he wants more of a hands-on feel, and that little upstairs experiment lasted, what, 30 minutes?
00:19:22Well, he'll ultimately decide a lot of decisions that will be made in the next couple of weeks.
00:19:27Mass is complete.
00:19:30Speaking of decisions, this quarterback, Connor Baselike, I think has been really, really good.
00:19:37Now, he doesn't have a strong arm.
00:19:38It's downfield accuracy and power is something that he lacks, but that intermediate to, short to intermediate passing game,
00:19:45he was really efficient last week.
00:19:48You can see how much timing plays into his game.
00:19:51He's really good at getting the ball in and out of his hands.
00:19:53He has excellent footwork.
00:19:54When I watched the film from last week's game, his footwork stood out for me.
00:19:58So, if you're a quarterback guru or somebody who thinks they are, just watch the way this guy handles himself in the pocket.
00:20:03Grisard has talked about his on-field smarts.
00:20:07That should have been talked maybe by Trey Palmer.
00:20:10Let's check in with Eileen.
00:20:12Yeah, guys, rookie Connor Baselike said,
00:20:14This experience has been amazing to absorb everything, including from Baker Mayfield.
00:20:19I asked him what was the biggest thing he's learned.
00:20:21He said the way Mayfield prepares, he doesn't take one practice lightly.
00:20:25He's 100% every day.
00:20:27Ironically, Baselike grew up a Browns fan.
00:20:31He also told me, this is cliche, but it is a dream come true,
00:20:35and he's been working for this moment his entire life.
00:20:37Guys.
00:20:38All right.
00:20:38Thank you, Eileen.
00:20:39Eileen leads him in position here for a field goal after that great return from 50 yards away.
00:20:46And it's good.
00:20:49Chase McLaughlin in the bank, 2013.
00:21:02A couple of games into the season, Levante David will get up there with Rondé Barber and Derek Brooks.
00:21:06200 games as a Buccaneer, most ever, all defenders.
00:21:10But we asked the question, here's the answer to our trivia,
00:21:12who played the most games for the Bucs on offense?
00:21:16And the answer, Dave Moore.
00:21:18Nobody got that.
00:21:20The tight end, 190 games with all the great offensive players.
00:21:24He's played the most as a Tampa Bay Buccaneer.
00:21:28And he debuted in the top 50 Bucs of all time at number 46.
00:21:33We're still waiting for your name on that list.
00:21:35We haven't gotten into the top 15 or top 20 yet, I don't believe.
00:21:38He played 13 years here, man.
00:21:40That's a lot of time for a tight end.
00:21:42Obviously, a lot of those years was a long snap in his career.
00:21:46But Dave Moore was a great player here.
00:21:48He was actually, Chris, a locker mate of mine my rookie year.
00:21:52Because we were in that old building.
00:21:53They didn't have separate lockers for everybody.
00:21:56We were in the trailers.
00:21:57And Dave Moore and I shared a lot.
00:21:59We actually shared an agent, too, earlier in our career.
00:22:02And Dave Moore, he's been doing Bucs radio with the great Gene Deckerhoff for 19 years now
00:22:08as one of the voices that's bringing you Bucs football during the regular season.
00:22:13It's a very him and Gene.
00:22:15It's a folksy, enjoyable listen.
00:22:17Connecting with the Bucs.
00:22:18What a return by LaVisca Chenault all the way out to the 40.
00:22:22We've seen some excellent returns from both teams.
00:22:27Zach Davidson.
00:22:30Bucs football healthy pickups.
00:22:31Bucs football is having a lot of success on that play.
00:22:33Just finding guys out in front.
00:22:35One guy come up and make a play.
00:22:37As a defender, haven't been able to do it.
00:22:40Rashawn Wisdom really close to making a play there.
00:22:42But look at the lane it's created.
00:22:44Good blocking.
00:22:45Great blocking down the field.
00:22:46Yeah, it was a 20-yard pickup.
00:22:48Looked like it was maybe going to be good for 5 or 10
00:22:51and over 200 yards as Buschel.
00:22:54Some depth at the tight end position for the Buffalo Bills.
00:22:57I mean, it's great expectation.
00:22:59It's like it'll lose to Kansas City.
00:23:02Balls snapped, bobbled, recovered.
00:23:05Yeah, you know, Bucs football is great.
00:23:07I mean, we've got time to talk about them for a little bit here.
00:23:10They've been to the playoffs, you know, five straight division titles here.
00:23:13Sean McDermott in his ninth year.
00:23:15You feel like this is a team that's, like, destined to get there.
00:23:18And they just cannot beat the Chiefs in the championship game.
00:23:21They've got four losses in the championship game.
00:23:2421 and 25, they made it to the AFC championship game
00:23:27and lost to Kansas City.
00:23:28And they're knocking on the door every single year
00:23:30with a great quarterback and some great players on offense.
00:23:33No Super Bowl yet for this staff.
00:23:36Sean McDermott, his ninth season.
00:23:38Good chance to get there this year.
00:23:42Of course, James Cook, they settled that.
00:23:45The running star will have Josh Allen,
00:23:47who is good for touchdowns through the air, around the ground.
00:23:51But look at that record.
00:23:52In fact, the Bills have won 61 games in the last five seasons.
00:23:56Only the Chiefs have won more.
00:23:59The Bucs are actually sixth on that list.
00:24:00But the new stadium is coming next year.
00:24:04And they'll still get the advantage of snow.
00:24:07At least at the right time of year.
00:24:09It's one of the toughest places you'll ever play, man.
00:24:12It's a great, great stadium.
00:24:14Great fan base up there.
00:24:16Buffalo Mafia.
00:24:17And you know that Josh Allen can throw the ball in any kind of way.
00:24:20Josh Allen, his first year, he wasn't this guy.
00:24:32You know, the guy that's been the MVP of the league.
00:24:35His first year, he struggled.
00:24:36Same draft as Baker Mayfield.
00:24:38You mentioned that earlier in the broadcast, Chris.
00:24:40And that actually he's a pick because the Bucs traded back to get Vita Veya.
00:24:45And I was talking to Brandon Bean, their general manager, earlier.
00:24:48And it was his first pick.
00:24:50You know, his first pick came in 17.
00:24:52Josh came in 18.
00:24:53But he didn't do the draft in 17.
00:24:55He did the draft for Wyoming to get this quarterback in Wyoming who everybody assumed was going to be good.
00:25:00And he struggled.
00:25:01And he started to wonder what he was going to be.
00:25:04And goodness gracious, he's turning to a pretty good football player.
00:25:07That's the play called Canberra.
00:25:09Good play by Rashawn Wisdom.
00:25:11And again, we talked about this battle of backup safety.
00:25:14I think Wisdom, who doesn't look the part.
00:25:16I mean, he's small, and I know the Bucs have a lot of shorter safety-type players.
00:25:20But Todd Bowles was telling me that last week he went in and played nickel, where he's playing today.
00:25:26And he coached him up in the locker room at halftime because we didn't have enough players.
00:25:30Corners injuries were down.
00:25:31Safety injuries were down.
00:25:32And this kid just went out and went out and started making plays.
00:25:35And he's looking pretty good tonight, too.
00:25:36And they meet him at the injuries in that secondary.
00:25:44Second down after the last four catch made on the 25-yard line.
00:25:50That's Deion Penny in his third year.
00:25:55Over Indianapolis culpits where he was drafted.
00:25:57When you talk about the injuries in the secondary, who just made that tackle is Ty Avery.
00:26:01They signed him yesterday.
00:26:02The corner, number 30, out there.
00:26:04There's a safety out there.
00:26:06Will Brooks, after Shiloh Sanders got ejected from the game.
00:26:10You got another guy, Will Brooks, who's only been in the building for a couple of days as well,
00:26:15playing in this last preseason game.
00:26:17So Kendall Virgo, we haven't seen that.
00:26:20We can assume that he's probably going to make this team to form a Chicago.
00:26:23He had a bunch of good plays last week.
00:26:26He started this game at Conny.
00:26:28And he did great specialty value.
00:26:29And I think these guys have to show themselves to be great specialty players.
00:26:33On third down, catch short of the first down.
00:26:36But a good tackle by Trey Avery.
00:26:38Trey Avery, sorry.
00:26:38It's all right.
00:26:39Former Tennessee title is right.
00:26:41Just added this week after three seasons.
00:26:43And they played Tennessee to start the Greek season.
00:26:45I didn't even have it in my scouting report.
00:26:48I didn't have time to look him up.
00:26:51I'm sure Buffalo, too, would have loved to have picked him up if they had the opportunity.
00:26:56And fourth down, so Tyler Bass will come on.
00:27:00To try a field goal of 39 yards.
00:27:04He's made from 37 twice in this game.
00:27:13Bass's kick.
00:27:13Sales a little bit, but it's good through the upright just right.
00:27:20And a 10-point Buffalo lead.
00:27:22A minute 30 to go here in the third quarter.
00:27:24For the best Bucs coverage all season long, stay with News Channel 8, your official Bucs station.
00:27:40It's the 50-year anniversary of the franchise.
00:27:43A couple of Super Bowls in the Glaser family.
00:27:45Malcolm Glaser bought the team back in 1995.
00:27:48And what they've done over the years, the Glaser children, Joel, Brian, Ed, Darcy, not only with the team, as we get a look at Darcy before the game, and some of the family members.
00:27:58There's Brian Ford, they've done a lot with charity groups.
00:28:02Even more recently, those affected by the hurricanes.
00:28:05They have certainly helped build playgrounds for young children, a number of charity events.
00:28:10And I know Darcy's involved in some flag football as well.
00:28:13Yeah, they are fantastic coming out.
00:28:15I think one of the most important things they did was right after the hurricanes here, and I'll talk about that in a second.
00:28:26Whether it's DIY day?
00:28:28Huh?
00:28:32D-R day.
00:28:35Game day.
00:28:36Yeah, it's game day.
00:28:44Birthday.
00:28:45Advent Health keeps you ready for every day.
00:28:49And for everything that makes you feel whole.
00:28:53Exclusive hospital of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
00:28:57So following the hurricanes Helene and Milton last year, they started a family small business fund.
00:29:02Donated $2 million for the local relief.
00:29:05And this family, I know they're quiet around the community, don't really hear, they're not yelling at you about what they're doing.
00:29:12But they are so, so involved.
00:29:14And they've been that way since the beginning.
00:29:15I mean, it was somewhat of an edict from Malcolm back in the day that they were going to be part of this community as much as putting together a really good football team.
00:29:23And I'm just continually impressed with what they're doing.
00:29:27This Glazer Vision Foundation, there was a showcase up on the screen here earlier in the game.
00:29:32Titus O'Neil was showcasing the Glazer Vision Foundation.
00:29:36And you mentioned Darcy Glazer.
00:29:37Her She Football Weekend is just fantastic.
00:29:40She's got flag football, the biggest flag, gross flag football tournament in the country.
00:29:46They come to the facility and they really host it.
00:29:48They do it so, so well.
00:29:50One thing to run a football team to compete for the playoffs at a Super Bowl but then have such involvement in the community is Aaron Wright carries on that previous pass completion of 22 yards.
00:30:02It was tight end Devin Culp, who I think we may see a little more of in the offense.
00:30:07Absolutely.
00:30:08I mean, they really haven't done a whole lot at tight end in the preseason.
00:30:11But the one guy who has shown up continually is Devin Culp in the preseason.
00:30:15And that's a pretty set position with Kate Otten, who's our starter.
00:30:20But you're looking for another receiving option.
00:30:22This is it.
00:30:23This is him.
00:30:26In his second season, the seventh rounder from Washington.
00:30:29Another late pick that the Bucs are developing.
00:30:32Bazelang hits Culp on the other side.
00:30:36And the ball comes out inside the 40.
00:30:38And the Bills, the number one team when it comes to taking the football away in the fumble category.
00:30:47Pausing and creating, recovering the Bills last year in the regular season.
00:30:52And then they do it here, knocking it out of Culp and recovering for a first down, Buffalo.
00:31:06Five seconds remaining here in the quarter.
00:31:09And that just ended a really good drive that Bazelang was putting together again.
00:31:14And I was talking to Jason Light about the quarterback earlier.
00:31:18And you know when a guy is a quick processor and controls the game and it's not too big for him.
00:31:25When the team knows.
00:31:26He said the team knows.
00:31:28And they stopped calling him eight really quickly in the process.
00:31:31And they call him Baze now.
00:31:34So you know that they like him.
00:31:35He's happy they're just getting his last name right instead of adding a syllable.
00:31:39It's Baze Lac.
00:31:39And that's a nice completion from Buschel.
00:31:45Buffalo most fumble recoveries in the league last year at 16.
00:31:48End of the third quarter.
00:31:50Buffalo leading the Bucks on the Tico scoreboard.
00:31:53Tampa Electric.
00:31:54Together we can power through any storm.
00:32:06A check on what's ahead.
00:32:08Brought to you by your local GMC dealers.
00:32:11GMC.
00:32:12We are professional grade.
00:32:14And the opener.
00:32:15September 7th on the road against the team that the Bucks, as well as they did last year, winning the division.
00:32:21They didn't beat Atlanta.
00:32:22Yeah, they lost to Atlanta twice.
00:32:24Two good games.
00:32:25Great.
00:32:25One-one-two overtime.
00:32:26This Atlanta team started 6-2 and then obviously slid towards the end of the season.
00:32:30But they got a new starting quarterback.
00:32:32Michael Penix will take over that team.
00:32:34But they look to be the most improved in the NFC South.
00:32:37They drafted some players on defense.
00:32:39It'll be very, very interesting how this team matches up with the Buccaneers.
00:32:45Raheem Morris there, of course.
00:32:46Buck fans familiar with him.
00:32:48It's just amazing to me that Atlanta team that all the offensive talent they have, that they don't just score more.
00:32:54I know they're going through some defensive problems.
00:32:55Right.
00:32:56He's John Robinson, Drake London, you know, Kyle Bitts.
00:32:59I mean, it's over and over and over.
00:33:01So many talented players on that team.
00:33:03They lost an offensive lineman to an injury, unfortunately.
00:33:06I mean, injuries affecting teams in the preseason.
00:33:09Guys, if they were counting on for the regular season.
00:33:11But, yes, Carolina, New Orleans still trying to sort out their quarterback situation in the NFC South.
00:33:17Meanwhile, in the AFC East, Young carries the rookie from Western Kentucky.
00:33:24I mean, Buffalo, I think people are just automatically just saying, you know, hey, you know, the division's yours.
00:33:30Then what do you do after that?
00:33:32I think Miami is looking for a bounce back here.
00:33:36McDaniels has a task ahead of him.
00:33:39You know, he's probably one of the coaches on the hot seat.
00:33:41And he's got to find a way to beat Buffalo.
00:33:42But Buffalo is just so tough on offense.
00:33:44And we don't talk about their defense.
00:33:46But they have some players on that side of the ball as well.
00:33:48I think having on defense for them, having Mike Milano back, who's been hurt for a lot, will help them on defense.
00:33:54But they have some issues at planning, too.
00:33:56So we've got some questions answered here.
00:33:58We've got some defense that has thrived on takeaways so far in the preseason.
00:34:13He's yet to record one.
00:34:15And you're looking for a stop here.
00:34:17And they get one from Will Brooks.
00:34:20This is a really nice play coming in and deflect.
00:34:21That was going to be a completion if he hadn't stuck his hand in there.
00:34:24Good job.
00:34:24This guy, again, hasn't really been on the roster.
00:34:27He's just out here trying to get some film and goes out and makes a really good play.
00:34:32Bucs picked him up from the Chiefs roster.
00:34:35Working from Tennessee.
00:34:38Bills had scored on their last four drives but not there.
00:34:42And back to receive the punt.
00:34:49Cameron Johnson had a strong kickoff return.
00:34:52Baker Mayfield will join us on the headset interview from the field.
00:35:06We'll talk with him live in just a moment.
00:35:08Here in the fourth, let's welcome in Baker Mayfield for a sideline conversation presented by Audible hearing centers.
00:35:21Hear better, connect better.
00:35:23No NFL quarterback has grown for more touchdown passes in the last two seasons than Baker Mayfield.
00:35:29He's already a top 50 all-time Buccaneer.
00:35:31How about that?
00:35:31I'm not surprised about that.
00:35:33And we welcome him in.
00:35:34Hey, Baker.
00:35:34What's up, man?
00:35:35Good to talk to you guys, man.
00:35:36Yeah, always good to talk.
00:35:37Good to have you on.
00:35:38I've got to ask you a question.
00:35:39This is your first preseason, not taking any snaps in the preseason.
00:35:43How do you feel going into year, what is this year, eight?
00:35:46Eight, yeah.
00:35:47Honestly, it feels good.
00:35:49I mean, two sessions of joint practice with the Titans and the Steelers.
00:35:54Feel really good where we're at offensively, especially with the starters and the guys, just communication-wise, timing and whatnot.
00:36:00A lot of those guys are the same pieces.
00:36:02And then the new ones that we added, I have good chemistry with already.
00:36:05So we feel good.
00:36:06Right.
00:36:07And that's the question.
00:36:08Chris Godwin is going to be out for the foreseeable future.
00:36:11Jalen McMillan is going to be out for the foreseeable future.
00:36:15Talk about some of these young guys that are going to have to step up for you.
00:36:18Yeah.
00:36:18I mean, offense still goes through Mike in the run game.
00:36:21But then when you add a guy like Emeka Obuka that has learned every single receiver spot from the beginning, that's a special talent.
00:36:29So gotten a lot of work in with him.
00:36:31And then just where we were at last year, a lot of injuries in the receiver room.
00:36:35And a lot of these guys that I had to get chemistry with on the fly, we had a lot more time to work on that this offseason and then the training camp.
00:36:42So, I mean, Tez Johnson, new addition for us.
00:36:45Ryan Miller, Sterling Shepard.
00:36:46I mean, Trey.
00:36:47Yeah, it sucks losing J-Mac because I just think he had an unbelievable offseason.
00:36:52I think, you know, bringing in Emeka pushed him even more and he handled it the right way.
00:36:56So I hate that for him.
00:36:57But we've got a lot of talent and then tight end room still solid as well.
00:37:01Yeah, you talked about Tez.
00:37:02We've been talking about him all game.
00:37:03He's just a dynamic guy.
00:37:05Exciting to watch him get the ball in his hands.
00:37:08Talk about Josh Grisard a little bit.
00:37:10He's sure that you're going to like him being down in the field or up in the booth.
00:37:14We were having that discussion earlier.
00:37:15He came down in halftime to get back on the field.
00:37:18He's got what you call a classic case of FOMO.
00:37:21He needs to be down here.
00:37:22And for me, honestly, I like it when they're down here.
00:37:25Just being able to have conversations with them, not getting on the phone.
00:37:28And then I think they can also just, you know, read the vibe of the whole offense when they're down here.
00:37:32Be able to communicate what they're trying to get to, set up some plays and whatnot.
00:37:36But I love Gris.
00:37:37You know, he was in all of our meetings last year.
00:37:40And just having that communication and relationship prior to him being the OC was obviously helped ease things along.
00:37:45But, no, he's clear and concise in the communication when he's trying to get done.
00:37:49And then I think the guys understand some of the third downs were dialed in because of him last year.
00:37:55On the return, back to home.
00:37:58Stopped inside their own 39.
00:38:00I think we had more time.
00:38:01Have a great season.
00:38:02This will be the seventh straight year you're starting a season opener.
00:38:05Have a great one.
00:38:05We'll talk to you down the road.
00:38:06Appreciate it, guys.
00:38:07Take care.
00:38:08Baker Mayfield will continue from Raymond James in a moment.
00:38:1930-year-old Baker Mayfield.
00:38:22Appreciate him spending some time with us.
00:38:24Tonight's Good Greek moving at stores.
00:38:26Move of the game.
00:38:28Good Greek, your superhero movers.
00:38:30Tess Johnson.
00:38:31Well, we know what he could have been if he wasn't a football player.
00:38:34Good.
00:38:34Chippus.
00:38:36Jason Light does not like that, by the way.
00:38:38It doesn't Jason Light jump at the pool after a victory?
00:38:40Yes, he does.
00:38:41So that'll cover the theatrics.
00:38:43He wants Tess healthy.
00:38:45The seventh-round rookie having a big night and glad that he's healthy
00:38:48and contributing in more than just the receiving game.
00:38:51He's fun to watch.
00:38:52So electrifying as that pass is complete.
00:38:57Bouchelle to Chanel.
00:38:59He struggles.
00:39:01He's someone who can feel it.
00:39:02He's a good man.
00:39:03You know, I mentioned Bouchelle's father played Major League Baseball, Steve Bouchelle,
00:39:08for 11 seasons.
00:39:09Most of them with the Rangers had over 130 home runs.
00:39:12But his father's roommate back in college at Stanford, NFL quarterback,
00:39:17by the name of John Elway.
00:39:19So there's some connections through the family from the baseball field
00:39:24to the football field and the quarterback position.
00:39:29And the down and distance brought to you by Atherton Health,
00:39:31the exclusive hospital of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
00:39:35First down, straight ahead, inside the 45.
00:39:39Young, the rookie of Western Kentucky, the little tougher with the carry.
00:39:45It's amazing.
00:39:47Your bucket full of dollars.
00:39:50Well, we try to, you know, preseason, unlike the regular season,
00:39:53where the game is the thing.
00:39:55Here it's the performance, the player, the individual.
00:39:59I mean, I love the Betez story with Bo Nix, the adoption.
00:40:02I mean, you hear these stories in college, but, you know, people who haven't paid attention.
00:40:05And now they're both in the NFL.
00:40:08It's just nice to see guys pursuing a dream, even if they're not the front line starter,
00:40:14just to get on a roster to play in a game.
00:40:16But you went through that and went on to the Hall of Fame, so the goals and the opportunities are there.
00:40:22You're exactly right, Chris.
00:40:23This is a tough time of year.
00:40:25These guys that you've been in a locker room with for months now, you know,
00:40:29whether you're draft pick or free agent, you spend all this time with this team,
00:40:33and then you come to your last preseason game, you realize that the dream is kind of going away
00:40:38for some of these guys.
00:40:39So it's always a tough time of year, but it is a chance to tell some of these stories.
00:40:43And I think that's what I think we should appreciate about the preseason,
00:40:47guys getting their opportunity to showcase themselves and maybe get a chance to play this great game.
00:40:52You know, like linebacker Nick Jackson, who we're talking about in his college career,
00:40:56he played 73 games.
00:40:58He had on 555 tackles, which was second most all time.
00:41:02And the guy wasn't drafted.
00:41:03And he's starting to make an NFL roster.
00:41:09It's Deion Jones who first got there on Young.
00:41:13And it's fourth and short, protecting the ten-point lead.
00:41:18They're going to go.
00:41:19Strong tackle here by Deion Jones.
00:41:21I mean, this guy was a pro bowler at one point,
00:41:23playing in the fourth quarter of the preseason game,
00:41:25the last preseason game that tells you how hard this struggle is to stay in the NFL.
00:41:30Obviously, competition with him and Nick Jackson and Don Bullock as well.
00:41:35He was named after Deion Sanders.
00:41:38Frank Gore, Jr., named after...
00:41:39He was named, Frank Gore.
00:41:41On a fourth down, straight ahead.
00:41:46Jumped backward.
00:41:47And he got it.
00:41:52It looked like he got it.
00:41:53I was hoping one of those, you know, virtual measurements for a way to show it.
00:41:57Nice.
00:41:57They have that this year.
00:41:59The rookie from Nebraska, Nash Lauddanger.
00:42:06Yeah, a couple of the Oscars on this.
00:42:08Yeah, free agents on this football team, obviously.
00:42:12Jason Mike from Nebraska.
00:42:14Sure, that played a little bit.
00:42:17He's got connections.
00:42:21Pressure on Sean McDermott.
00:42:23You know, it's one thing to consistently win, but when a standard is set, like with Buffalo,
00:42:29it's young inside the 30 where it's not enough.
00:42:35And I would say they are, I mean, the Chiefs, yes,
00:42:37they're the AFC champs until somebody else knocks them off, you know, to get to the Super Bowl.
00:42:42But they're probably, I mean, they're the favorite by most people I talk to, Buffalo.
00:42:46I would agree with you.
00:42:46And, you know, you talk about their aspirations, about the Bucs' aspirations.
00:42:50They have as many times as they've made the playoffs since they've won the Super Bowl.
00:42:54And they've been close a couple of times, the Bucs have,
00:42:56and haven't been able to get through, you know, either the division or the wild card round.
00:43:01So, you know, I look at this Bucs team and say, where can they go?
00:43:04And I think they have talent.
00:43:06There's a couple of areas where they need to improve for sure over the season.
00:43:09But, yeah, they got the same.
00:43:11They would love to be playing Buffalo last game of the season.
00:43:15This one.
00:43:16Henry Young.
00:43:16Chase down Young.
00:43:17And that's the point.
00:43:18You know, the one thing that's encouraging, assuming, and it's a long way of it, right?
00:43:21We haven't even started the regular season.
00:43:23But assuming Todd Bowles and this Bucs team gets into the playoffs like the Bucs probably will do.
00:43:29But the fact that they've played the Lions and the Eagles head-to-head very well,
00:43:34those are teams you expect to see in the postseason.
00:43:36That's encouraging.
00:43:37And I think another shot at Washington and Jaden Daniels.
00:43:41That was kind of a shocker that they got bumped out by them last year.
00:43:44I think Green Bay is a special.
00:43:46Yeah, he's good.
00:43:47WCF is amazing still.
00:43:53Score junior.
00:43:54And the clock continues to run.
00:43:58Let's mention you got Bryce Young going back to the Bucs division in the South.
00:44:02You talked about Atlanta and the quarterback change.
00:44:05You got Bryce Young, Canales, the former Bucs OC, who's got his second year there.
00:44:09But a new head coach in New Orleans and a new quarterback there as well.
00:44:13They got to decide on a quarterback in New Orleans.
00:44:15I mean, I think a lot of prognosticators are not giving them much of a chance.
00:44:19I mean, they got to decide, you know, who's going to be under center for them
00:44:22with Derek Carr retiring, you know, suddenly in the offseason.
00:44:27You got a rookie and a guy that's been there for a year trying to do that.
00:44:30And Carolina, I mean, they're just not as talented as they probably want to be.
00:44:35But it'll be interesting to see if Bryce Young has a better year this year.
00:44:38Because we know that he struggled this year, too.
00:44:40That's defense started by Frank Ward, Jr.
00:44:47He had the team high rush yards, excuse me, receiving yards in the first two preseason camps,
00:44:53working on rush yards here to lead the team tonight.
00:44:57All right.
00:44:57And just more missed tackles by this Bucs secondary.
00:45:00You know, secondary, Todd Bowles is very, very adamant that this team needs to be a better tackling football team.
00:45:07So all these guys that are on the field right now, if they're not able to show that,
00:45:11they're not going to be an option for this defense.
00:45:13So keep an eye on any of these guys and make good plays.
00:45:16And the ones that don't make these type of tackles are the ones that you probably won't be talking about
00:45:20when cut day comes down next year.
00:45:22Bills will use a timeout.
00:45:25Buffalo, 30 seconds.
00:45:27Just under six minutes to play, a first and ten for the Bills.
00:45:32Leading by ten.
00:45:43There's Cliffs brought to you by Water Street Tampa.
00:45:46Still revisiting 50 years, and everybody remembers this one.
00:45:49The 10-21 Super Bowl, Brady to Gronkowski.
00:45:53They managed that COVID year probably as good as any team in football, and it's a big reason that they won.
00:46:01And obviously, that man right there was a big part of it, too.
00:46:05And, you know, you got 2002 Super Bowl.
00:46:08You got a 2020 Super Bowl.
00:46:10I was expecting them to win in 2022.
00:46:11There's twos and zeros.
00:46:12Maybe 2025 in this, the 50-year anniversary of the franchise.
00:46:19And, yeah, that defense so good against Mahomes in Kansas City in that Super Bowl that Brady managed the team.
00:46:25Hey, News Channel 8, your base team for preseason coverage on TV, of course, for the Bucs.
00:46:32General Manager Mark Higgins.
00:46:33Director of Programming Mark Dimopoulos.
00:46:35News Director Dave Celebrity.
00:46:37I think he was here earlier.
00:46:37Director of Engineering, James Ellett, Director of Sales, Kelly Lastrow, and Chief Marketing Strategist, Paul Spengola.
00:46:46Thanks for all your help.
00:46:47For those that enjoy Buccaneer football, their affiliates, and News Channel 8.
00:46:52Thank you for the end zone at the fingertips.
00:46:57We shall try to get it to Kane.
00:46:58Yeah, it's always great working with this group, Chris.
00:47:03They've done a great job.
00:47:04We've talked about happy birthday to Ty down in the truck.
00:47:08But great hard talk as well.
00:47:10You know, our pictures and our operations director, Arturo Delcarus.
00:47:14Val Pinchbeck in the booth.
00:47:16And the best booth man ever.
00:47:18Thanks for getting me cookies all preseason long, Val.
00:47:20Even when we don't do the commercial, we eat the cookies.
00:47:23I'm going to let you behind the veil here.
00:47:25What Val has given me this year that I haven't had in so long, but it keeps me energized, is an orange phantom.
00:47:33I didn't know that was your drink of choice.
00:47:35It wasn't until he brought it in here.
00:47:37Okay, sounds good.
00:47:38We'll celebrate after the game.
00:47:40Bushell, open at the 10.
00:47:42Slip in the tackle.
00:47:44Wilkerson, inside the 10.
00:47:46And under five minutes to play.
00:47:48Yeah, Rick Golioso, James Petralka.
00:47:51Tampa residents who traveled on the road all around the regular NFL season with stats and research.
00:47:57Appreciate their...
00:47:59Can I call them what they are?
00:48:01The Sunshine Boys?
00:48:02They won't be offended.
00:48:03They're definitely not.
00:48:04Hey, all that information that you get, Chris, I know it comes from Rick Golioso, who also helps me out at the South Park Championship.
00:48:10Yeah.
00:48:11He's part of that former years ago, right?
00:48:13The Buccaneers media representative worked in that department.
00:48:20Thanks for a cheapity, Tyler Bass.
00:48:22Five of 26 yards for the field goal.
00:48:26And he missed it.
00:48:27His first miss tonight.
00:48:29It stays a 10-point lead.
00:48:31Tonight's drive of the game brought to you by Lazy Days.
00:48:39Visit Lazy Days RV today, your RV authority.
00:48:43This was the Tez Johnson and Josh Williams show up and down the field.
00:48:46And, of course, punctuated by this acrobatic catch by Tez in the very acrobatic celebration.
00:48:56Stuck the landing.
00:48:57Yes, he did.
00:48:58Lazy Days RV, I've rented a couple of those, driven across up the coast in their RVs over the years.
00:49:10From the 20, Bay Flag incomplete.
00:49:17Our player of the game brought to you by Farron Farrah.
00:49:21Tampa's accident attorneys make it a fair fight.
00:49:24Eight targets, eight receptions, 58 yards, and a touchdown.
00:49:27That's pretty good showing for the rookie.
00:49:30And some of those catches were acrobatic.
00:49:33Some of those catches were dynamic.
00:49:35He makes people miss in space.
00:49:37He's an exciting player.
00:49:39We're going to have a good time watching this kid this year.
00:49:41He deserves a player of the game recognition.
00:49:43Like Rashad White last year, you dump it off the backfield.
00:49:46He makes something happen.
00:49:47This guy could do that from the receiver spot with much more speed.
00:49:50Pass is complete, and fighting to get near the first down is Tanner Talley.
00:49:56Reserve tight end.
00:49:59When we talk about drives, the difference in these two teams right now is the net yardage and not being able to keep drives alive.
00:50:06So, see if the Bucs can get a drive going here and see if we can tighten the score a little bit before the end of this football game.
00:50:12They had to come back against the Steelers in their second preseason game.
00:50:17Just short of the first down.
00:50:19Pass is complete.
00:50:25Again, it's Tanner Talley.
00:50:27And good enough for the first down.
00:50:37Down and distance brought to you by AdventHealth, the exclusive hospital of the Tampa Bay Bucs.
00:50:42Bazelak goes back to Talley.
00:50:45Couldn't shake loose at the 38-yard line.
00:50:47Well, Bazelak's, again, showing some of that efficiency that we saw last week.
00:50:52And one thing that impressed me last week is in that joint, he didn't take any of the practice reps last week.
00:50:58And just came into the game against Pittsburgh and executed so, so well.
00:51:02And don't sleep on this guy.
00:51:03I know that he's probably not in a conversation, but the guy has something to him.
00:51:08He makes a great throw to the sideline that Cam Johnson really started to showcase himself here in the second half.
00:51:14Showing some speed, and that's what he held on to.
00:51:16I mean, that was drop on a dime by Bazelak.
00:51:19And that was one of the weaknesses in his game, if you ask me.
00:51:22But look at the timing on this throw.
00:51:23Going to his second read.
00:51:25He knows that this post or this corner route is open on the backside,
00:51:28and his receiver, Tez Johnson, is running away from the defender.
00:51:31Great execution there.
00:51:3330-yard gain, and this time he goes across the middle.
00:51:36Garrett Green, trying to make this team, and on the fringe, as much as receivers.
00:51:45Good enough for the first down, spotted it at the 22.
00:51:50And I like this.
00:51:51Josh Bizarre play-calling at this stage of the game when they need points.
00:51:58He's like, low throw and incomplete.
00:52:01It was interesting what Baker said about wanting to have his coordinator down there.
00:52:07It's fascinating to get into quarterback and coordinator's head,
00:52:10because the way that they have to interact.
00:52:12I mean, obviously you can get on the headset and talk from up in the booth and down,
00:52:16but just having that eye-to-eye contact,
00:52:18and you know that you've got to get a drive going,
00:52:20and you've got an important play.
00:52:21I think that's important, especially for a guy like Baker,
00:52:24because Baker's such an emotional leader.
00:52:26I think having your coordinator right in front of you is probably a benefit for him.
00:52:30It feels different, somebody looking you in the eye and talking to you on the sideline
00:52:33versus a voice in your head when you know they're upstairs,
00:52:37and there are physical, emotional things that connect or disconnect.
00:52:42Pass is complete.
00:52:43That's close.
00:52:45He's like a pass.
00:52:46He's in the first down.
00:52:47Let's see if he got it.
00:52:48And the official is spotting it right at the 12, so it's first down box.
00:52:56Nice tight spiral there, Devin Cole.
00:52:59Easy to catch those type of balls.
00:53:01I mean, talk about quarterbacks and, you know, what makes them good.
00:53:03Don't want to catch a ball, man.
00:53:08Throwing darts all over him.
00:53:10Picking spots.
00:53:11Completing passes.
00:53:13Bazelak for the end zone.
00:53:15And off the fingertips.
00:53:17And Kendall Johnson.
00:53:18Bazelak gets a full sound down in the end zone.
00:53:23Burned it on the coverage.
00:53:27Another good throw, though, by Bazelak.
00:53:30I mean, this is just out of his reach.
00:53:33In a really tight window.
00:53:34I'm not sure if he got his foot down.
00:53:35He got that.
00:53:36Baz.
00:53:369 of 14.
00:53:3795 yards in this game so far.
00:53:40He's got a chance to get his points on the board.
00:53:42He can't.
00:53:42He's signed as an undrafted free agent from Bowling Green.
00:53:50Second and ten.
00:53:53Underneath that scarlet green.
00:53:56That's inside the five.
00:53:57We have a pass to Luka Green.
00:54:00Three.
00:54:03Third and three.
00:54:04Operation here in the fourth minute.
00:54:06It's not quite hurry up.
00:54:07You're just trying to get plays running on time without calling plays.
00:54:12Really good job.
00:54:13There'll be a touchdown, but that should be.
00:54:15That depends on the mark.
00:54:17He was knocked down right away.
00:54:18It is a first down.
00:54:22First and goal.
00:54:22Bucs at the two-minute warning.
00:54:24Trailing by ten.
00:54:26They have all three timeouts.
00:54:28But close.
00:54:35If you missed any of the game, you can see it all.
00:54:37Tomorrow, watch Bucs replay.
00:54:39Tomorrow morning, 10 a.m. on the CW Tampa Bay.
00:54:43No touchdowns in the second half from either team.
00:54:46Grisard has moved his offense behind Baislach.
00:54:52Down to the two.
00:54:54Playing right at the back.
00:54:56Let's hear the twelfth play of this drive.
00:54:59Baislach.
00:55:00Clothesline.
00:55:01In complete.
00:55:05Coverage tight.
00:55:06Arno and right.
00:55:10This was close.
00:55:11He was just out of his reach here.
00:55:12It was a really good throw.
00:55:13It just looks like he didn't run through that thing.
00:55:17Didn't catch it.
00:55:18But look, two minutes left.
00:55:20You got three timeouts.
00:55:21Score touchdown here.
00:55:22Maybe get an opportunity to work on the onside kick operation.
00:55:25These are important moments in the football game.
00:55:27For all players.
00:55:29What I like about that is a quick player.
00:55:31You didn't lose a lot of time.
00:55:32You knew you had a couple more downs here.
00:55:38Baislach.
00:55:40End zone.
00:55:41The coverage pretty good of his corner tower.
00:55:47He got a couple of big catches to get him down there.
00:55:53Oh, his hands.
00:55:57All right, what do you call here?
00:55:58You're Josh Bazaar.
00:56:00Obviously, you've thrown the ball first and second down.
00:56:02Definitely going forward on fourth.
00:56:04By the way, that was Garnett Collins Jr.
00:56:08who they just picked up and added.
00:56:10He was on the cover to get a pretty good job.
00:56:12Talos splits out to the top of his three.
00:56:14Now he's coming back in.
00:56:16On the third and goal.
00:56:19Greg Green is out there.
00:56:22Passes four.
00:56:24A foul.
00:56:25Whoa, a good.
00:56:27Green comes down with him.
00:56:28And that's a touchdown, Marks.
00:56:30I know he wears the same number, but it's like those of all...
00:56:39It's exactly like Brian Greasy did when he was here.
00:56:42Oh, what a...
00:56:43You're going to see Garrett Green.
00:56:45Watch him get his feet down here.
00:56:47Great catch, obviously.
00:56:47But watch this.
00:56:49Bam!
00:56:49That is beautiful.
00:56:50This is a college quarterback, ladies and gentlemen.
00:56:53comes out and makes a fantastic two-feet-down catch.
00:56:59Wow, that was awesome.
00:57:00Actually, Mountaineer got up high for that one.
00:57:02They're going to go for a two-point conversion.
00:57:05They're just confirming this was...
00:57:07They want the win.
00:57:08Ruled a touchdown.
00:57:09They want the win.
00:57:10I think four teams should try for two-point conversions
00:57:14if they really worked on it.
00:57:17Stressed it enough.
00:57:17Stressed it ahead.
00:57:24Owen Wright.
00:57:25Not going to get there.
00:57:31The wings don't try the outside kick
00:57:33and go for the touchdown.
00:57:35If you're Tampa Hall, three timeouts.
00:57:38I don't know if I...
00:57:38If I care for the run call here,
00:57:42I would have liked the way Baislec was throwing the ball
00:57:44to get him down there.
00:57:45I could be a fan of second guess for a moment, right?
00:57:48You're the analyst.
00:57:48You have to tell me why they ran that.
00:57:50I'm already with my little football there.
00:57:54Again, you want to get a look at some of these big guys.
00:57:56I mean, they've been obviously throwing the ball
00:57:59on every down there.
00:58:00And all of a sudden, you turn around and hand the ball off.
00:58:01And maybe it just wasn't in their mind to get that push.
00:58:04Good stop by the Buffalo defense there.
00:58:06But we get the onside kick opportunity here.
00:58:08Thomas McGahee, the special teams coordinator.
00:58:10We haven't seen one from the Bucs in the preseason.
00:58:12Obviously, they go through that operation in practice
00:58:15all preseason long.
00:58:17And the new rule this year,
00:58:19you can do the onside kick at any point in the game
00:58:22as long as you're trailing.
00:58:24And hello to all the Bucs fans joining us here
00:58:26on News Channel 8.
00:58:27The coverage of the Bucs in Tampa, Orlando,
00:58:29West Palm, Fort Myers, Panama City, Pensacola.
00:58:32And as we say that,
00:58:34they're not going for an onside kick.
00:58:35It certainly doesn't look that way.
00:58:37There's a minute and 47 on the side.
00:58:38You can stop.
00:58:38Yeah, with three timeouts.
00:58:39Yeah, three timeouts.
00:58:40Minute 47.
00:58:41It's a different strategy to kick it maybe high
00:58:43and try to pin him.
00:58:45You're going to hit that landing zone.
00:58:47You don't want to get it into the end zone
00:58:50where it comes out to the 35.
00:58:52But see what they do right up.
00:58:53It's a nice spot.
00:58:54Right at the one-yard line.
00:58:56Chennault.
00:58:57He's dangerous.
00:58:59All the way up to the 39-yard line.
00:59:02With 1.41 to go.
00:59:04Buffalo, two timeouts.
00:59:05Bucs have all three.
00:59:12Appreciate the affiliates for the Buccaneers
00:59:16preseason network
00:59:19staying throughout all three games.
00:59:22Important when you have competing programming.
00:59:26But we want to thank the viewers, too.
00:59:28In a preseason, the ratings around the league
00:59:29have been good, but especially those affiliates,
00:59:32I know the ratings have been outstanding
00:59:34for the Bucs this year.
00:59:35The excitement of what they did last year,
00:59:37what they've done the last few years,
00:59:39some of the additions they've made.
00:59:41Seen those young players tonight.
00:59:43A lot to be optimistic about.
00:59:46Young has downed a lot more.
00:59:50That's not to stop that you want to put it,
00:59:53but they come out in a loaded set
00:59:55with tight formation
00:59:57and then run a little boot out of it.
00:59:58I got to tell you, man,
01:00:00Bouchelle's been very good.
01:00:01He's going to win.
