00:00Prime Video, home of Thursday night football, welcomes you to the following presentation
00:09of the National Football League.
00:15To win games, you have to win the game, not lose the game.
00:20I hold all responsibility for all things.
00:22I fell into a burning ring of fire.
00:27Nice move.
00:27Jiggy and jaggy, tough running.
00:30And the planes went higher.
00:32Jack Gallant, can you say MVP?
00:35What a throw by two and tackle by Lola, wow.
00:38The Bills, Stunny, comeback win.
00:40By we kill, we kill once again.
00:43Jalen Waddles, ah, the Penguin is back in the end zone.
00:46What a catch and run by James Cook.
00:49Hey, Danny Marino is back, what a great call by Kelly.
00:56The Dolphins have completed the greatest season in NFL history.
00:59Girls, you're an enemy that's right here, right there.
01:02And the flames went higher.
01:05And it burns, burns, burns.
01:08Takeoff moments away.
01:09First to the field, we go to Kelly Hart on Kelly.
01:12Well, Al, it has been a tough start to the season in Miami.
01:15A blowout loss in Indianapolis prompted a players-only meeting week one.
01:20Then Sunday, miscommunication on their final drive derailed a comeback attempt against the Patriots.
01:26The Dolphins' 0-2 start has whipped up plenty of outside noise, but the team is adamant it has not penetrated their facility.
01:33As Mike McDaniel told us, you worry about people fracturing in times of noise regardless of time of season.
01:38But this team, he says, has done the exact opposite.
01:42So, we'll see if that shows up on the field tonight, Al.
01:45So, McDaniel right now, first 0-2 starts in four years there.
01:49Meanwhile, Sean McDermott done a great job.
01:52Nine seasons here.
01:54That record, 88-45.
01:56Taking the team to the playoffs, as we keep saying, and, of course, the kryptonite spin, Kansas City and Patrick Mahomes.
02:04And they turn it around this year.
02:06Will this be the year?
02:07Allen, MVP, off to a great start this year.
02:10Had two rushing touchdowns to go with two passing touchdowns in that crazy opener against the Baltimore Ravens.
02:18So, Buffalo will kick off.
02:21They won the toss.
02:22They have deferred.
02:23Matt Prater to kick off.
02:25Malik Washington had a 74-yard punt return touchdown against New England four days ago.
02:34Ready to receive on a perfect night.
02:37Temperature in the upper 60s.
02:40A light breeze.
02:41And off we go from the goal line.
02:43Dee Estridge will run it back to the outside.
02:47He goes with some room.
02:49And the Dolphins get just what they need to start things.
02:52A run back all the way to the 50-yard line.
02:55Dorian Strong runs him out.
02:58So, Tonga Miloa, in his sixth season in the league, takes over after that 54-yard run back.
03:05Against the Bills, 1-8.
03:089 TDs, 10 picks.
03:11They have had his number.
03:12Now, the challenge tonight.
03:16He's got four new offensive linemen.
03:18The center, really the only experienced man up front on the road.
03:22They've got to communicate and play together.
03:24Of course, his blind side, since he's a lefty, is the right side.
03:32They start with play action.
03:34Throws that's caught.
03:36Reaching up for it, making the grab.
03:38That time is Washington.
03:40Darren Johnson runs him out of bounds.
03:43It'll be second down and five after a gain of five.
03:46Miami is obviously built with speed.
03:51Buffalo wants to do everything in their power as a defensive unit to keep this speed in front of them,
03:56not give these fleet-footed receivers and backs a lot of space.
04:00They've got to leverage the football and rally.
04:03And two years ago, when they led the league in offense, they were a track meet.
04:07Second and five.
04:07A run on the inside, stuffed.
04:16A-chan.
04:18Slacked at the line of scrimmage.
04:20It'll be third down.
04:21So the Bills have their own problems in terms of defensive injuries.
04:25Ed Oliver and Matt Milano are both out tonight.
04:29Two key starters.
04:30Yeah, two starters out.
04:32Walker, who just made a heck of a play.
04:33The rookie out of Kentucky in the middle there.
04:35T.J. Sanders, Daquan Jones.
04:38And Dorian Williams, him from Matt Milano.
04:40He led the Bills defense last year in tackles with Milano out.
04:44So that's a lot of experience.
04:48Out of the gun on a third down and four.
04:54To the outside.
04:57And as the catch made, it is right at the marker.
05:00Tyree Kill holds it in.
05:02Covered by Benford.
05:05And that's the first down.
05:06What a battle into the boundary here.
05:08Benford is a physical corner.
05:09Wants to get his hands on the receiver.
05:11He's going up against the quickest receiver in the NFL.
05:14What a pressed look there.
05:16Tyree Kill with a little slippery move to the inside.
05:18Works to the outside.
05:19And then the fingertip catch and two feet down for the first down.
05:23Great look at it right there.
05:25Oh.
05:26So they get the long run back.
05:28Pick up a first down.
05:30On their first possession.
05:33A-Chan in the backfield.
05:35Tua fakes.
05:36Then it goes A-Chan.
05:38And he goes down the sideline for a first down.
05:43Julian Hill, tight end.
05:44Makes the block there.
05:46Kind of flash a screen to the right.
05:49Watch Tua's action.
05:50Watch the defense react to it.
05:52Moving in gold.
05:53A little fake.
05:54Now you get the defense to move.
05:56To hesitate.
05:57And that's all you want to do.
05:58Get him to hesitate just a bit.
06:01And you got the escort screen on the other side there.
06:03With a tight end.
06:04Julian Hill out in front.
06:08From the 21.
06:12Ali Gordon now in the backfield with Tua.
06:16Give it to him.
06:17Over the left side.
06:19So the Dolphins have been playing from behind.
06:22A kill in the opener against Indianapolis.
06:25We're never in the game.
06:26And last week had a fight from behind.
06:28They were down 12-0 early against New England.
06:31Yeah, now that's such a great point.
06:32Because they haven't really been able to run the football.
06:35I mean, this is a team that really prides itself on running that outside zone.
06:40Running the football to set up the rhythmic play-action.
06:44In-breaking play-action pass game.
06:46And just haven't been able to do that tonight.
06:48Off to a great start here on this opening drive.
06:50Gordon, a rookie out of Oklahoma State.
06:52Stays in and running back.
06:54Second and seven.
06:55Play fake.
06:56Pass is caught.
06:57Looking for some room.
06:59Washington.
07:00Gets inside the ten.
07:01And another first down.
07:02But a flag is down.
07:04Our first at the game.
07:04Allen Eck is the referee tonight.
07:07And Miami coming back.
07:12Ineligible player downfield.
07:13Number 71 offense.
07:15Five-yard penalty.
07:16Replay.
07:17Second down.
07:17We're talking about the right side of the line.
07:19That's Keon Smith.
07:21That's part of this offensive line up to this point.
07:24They've been having pretty good symmetry playing together.
07:27It's been a great plan.
07:28Mike McDaniel and his staff put together.
07:30Get a look at him right here.
07:32He just gets downfield.
07:34Yeah, he's about four or five yards downfield.
07:37So, it's the first setback here on this opening drive.
07:41Would have been a first and goal.
07:42Instead, it's a second and 12.
07:49To the outside.
07:51A-10.
07:52There's some room.
07:53And he's close to a first down.
07:56It's a second and 12.
07:58They're going to spot it about a yard shy.
07:59Third and one up coming.
08:01Obviously, this Miami offense.
08:03It's not just Tyree Kill and Jalen Waddell.
08:07A-chan, as he shows you right there.
08:09He's 5'9", about 191 pounds.
08:12But he brings speed and also just a great instinctive back.
08:16That time there was penetration.
08:18He was able to feel it and then bounce to the outside.
08:21And able to accelerate upfield.
08:23Give him a shot here on third and short.
08:27Gordon is the running back.
08:29Seventh play of the opening drive.
08:32The rookie takes it.
08:34And Gordon to the four-yard line.
08:36First down and goal for Miami.
08:38I'll tell you what.
08:40We came into this game wondering how this offensive line on a short week
08:43in a hostile environment with really four new starters up front would respond.
08:48Look at the movement on third and short.
08:50Just pushing people around.
08:52And with not having Ed Oliver in the interior,
08:55they're able to control the line of scrimmage
08:57and get the big fella to football there and got some positive yards.
09:00I got the answer.
09:02I got the answer.
09:04Gordon staying in on a first and goal.
09:08Takes it again but slips before he gets to the line of scrimmage.
09:17Second down and goal.
09:18Five minutes into the game.
09:21The Dolphins are looking like a team that's sick about reading how bad they are.
09:24That's what we said in the open.
09:26You know, forget about the X's and O's.
09:27You show up with a chip on your shoulder and come out swinging.
09:30See where things stand at the end of 60 minutes.
09:32Mike McDaniel has his team with the right mindset.
09:35He did tell us two things.
09:36We've got to win the turnover margin.
09:39And when we get in the red area, we cannot kick field goals.
09:42We've got to get touchdowns if we want to beat Josh Allen and the Bills here.
09:46Come up in a tight formation.
09:53To it, backing, throwing to the outside, trying to fight his way to the goal line is Malik Washington.
10:01He's popped that time by Terrell Bernard to save a touchdown at the one-yard line.
10:07Maybe just short of the one, maybe one-and-a-half third down and goal.
10:11He's looking at Tyreek Hill here on the outside, trying to work into the middle, take him away.
10:16So he just checks it down.
10:17And again, there's some space there.
10:19Came pretty close.
10:20Good job of filling up there by Taylor Rapp for safety.
10:22Keep him out of the end zone.
10:24Third and goal.
10:25This is the 10th play of Miami's opening drive.
10:29And Ollie Gordon, the rookie, the big back, 225 behind the set, behind the quarterback.
10:34Ball spotted right at the two.
10:38Again, Gordon plunging forward.
10:41He's in.
10:42So the Miami Dolphins, not given very much of a chance in this game, say, hold on every, for, you know, just a second anyway.
10:51No doubt about it.
10:52Six and a half into the game.
10:53Now, you know, I think you and I are thinking and seeing the same thing.
10:56This is a team that kind of showed up in a bad mood.
10:58And this is what they really haven't had, is a power back.
11:02This rookie, Ollie Gordon, they challenged him to lose some weight, get motivated, be a guy that can be their short yardage and red zone back.
11:09And he definitely showed up tonight.
11:13A couple times he got his hands on the football.
11:15So, Tewin does a great job there leading this team.
11:18The big kickoff return to kind of set the tone.
11:21And they take advantage of it.
11:22Puts seven points up on the board.
11:23A 54-yard run back.
11:26Rowley Patterson boots it through.
11:28Gordon in his third game has his first career touchdown.
11:31And the Dolphins make a 7-0 lead in Buffalo.
11:35And we'll open up next year.
11:42That stadium, about $2.1 billion.
11:46The stadium we're in right now, right there, built in 1973, for $22 million.
11:51That's fascinating.
11:52Which is about $148 million in today's dollars.
11:56But still, it's 95 times more to build that one on this one.
11:59No pressure.
12:01It better just be state-of-the-art, fantastic.
12:05I can't wait to see what that will be next year.
12:08Home of the Bills next year.
12:09Meanwhile, running it back.
12:10The goal line is Codrington.
12:14Brandon Codrington stopped at about the 31-yard line.
12:18And here comes Allen for the first time tonight.
12:22Great night on opening night.
12:25Won his last 11 home starts.
12:2767 touchdown runs.
12:28Second most all-time to Cam Newton.
12:31And, of course, won the MVP last year.
12:34While you were looking at Josh Allen coming back,
12:36there was a penalty after the whistle.
12:41I think it's going to be on the Bills.
12:44Retaliating.
12:45They're already moving back.
12:53After the play was over, personal foul, unnecessary roughness.
12:56Number 85, the receiving team.
12:58Wow.
12:58Watch this.
12:59The penalty will be enforced half the distance to the goal.
13:01First down, Buffalo.
13:03Yeah, Jackson Hawes.
13:04Yeah, Hawes, he could have gone 85 and then 57 there at the end as well.
13:09But that's, you know, unlike what Miami did with the big return,
13:13Josh Allen will start at his own 15-yard line.
13:20Deshaun McDermott, his pedigree is defense.
13:24Offensive coordinator is Joe Brady.
13:26He calls the plays.
13:27And here we go with the Bills' first play from scrimmage.
13:31A little pump fake and then a pass down the sideline.
13:33And incomplete.
13:35Almost one-handed by Coleman, but there's a flag on this play.
13:39Jack Jones with the coverage.
13:42And the Bills are moving up ahead.
13:43Well, this is a big part of tonight's game, the cornerback position of the Dolphins.
13:56Passing the players, number 23, the defense.
13:58The ball will be placed.
14:00The slot of foul.
14:01Automatic first foul.
14:01You got four corners out tonight for Miami.
14:07So Jack Jones, who signed with the Dolphins in late July, is starting on one side.
14:13Rasool Douglas, a former Bill, just signed a few weeks ago, late August, on the other side at corner.
14:1920-yard penalty, first down at the 35-yard line.
14:27Allen hangs in.
14:29Pass is caught up at the 38 and tackled at the 40-yard line.
14:32That time is James Cook from the backfield.
14:34Allen already established as one of the best running backs in the NFL.
14:39Had a great Sunday down at MetLife against the Jets.
14:43Yeah, 21 for 132 yards and a couple scores.
14:47I really think he's one of the most overshadowed superstars in the NFL.
14:53And I think it's because of Josh Allen.
14:54You know, he does such a good job in so many different areas for this offense.
14:59Second and five.
14:59They go with three tight ends.
15:02It's a formation they've been using very often of late.
15:05Here's Cook.
15:06Breaks it into Dauphin territory.
15:10Finally take it down at the 44-yard line.
15:13Gets through the line of scrimmage.
15:15He's off to the races again.
15:16Gain a 16.
15:17Now, you just talked about the three tight ends.
15:20Here's two of them on the left.
15:21What I love about this Bill's offense is the back side.
15:24They finish blocks because they know the vision and the patience of James Cook.
15:28The ball is liable to bounce anywhere.
15:30He bounces it off and presses and then bounces to the back side.
15:34Makes one guy miss.
15:35And with his speed, you better hold on to your hat because he can take it all the way.
15:41Come up with three tight again.
15:44Seven minutes to go in the quarter.
15:46Cook again.
15:48Cook.
15:49He can exploit the smallest of holes and takes that one to the 33-yard line.
15:55So back-to-back good runs for him.
15:57That one for 11.
15:59They get into that 13 personnel.
16:01It's pretty obvious.
16:01This year, 12 of 13 snaps.
16:03They run the football.
16:04They let you know we're going to run the ball.
16:07And can you stand up to them?
16:09This is what we saw last week in their game where they just decided to get physical
16:12and run the football against the Jets.
16:15Josh Allen didn't have to do much.
16:16They got into that 13 personnel and just beat them up up front.
16:20They ran for 224 yards last Sunday.
16:24Callers number again.
16:26This time to the 30-yard line.
16:28Short game.
16:29We go to Kaylee.
16:30You'll see Josh Allen wearing a visor on his helmet tonight.
16:33It's for protection after he got popped in the face on Sunday.
16:36His nose was bleeding profusely even though he only missed two plays.
16:41He practiced with it all this week.
16:42And he told us he wore a visor through college.
16:45Then admitted he just did it for swag back then.
16:47And when he got to the league, he said he didn't want to be the rookie trying to look cool.
16:51But tonight he needs it.
16:52Ward and Laramie at the University of Wyoming.
16:55First-round pick.
16:57Back in 18.
16:58Now Ray Davis is in the backfield spelling Cook.
17:02Second down and seven.
17:04Palmer comes in motion to a wing.
17:08And the pass is caught.
17:10And that's a first down as it's taken down by Golden Kincaid.
17:13So they've got those three tight ends.
17:15Kincaid, Knox, and Hawes is playing very well this year.
17:19Tough.
17:19Great job of just showing patience here.
17:22They're mixing up their personnel groupings with different looks with the tight ends.
17:26Also, you're seeing Josh Allen not trying to force the ball downfield.
17:30They've been able to run the ball.
17:31Miami's sitting back in coverage and able to check it.
17:34Just take what the defense has given him.
17:36Throwing that ball underneath for first downs.
17:40Now Ty Johnson comes in at running back.
17:43And Reggie Gilliam comes in at fullback.
17:47He alerted, alerted, alerted.
17:48Got to go, got to go, got to go.
17:49Blake Lockett, two.
17:53Johnson.
17:55He gets to the 20s.
17:57So not only do they have the three tight ends, they have a fullback on top of it.
18:00Well, Joe Brady, the offensive coordinator, he mixes up a lot of looks.
18:06You know, I really feel that he has a chance.
18:09You know how Ben Johnson became that offensive coordinator in the NFL.
18:13I think if the Bills stay healthy and Josh Allen has another MVP type of season,
18:18a lot of people are going to start to look at Joe Brady.
18:20Some guys have that look and feel and sound of a head coach.
18:22Joe Brady is that kind of guy, so he's going to do everything he can tonight to mix up the looks.
18:29Yep, not an empty look.
18:30Yeah, they went from tight to five receivers in this pattern.
18:36Allen throws to the sideline.
18:38Open, reaching for it, making the grab it into the end zone.
18:42Walton Kincaid for the touchdown.
18:43Well, that didn't take long.
18:5585 yards, seven plays.
18:58And now watch how he brings Kincaid back.
19:02Kincaid route, he thinks he's got to keep going upfield.
19:05Instead, the ball brings him back.
19:07Actually, right there, he just well out in front of him to be able to make the catch.
19:11Shorehanded.
19:12It missed him last year with that knee injury.
19:16Looks like he's back feeling much, much better to go along with Knox and Halls with those three tight ends.
19:22Matt Prater picked the game-winning field goal against Baller, opening night, picked him up.
19:32At 41 years old, he boots it through for the extra point, and we are tied 7-7.
19:38In the upcoming Hallmark movie, Holiday Touchdown, the Bills' love story, and some of the Buffalo Bulls will have a cameo, or even more, in that one.
19:56So each team scoring on its first drive.
20:01Malik Washington, half past the 30, strapped at the 33.
20:06Well, what an amazing job here in the opening drive by the Miami Dolphins.
20:12They came out and really leaned on that offensive line, which we had some questions about, but it was a good mix.
20:20Some quick throws, and able to run the football.
20:25Throwing the return, illegal block in the back, number three of the receiving team.
20:2910-yard penalty, he's followed by the foul.
20:31First down, Miami.
20:32This is what we were talking about.
20:36You know, he came in, it's a short week.
20:38How's Tua going to handle this?
20:39And more importantly, how's the offensive line?
20:41Look at the amount of time that he has there.
20:43He's able to check that down to A-chan, and he's able to have an escort out in front.
20:47Good job up front.
20:48Look at them sustaining blocks.
20:49We've not seen this in these first two weeks.
20:51In fact, they've had slow starts against the Colts and the Patriots.
20:5415 yards against the Colts, 18 against the Patriots.
20:58In the first drive, they had 52 yards and a touchdown.
21:01So, see if they can follow that great drive up here.
21:05Backed up, obviously, after that penalty.
21:06Tua in the pistol.
21:12Quick throw.
21:14Incomplete.
21:15Goes to Washington's leg and using him quite a lot at the outset tonight.
21:19Last week as well, second-year guy out of Virginia.
21:24Expect the Bills to kind of mix some things up.
21:26They were unable to pressure and affect Tua and get him out of his rhythm.
21:31He had plenty of time back there.
21:32Their hope tonight was to be able to play coverage and make Tua hold the ball
21:40and allow their edge pressure of Russo and Bosa to be able to get home
21:44when he drops back to throw.
21:46And plug up the middle, make him throw to the outside.
21:50Running into traffic.
21:52Moving ahead for five is A-chan.
21:55In his third year out of Texas A&M.
22:00Third down and five now.
22:01For the Dolphins.
22:03It's going to come down to the protection for Tua.
22:07And the Bills are going to bring pressure.
22:09They're going to rely on their edge to get there.
22:12See how the Dolphins, in this big third down here,
22:15they can give Tua enough time because I think they have confidence
22:18that their receivers can win.
22:21He looks across that line.
22:23He sees Joey Bosa.
22:24He's off to a great start this year.
22:25Now the Bills packed the line.
22:29Third and five.
22:31But Russ score.
22:32Tua has trouble holding on to it and can only pick up a couple.
22:37Cam Lewis stops in there and it's fourth down.
22:41They walked everybody up.
22:43We talked about it.
22:43Are they going to blitz?
22:44Are they going to sit back?
22:45They showed it.
22:46And I think it may have affected Tua in his eyes.
22:48He's starting to peek and maybe starting to look at Bernard.
22:51Are they going to come?
22:52Are they dropping?
22:53Remember, that's a shotgun snap.
22:54He's looking at the ball.
22:55Also trying to get a feel of whether or not that pressure is coming or not.
22:58See his eyes kind of starting to look up.
23:01Affected him getting able to secure the football.
23:04So he's had to eat it.
23:05Great call.
23:06Exactly.
23:07Here's Bailey's tick.
23:09It's a good one.
23:10Holded in at the 23-yard line.
23:12Codrington.
23:14And he'll bring that back to the 37-yard line with 224.
23:20After a 56-yard punt and a 14-yard return.
23:24Buffalo on this Thursday night.
23:277-7.
23:317-7.
23:33At Highmark Stadium as they'll close down this place.
23:37Over 400 games have been played here since 1973.
23:42Bills came into the American Football League as an original franchise back in 1960.
23:48Played at old Royal Memorial Stadium.
23:54Start this drive.
23:56Hand off here.
23:57Another big hole and another nice run for James Cook.
24:01Fourth year out of Georgia.
24:02Picks up a total here of nine yards, second and one.
24:06I mean, that's old school football.
24:08Getting a hat on a hat on a counterplay.
24:09Good job with Gilliam.
24:10The fullback that gets overlooked because we talk so much about the three tight ends.
24:14But when you have these many pieces at your disposal as an offensive coordinator,
24:21you've got a quarterback that can handle it.
24:22Whether you go heavy or you spread them out.
24:24You do anything in between.
24:25I mean, puts so much on a defense to deal with, especially when you've got a short week to try to prep.
24:31Ty Jensen ended running back.
24:34And this time, on an end around, Elijah Moore picks up the first down and a few more as he gets taken down at the bench.
24:45That's a bean there of 11 yards with a minute and a half to go in the quarter.
24:49Jet sweep here to get him out on the edge from left to right.
24:52Watch the two tight ends on our right.
24:54Watch how quickly they're able to get outside, outflank this defense.
24:58And, again, you look at the totality of this offense and how they attack.
25:02It's stretching you outside with plays like this.
25:04It's the interior run with James Cook.
25:06And then it's the play-action pass game.
25:08And all the different looks with emotions and the different personnel groupies.
25:12Cook back in.
25:14Take the hand.
25:15Fired over the middle.
25:16Into a lot of traffic.
25:17But it duns it in there perfectly to Kincaid for a first down.
25:21And now that's what we're saying.
25:23You just dealt with a jet sweep.
25:24And you're a linebacker.
25:25Your eyes are in this backfield.
25:27And you're worried about are they running the football with James Cook?
25:30If they are, I've got to get downhill and make a play.
25:33Nope, they're not.
25:34Great.
25:35Now it's play-action.
25:36They're going to go behind me.
25:38So, right now the Bills just one step ahead of this Miami Dolphins defense.
25:44Final minute of the quarter.
25:49First down from the 31-yard line.
25:52Palmer moving.
25:54Little toss back here to Ty Johnson.
25:57And the ex-jet and Lyon.
26:00Picks up about four.
26:01Second down and six.
26:02Tackle there by Ashton Davis.
26:05Could be the final play of the quarter.
26:07I think the tough thing for Miami is Anthony Weaver just wants to see this defense play as 11.
26:13You know, if you look at the tape these first two weeks,
26:15they just, they look like a team that has not played inspired football.
26:18Tonight, that's what they're trying to do.
26:20Play with Samantha, play together.
26:22Can they get off a play in the waning seconds?
26:24No, they cannot.
26:25That's the end of the quarter.
26:27Played 15 minutes at Highmark.
26:307-7.
26:31On Thursday night, football in Buffalo.
26:34And tonight's aerial coverage presented by Royal Caribbean.
26:44Sayonara to Highmark after this season.
26:48As we come back, Al Michaels, Kirk Herbstreit, Kaylee Hart time.
26:537-7, second down and six for Buffalo starting the second quarter.
26:58And this time Cook keeps those legs driving.
27:01He turns a one-yard gain into about a three-yard gain.
27:05Yeah, he is a tough runner.
27:07We've talked a lot about over the years Josh Allen and how he's changed his throwing mechanics from his rookie year.
27:13You can see the shoulders where he's really more all-armed to now working with Chris Hess.
27:18He's an expert in biomechanics.
27:20And now it's more about creating force and power from the ground up, sequencing with the hips.
27:25And really the hand and the arm is just kind of a GPS.
27:29That's why his consistency and his accuracy is so much better over these last three or four years.
27:34It changed for him in 2020.
27:36That was the game changer, and he points to Chris Hess for helping him do that.
27:40Third and two is Cook.
27:43Picks up the first.
27:45It's almost similar to a golf swing in so many ways.
27:48I mean, and Allen has taken up golf and loves it, and he's pretty good.
27:52Yeah, I know he is.
27:53In fact, when we talked with him this week, we were talking to him a lot about his mechanics,
27:58and he is addicted to it.
28:01And he is, as you mentioned, a big golfer.
28:02I know you and him are often trying to play together in the summer,
28:06and he talked about, you know, it's exactly anything that's rotational,
28:10whether you're swinging a bat, a pitcher, a quarterback, a golfer.
28:13Everybody is now, and that's the triangle these last four or five years.
28:17He's looking for a much better game than he's going to, trust me.
28:20Yeah, you bring the fun to the party.
28:22You're right, that's about all.
28:25From the 18-yard line.
28:27Allen to the end zone and dropped.
28:32And that time it's Kincaid who couldn't hold on, covered by Ashton Davis,
28:37almost had his second TD of the night.
28:39That's the matchups.
28:40We keep talking about these tight ends.
28:42They want to get the tight ends matched up against a safety where he's got a big advantage
28:46with the sides, and Kincaid really has wide receiver skills.
28:50Pretty good job at Davis here, not giving up on the play.
28:53Look at the accuracy, but Davis got that left hand in there at the end
28:57to be able to knock that football away.
29:00Really good effort there by the safety.
29:02Saved the score.
29:03Second down and ten now.
29:05That's Allen's first in completion.
29:07He's four out of five for 46 yards.
29:11Gets it away quickly.
29:13Caught.
29:13Fighting to the ten, looking for the first down.
29:16Comes up a little short.
29:17Khalil Shakir.
29:19Top receiver last year.
29:21And sets up a third down and two.
29:24They say everybody eats.
29:27That's been the motto of this offense since Steph Diggs moved on.
29:31They really don't have that superstar receiver.
29:34They work as a group.
29:36They're not working to get one guy the ball.
29:39They let the offense and the defense dictate who's going to be open,
29:43and they find the open man, and that's who he's going to throw the ball to.
29:46Similar to what we saw with the Packers last week.
29:49Who's number one?
29:50Who knows?
29:51Got eight or nine guys who can catch it.
29:53Quick pass here.
29:54Caught.
29:54That's a first down.
29:55That's Keon Coleman who may wind up as, you know,
29:59in effect the number one before the season is done.
30:02This is what they want to see from him.
30:03We saw this in the fourth quarter against Baltimore.
30:05Look at the strength there.
30:07That's what you want to see.
30:08I mean, he's a big body at 6'4", 215 pounds.
30:11A quick throw just to get it out there with soft corner coverage.
30:15And a great job of being able to use the hands and the strength
30:19to be able to secure that football to give him this first and goal.
30:22And Allen doesn't like what he sees on the other side,
30:36at least for the moment, and will take a time out.
30:42You know, some teams are good, and they're not particularly interesting.
30:47The Buffalo Bulls have really become a great team to watch.
30:50They are.
30:51I mean, I think you bring up Green Bay.
30:54It does kind of remind you as far as the way they use different pieces.
30:56You don't have that one guy.
30:58You kind of spread it out.
30:59Boy, what a challenge to get ready for this offense
31:02and all the different ways that they can attack you,
31:05all the different looks that they give you.
31:08And you've got a Miami defense that had a short week.
31:10They've struggled in their first two games,
31:12and now they've got to go against Josh Allen,
31:13where if they get a stop tonight against this offense,
31:17it's a good job.
31:19Just trying to get a stop to slow down this offense.
31:22Absolutely.
31:23I mean, Allen, you know, I mean, that's entertainment.
31:26You watch the Buffalo Bills.
31:27Yeah.
31:29They're a draw.
31:32And, of course, everybody here,
31:34they're just thinking about one thing.
31:36Can we get to February?
31:38First and goal.
31:39It's Alex Anderson.
31:40When they go that jumbo look,
31:42they're going heavy to the left here.
31:48Off the fake.
31:49Rolling.
31:50He can run if he has to.
31:51Instead, he flips it for the touchdown.
31:54He hits Jackson Hawes.
31:57Their number three tight end.
32:01Rolling against the green.
32:02Could he run?
32:04Saw that it was better off to try to flip it,
32:07which he does with the touchdown.
32:08He gets outside there,
32:10and you know what this guy can do with his feet
32:12and take it off and run.
32:13There's Hawes, by the way, in motion.
32:15He'll go back and then work his way back the other way.
32:17And if 17 gets out there on the edge,
32:19you better look out.
32:20You better get ready.
32:21And then he just does Brett Favre.
32:22A little flick there
32:23and a nice little touchdown pass there.
32:25The awareness and the understanding of coverage.
32:28He baited that defense
32:30to be able to get that flick there for the touchdown.
32:32Who is Jackson Hawes?
32:34A pro football focus.
32:36Run by my good buddy, Mr. Collinsworth.
32:39Has him ranked as the number one tight end
32:41through two weeks.
32:42Time for the Thursday Spotlight
32:48presented by Spectrum Internet.
32:50Mike McDaniel and Sean McDermott
32:51are alums of two esteemed colleges
32:53with rich history.
32:55Yale and William & Mary
32:56have nine Declaration of Independence
32:58signees between them.
33:00They have combined for 22 Supreme Court justices.
33:04And how about this?
33:05Nine U.S. presidents.
33:07So that means graduates of these two schools
33:10are more likely to have accomplished
33:11any of those incredible feats
33:13than to be an NFL head coach, guys.
33:16Wow.
33:17I love that.
33:19That's incredible.
33:21AT Supreme Court justices.
33:22They got everything covered.
33:24Completely.
33:26Miami to receive right now.
33:31Matt Crater.
33:34Silent Tyler Bass got hurt.
33:37Pick up to be run back
33:38in the five-yard line by Estridge.
33:40Oh.
33:42Well, after that Kaley report
33:44in the booth right now,
33:47Ohio State.
33:48Ding-dong school,
33:49Arizona State,
33:50and beyond.
33:52So we were talking to McDaniel
33:53the other day
33:54who's kind of quirky
33:55and he was socratic
33:56and we know that.
33:57So he was talking about,
33:58or I asked him about,
33:59his playing career at Yale.
34:01What was the highlight?
34:03This is...
34:04He said,
34:04on the sideline,
34:06interrupting.
34:07That was his highlight.
34:10Perfect.
34:11Could not have scripted
34:12that any better.
34:14185-pound wide receiver
34:15for the Bulldogs.
34:17Now in his fourth year
34:18as the head coach here,
34:19Ali Gordon is the running back
34:21as they start this drive
34:22through the 26-yard line.
34:24To a rolling.
34:26Looking,
34:26throwing along the sideline,
34:28trying to get at the hill
34:29incomplete
34:29in front of the Dolphins' bench
34:31that time.
34:31Chased by Joey Bosa
34:33who, after nine years
34:34with the Chargers,
34:35comes here.
34:35for his tenth season.
34:38Remember,
34:38they started so well,
34:39had such good rhythm
34:40with that opening drive.
34:43See how Tua
34:43in this offense
34:44can respond.
34:45Remember,
34:46Tua himself
34:47didn't have
34:47a great second drive.
34:49Dropped that third down snap.
34:52He took his eyes
34:52off the football.
34:54You're going to have
34:55a hard time stopping
34:56Josh Allen.
34:57Every possession
34:58counts for Tua
34:59in this Dolphins' offense.
35:03Two of four out of six
35:05for 29.
35:07Short drop,
35:07quick flip.
35:09HN
35:10and gets it left
35:11after a gain of one.
35:14Terraria is white
35:16and Terrell Bernard
35:18are both there.
35:19the difference
35:20in that opening drive
35:22and what you've seen
35:23here in the last couple
35:24is they're cranking up
35:26the pressure
35:27a little bit more.
35:28They're bringing five.
35:29They're trying to affect him,
35:30not let him
35:31have time
35:32like he did
35:33on that opening drive.
35:35Especially when they get him
35:35to third down.
35:36This is where they like
35:37to get creative.
35:42Third and nine.
35:45Proud and full throw.
35:50Tua in the pocket.
35:52Flushed.
35:53Eyes downfield.
35:54Throws along the sideline
35:56and that is incomplete.
35:57HN the intended receiver.
36:03Karen Johnson
36:03breaks it up
36:04fourth down.
36:05Tire focus this week
36:06for the Bills
36:07is we've got to get
36:08Tua off his spot.
36:09He's not as effective
36:10on the move.
36:11He just doesn't have
36:12that X factor
36:13like Josh Allen
36:14and some of the others.
36:15Not his strength
36:16and this time
36:17he gives his receiver
36:18a shot
36:18but good job
36:19of flushing him
36:20and good tight coverage
36:21downfield.
36:21Bailey's second punt
36:24his first
36:25was 56
36:26it's almost blocked
36:27gets it away
36:28fair catch
36:28it's called for
36:29and made
36:30as Codrigan
36:31goes to the ground
36:32at the 28 yard line.
36:3310-44
36:34left in the first half.
36:37Buffalo up by
36:38seven.
36:43Been very one-sided
36:45of late this rivalry
36:46Buffalo against Miami.
36:49Bills have won
36:4913 in the last 14
36:51they outscored
36:52the Dolphins
36:52by 198 points.
36:55Allen has been
36:55sensational
36:5640 touchdown passes
36:58to go with
36:59five rushing TVs
37:01so it's been
37:02all bubbly.
37:03You go back
37:04though to the 1970s
37:05when Miami won
37:06there's a little
37:07wink and a nod.
37:09That's called
37:10being in the zone
37:10and feeling good
37:11right now.
37:12Totally.
37:13Totally.
37:13Allen
37:14at the 27 yard line
37:16to start this drive
37:17he is 7 of 8
37:19for 64 yards.
37:21Off the fake
37:22to the outside
37:24goes the pass
37:25and Shakir
37:27picks up about
37:27six before he is
37:28slung down
37:29in the sideline.
37:30So Kirk
37:30back in the 70s
37:31when Miami
37:32had the great teams
37:33the undefeated team
37:34won two Super Bowls
37:35they were
37:36for the decade
37:3720-0
37:39against Buffalo.
37:40Wow.
37:41Threw a bagel at them.
37:42Wow.
37:42It's called payback.
37:43Yes.
37:44It's called payback
37:45with Josh Allen
37:46and making the
37:47adjustments there
37:48as a defensive staff
37:49who's talking about
37:50trying to pressure
37:50and trying to get
37:51to rather offensive
37:52staff
37:53trying to talk about
37:54trying to help
37:55Tua and give him
37:55some time.
37:57I love how they
37:58get under center.
37:59You don't see a ton
38:00of this throughout
38:01the league.
38:01It's an 11th snap
38:02under center already.
38:04Second and four.
38:07Very balanced
38:08offense.
38:08There goes Cook
38:09breaks a tackle
38:10taken down from behind
38:12inside the 45-yard line.
38:15One and nine already.
38:16Seven carries
38:17for 74 yards
38:19from number four.
38:21This is
38:22giving Miami
38:24some of their own medicine
38:25going to our right
38:26offense's left.
38:28This is outside zone play.
38:30Good job there
38:30by Shavers
38:31the receiver
38:31that comes in
38:32to block.
38:33Great job by Halls
38:34the blocking tight end.
38:35Deion Dawkins
38:36the left tackle there
38:3773
38:37and a great field
38:39by James Cook
38:40just kind of
38:41being patient
38:42setting it up
38:43and then accelerating
38:44once he hits that crease.
38:46Now Ray Davis
38:47in it running back.
38:51Now he has time.
38:54He loses that flip again.
38:56He's in love with that
38:57for the moment.
38:58Intended there for Davis
38:59that's incomplete.
39:00Daryl Dotson
39:01covering on the play
39:02to be second down.
39:03Again
39:04that's just a quarterback
39:05that feels and sees it.
39:07You know
39:08that time he took off
39:09stepped up into the pocket
39:10as a threat to run
39:11but with his vision
39:12you just never know.
39:14You know
39:14as a defender
39:15you better stay
39:16plastered on every
39:17single receiver
39:18that's downfield.
39:19This time it's Davis
39:20to back
39:20because you might get
39:22another flip like that.
39:23Heck of a play
39:23by Dotson
39:24to keep that ball away
39:25from getting to Davis.
39:26Quick pass here.
39:37Coleman
39:37about a yard shy
39:40of the first down.
39:41Allen has started
39:429 of 11 now
39:43for 79 yards
39:44two touchdowns
39:46it's third and one.
39:47We've talked this entire
39:48first half
39:48about Joe Brady
39:49and the mixing up
39:50the different looks
39:51and getting different
39:51personnel groupings in.
39:53The reason I bring up
39:54under center
39:54is I think that's
39:56another piece
39:56to what he likes
39:57to do
39:57because you get
39:58James Cook back there
39:59basically dotting an eye
40:00running downhill
40:01and then they work
40:02so well
40:03play action
40:04kind of marrying
40:05that look
40:05with play action
40:06with Josh Allen.
40:07Yeah and he sees it
40:34before it happens
40:34they use motion
40:35as an indicator
40:36so they already know
40:37he already knows
40:38that Shaver's going
40:38to be freed out
40:39out in the flat
40:40so that's why
40:40he doesn't even
40:41finish his drop
40:42he's already trying
40:43to get the ball
40:43out there
40:44to be able to
40:45get the ball
40:45to Shaver's
40:46because he knows
40:46he's going to
40:47outflank this defense
40:48they motioned
40:49they saw the response
40:50and how the defense
40:51with the rookie
40:52Marshall goes with him
40:53and it's like
40:54a little bit of a scream
40:55a little bit of a pick
40:56to be able to get him
40:57out in space
40:58out there to the flat
40:59but again
40:59just the awareness
41:00the vision
41:01the eight years
41:02of experience
41:02he knew before
41:04he got the ball
41:04in his hands
41:05from the snap
41:05where he's going
41:05to go
41:06and did it quickly
41:06and they're working
41:07on Jason Marshall
41:08so we've got a time
41:09out here
41:10oh man
41:15just what they needed
41:16you can see
41:17the three cornerbacks
41:18already out
41:21and now you got
41:21Jason Marshall
41:23reaching for his
41:24hamstring
41:25he's out
41:26trying to find
41:27anybody to play
41:28corner right now
41:29this is a new
41:30secondary
41:31if you go back
41:31to where they were
41:32a year ago
41:33even if they had
41:35everybody in line
41:36in the lineup
41:37they'd still be
41:37breaking in a new group
41:38Allen to the outside
41:41Cook makes that catch
41:43taken down there
41:45by Ashton Davis
41:46after a short game
41:47get it two
41:48second and eight
41:49another Dolphin
41:51player down
41:52believe it or not
42:00it's another corner
42:01Jack Jones
42:02who
42:03so Jones
42:11who they picked up
42:13from Vegas
42:15after last season
42:17here's what happened
42:17unfriendly fire
42:22yeah Kincaid
42:23there on a
42:23on a crosser
42:24like a
42:25like a mesh route
42:26left shoulder
42:28got him right
42:28in the chest
42:29that means
42:32Ethan Bonner
42:33is going to come
42:33into the game
42:34second year guy
42:35free agent
42:36out of Stanford
42:37and he's been
42:38dealing with a
42:38hammy himself
42:39yeah
42:40first time
42:41he's been active
42:41this season
42:43tonight
42:43in game three
42:44and you're going
42:48against Josh Allen
42:49all these weapons
42:51with these corners
42:54Cook
42:56well
42:57breaks that first
42:59tackle
42:59got away from
43:00Jaylin Phillips
43:01and as he crossed
43:03the line
43:03we're halfway
43:04through the quarter
43:05it's going to be
43:05third down and eight
43:06as Marshall
43:07goes back to the
43:08locker room
43:09the strength
43:11of this defense
43:12is the edge
43:14of Phillips
43:15who
43:15it's great to see
43:16him back
43:16and healthy
43:17after what
43:17he dealt
43:18with in 23
43:18with the Achilles
43:19and in 24
43:21last year
43:21with a knee
43:22and on the other
43:23side Bradley
43:24Chubb who's dealt
43:24with some injuries
43:25and they're healthy
43:26they got a win
43:28on the outside
43:29for this defense
43:30especially right here
43:31a little decent
43:32news is Jack
43:32Jones
43:33was out for
43:34only one play
43:35Allen in the pocket
43:37Allen in the pressure
43:38Allen's going to go
43:39down to the 25
43:40yard line
43:41Bradley Chubb is there
43:43on cue
43:44we just talked
43:45about like
43:45if they're going
43:46to if they're
43:47going to be able
43:47to slow down
43:49Josh Allen
43:49you've got to be
43:50able to win
43:51here
43:51and here
43:52and the fact
43:55that they're
43:55getting healthier
43:56these guys
43:57is a tandem
43:58when they rush
43:58them both
