00:00From Adam Schefter, Cowboys are trading three-time All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons to
00:05the Green Bay Packers. Oh, get the hell out of here. Parsons and the Packers already have
00:10reached agreement on a four-year $188 million contract to receive $62 million in the first
00:16new year of the deal. $120 million fully guaranteed. Holy crap. I'll tell you, I don't
00:22love it from the Packers. I don't. I told you, I would not pay these singular defensive players
00:29like an NFL quarterback. I would not. I don't think they bring nearly the same kind of value
00:34to your team. Now, the cap doesn't matter, but money does. And even though they're a
00:40nonprofit, there's only so much money. And I will say, when you get to those kind of numbers,
00:45give it to me again, the contract number. It is $120 million fully guaranteed. No, $62
00:52million in the first new year of the deal. $120 million fully guaranteed. A total of $136 million
00:56guaranteed. Over how many years? Uh, stand by here. Four. Yeah, there you go. Four. And
01:04the total, the total money not guaranteed is what? For what? I'll just read it to you
01:09again. Parsons and the Packers already have reached agreement on a four-year $188 million
01:13contract. Thank you. $4188. Boy, that's a whopper. I love it. I mean, listen, it's
01:19exciting. It's exciting, but I don't believe in paying defensive players like that. I told
01:24you, I wouldn't give Myles Garrett that contract if I were the Browns. I remember the Khalil
01:29Mack contract. Was that in Chicago? It's like, they don't, you know, I remember it was Khalil
01:35Mack. Yeah. Yeah. I'm trying to think. I can't remember. Did he go from Chicago to San Diego?
01:41No, Raiders. Was that the other way? Was it Chicago to the Raiders? There was a year there
01:46where the Bears, I thought, sent two first-round picks and gave Khalil Mack like a quarterback
01:51contract. And neat, he ran around, he made some sacks and the Bears defense was great.
01:55And the Packers beat him twice a year because they had quarterbacks. And it's sort of like,
02:00okay, neat, Myles Garrett is an absolute force of nature. I got you. But they have no quarterback
02:06and no passing. So, but, so the Green Bay does. I just want to be consistent. I told you this
02:11before. I told you this before. When the Patriots were, the question was, should the Patriots get
02:17in on Micah Parsons? Should the Patriots get in on Hendrickson? Should the Patriots get
02:20in on these guys? I said, no, I'm saving my bullets for offensive players, not those defensive
02:26players. So I feel the same way about it with Green Bay. I get fun watching them. I'm excited,
02:32but it's wouldn't be my first priority. I love it for the Packers. Why? Because again,
02:37what was their pass rush like at the end of last season? Wasn't it deteriorating? Didn't
02:41they let go of the two Smiths a couple of years ago? Yes, they're gone. And they haven't
02:44been the same ever since. So they kept, they kept one and Darius was gone. So I can't remember
02:50what happened to Preston. Is he gone too now? I can't remember. I think they're both gone.
02:53And they're like, I love the idea of adding a guy like that, that look in that conference
02:57with, uh, you know, with the offense that they have in the offensive mind that they have
03:02getting an impact defensive player on the Packers. I get, so here's one thing I'll give
03:07Dallas credit for. Cause you don't see this all that often anymore. Cause teams have
03:11no balls. They're ballless. Dallas wasn't obviously wasn't eager to get them out of
03:16the conference. They, you know, most teams say, well, we're going to take it, take a guy
03:20like that. I'm going to trade him to the other conference. A hundred percent. Dallas did not
03:23do that. They traded him to green Bay. So good for Dallas. But I think it's a, no, I can't
03:29predict. I understand the money. I can't predict whether or not he's going to play. In other words,
03:33is he going to give it as all or is he going to cash out? But the impact player on that
03:38roster, it could win green Bay, a super bowl. Uh, Jim, what did the Packers give
03:42up? Did you say it? I'm sorry. Did I miss it? That part? I haven't seen. No, I
03:45haven't seen that either. I was looking for that too. I I'm with Maz. I think this
03:48is great. You know, and they're just looking last year at the sack leaders for
03:51green Bay. It was Rashawn Gary who had seven and a half Parsons had 12. He
03:56averages like we drafted this 13 a year defensive end from Iowa. I want to say
04:01Van Ness. Who's just a guy. Just so average. They needed a guy like this. This
04:06dude's 26. He's a game wrecker. You saw the Eagles one, just won a super bowl
04:09with defense. I, and I get it. Like it's probably an overpay, but this is the
04:13going rate now. If I were you, I would love this. It's fun. And the fan boy is
04:17like, we, yeah, I mean, but I'm, I don't believe in paying defensive players
04:21like that. And I, I know the cap is crap and all that. Yes, I know. I know. I
04:26know. I know. It's just, uh, I'm just telling you them saying I, unlike you, I
04:32say the same thing, whether he's on my team or not on my team, the, the, the
04:35contract worries me and the whole philosophy of paying a guy like that. I
04:39don't believe in, but it's pretty bad-ass. What I do like is the Packers
04:44have, you know, ever since Reggie white, they've been good for one of these
04:47every so often where they just, they're, they are a huge draft and develop
04:52team. They never really splurged in free agency at all, but every once in a
04:57while they come off the top rope and it started with Reggie white. And why am I
05:00blanking on the name of the defensive end who had all those great years in
05:03Carolina peppers? Oh, Julius peppers, Julius peppers. Oh, that's right. They
05:07did get him. I mean, they had Julius pepper and they should have gone to the
05:09Superbowl. One of his years, that was a year they couldn't feel the onside
05:13kick in Seattle. That was 2014. They got Charles Woodson that one year, Charles
05:17Woodson, Julius peppers, Reggie white, Micah Parsons. Every once in a while, they
05:24just come over the top and pull one of these and Woodson's on that team. They won
05:28in 2010. That's the one they won. That's the year they won. He got hurt in the
05:31first quarter of that Superbowl, but he was huge for that team. Packers in
05:35Dallas on Sunday night football week four, by the way, September 28th. That's
05:39pretty cool. Here's the other thing I was looking at this cause I was curious
05:42green Bay last year. I think they went on four against the Vikings and the
05:45lions and you have two, you know, you have a good offensive coach in
05:50Minnesota. Obviously Detroit has been a prolific offense in the league. You got to
05:54get to the quarterback in that division. Now I love it for green Bay. Love it.
05:59So this beat right. Oh, that division is awesome. The division's tremendous. Awesome.
06:03Beat writer for the athletic that covers the Packers match. Schneiderman just said,
06:07this is vague, but source the Packers are trading at least two first rounders to
06:10the Cowboys for Parsons. Wow. That is like all in. Wow. They went 0-4 against those two
06:17teams and they even lost to the Bears once. Wow. They sucked in the division last year.
06:22Huh? Yes. 1-5? Yes. Oh, that blows. Yes. Thank you, man. You lost to the
06:27freaking Bears? We lost to the Bears. Wow. Your team sucks. I wouldn't say
06:32that. I don't know. Did we win 10 or 11 games? I'm joking. You went 11-6 and 1-5 in
06:39the division? Yeah. What does that tell you? Oh. Well, so like the thing I like is
06:44that they're doing something about it. Yes, definitely. This is a good move. You know,
06:49they don't just sit there and say. Strapping it on. Go and getting them. I love it.
06:53Micah Parsons to the Packers. Love it. And I agree with you. The thing I like from
06:57the Dallas side is they didn't ship them to the AFC because we don't want them in
07:02our hair. Yeah, right. Like that is, I hate, that is, I think one of the most
07:06misguided things. To take less because you don't like the PR quotient is such
07:12chicken bleep. Such weak ass management. If you don't believe in the player, which
07:20you don't because you don't want to pay him, then send him to who gives you the
07:24best. Don't worry about where he goes or how it looks. Worry about getting the best
07:28return. One of my favorite things that Belichick ever did was trading Bledsoe to
07:32the Bills. Yeah, they're going to give us, yeah, you take this guy. I'm not worried
07:36about him. We'll beat him twice a year, even though you didn't, you know, the first
07:40year he beat you or the second, uh, you know, three, anyway, the lawyer
07:44Maloy again, anyway. Uh, so there's that should the Patriots have done this
07:49two first round picks and $40 million a year, whatever that is. No, no. I mean,
07:54if this, we're talking about like an offensive player, if this was, you know,
07:57say Jamar Chase, hypothetically speaking, then yes, but no, not for Micah
08:02Parsons, not for the Patriots. I mean, look, I, I, I don't love where, where they
08:06are, but they, they can't give up the draft, especially because on
08:10defense, they're okay. Again, as Murray said, if it's an offensive player, I
08:14would think about it, but I'm going to predict right now he wins defensive
08:18player of the year. Maz, uh, circling back to the, how we started the show,
08:21if we may. So you had the Cowboys of one of the four teams that sucked last
08:24year. Yes. Now the playoffs. Okay. Now out. Cause they had 54 sacks as a team
08:31last year, a 52 sacks. That was third in the NFL. So that number is definitely
08:34going to come down. So if I were a Cowboys fan, I'd be pissed. You should be. I'd be
08:39pissed all cause what? Cause Jerry Jones does. So you draft a guy, he hits, he's
08:45a freaking stud. And where did they get him? They got him at like number 10.
08:48I thought it was seven. So something, you're right. Whatever it was, it was
08:52somewhere in that area. Cause I remember thinking he could get to the Patriots.
08:55That was the year they drafted Mac Jones, I think. So, uh, the, you're the Cowboys.
09:01You hit on the pick. He turns into a defensive player of the year candidate. And then
09:06the Dallas Cowboys won't pay him when there were $10 billion. Just being a Dallas sports
09:13fan in general, you've now lost this guy, Luka Doncic. And what do you get back? Brian
09:17Schottenheimer is the coach of this team and Cooper flag. Yeah. Parsons. Parsons was 12th.
09:22Yeah. Cause I remember that there was a chance he was going to slide to the Patriots. He, cause
09:28I ended up taking Jones at like what? 15 or something. Yes, sir. So he, he didn't go till later.
09:33That was a freaking grand slam for a draft pick. They nailed it. And they're letting
09:39them walk. Well, I say walk, but they're trading them. Uh, that's a, that's, that's weak
09:43for that franchise. That is weak. Yeah. So now John McClain, a long time NFL reporter
09:48said that the, uh, the Packers are trading. It is two first round picks. It's just so
09:52that the other guy said, at least it's two first round picks. That's what's, that's
09:55what's going back. Okay. Well, that's a big one. Uh, that's a real blockbuster.
09:59Yeah, that is cool. It's pretty cool. And that those two, too, they're kind of
10:03rivals, you know, it's not just NFC, NFC. They've butted heads in the past. They
10:08have kind of a long history. Well, if you watched, I mentioned on the off air
10:11show, this new documentary of this eight part series of the Cowboys, they get
10:14into the 95 NFC title game when we almost went in there and beat them. Yes. They
10:17get into that. It was a great game. But, uh, Jerry Jones talks about this most
10:21recent one where the Packers went in there when they ended up going to the
10:23NFC title game against the Niners as the most devastating loss in franchise
10:26history. Like it shows him crying in the box. They got their ass kicked in that
10:30game. Pissed all over him. Yeah. It's amazing. Oh yeah. That was, they put like
10:3448 up on him. Yeah. Tremendous.
