On Friday's edition of Felger and Mazz, the guys once again dove into the Dallas Cowboys blockbuster trade where they sent Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers. While reacting to Jerry Jones' comments about the deal, Felger makes the point that Jerry Jones does not care about winning football games.

00:00Saying this was a move to get them better in the postseason.
00:02This is one of the great phonies in all of pro sports.
00:06How dare you?
00:07Absolute giant fraud.
00:10A guy that does not care about winning at a high level.
00:13That I firmly believe.
00:15His victories for a lot of these owners.
00:17The measuring contest is the bottom line, the profit margin.
00:21And that is absolutely what gets Jerry off.
00:23He does not get off at winning football games at a high level.
00:26Does not.
00:26He gets off on the attention and making boatloads of money.
00:30And to present this as doing it because it's going to make them better in the postseason.
00:35Is one of the great lies in pro sports.
00:39That's my opening take on this.
00:41Do you guys have a thought before I go on?
00:42Because I have more.
00:42Yeah, look, I've mentioned it a couple of times this week.
00:44The Off Air Show and even here for a minute.
00:46You watch this Cowboys documentary on Netflix.
00:48And it's a reminder.
00:49You cannot argue that Jerry Jones is maybe the most important owner in the history of the league.
00:53When it comes to marketing the league.
00:55Making it as profitable as possible.
00:57And the fact it's all up in our faces.
00:59Is, you know, 365 days a year.
01:01That said, the reason this team has been a disaster for the last three decades.
01:05Is that he remains the GM.
01:07He's got to be out as the general manager of this team.
01:09Or they're just going to keep spinning their wheels.
01:11Like, this thing is.
01:12Jimmy, I'm just going to jump in.
01:14Whether Jerry Jones was the GM or just the owner.
01:16This is an ownership decision.
01:18Even if he had a GM underneath him.
01:20This is a call that the owner makes.
01:21All owners would make this.
01:23Go ahead.
01:23Well, the phony part of this is for him to say, this makes us better.
01:27It doesn't make them better.
01:28No.
01:28Like, they're not going to be able to rush the passer this year at all.
01:32Like, so that's a crock.
01:33If he sat there yesterday, though, and said, look, I realize we're not going to be that good.
01:37And so I'm kicking the can down the road.
01:39And we're getting some future picks.
01:40And it's kind of part of a rebuild.
01:42I would respect that.
01:43Because that's more truth.
01:45But what he said yesterday is a crock.
01:47It's a lie.
01:48It's a lie.
01:49And you know what?
01:49He's got to go.
01:51He's got to go.
01:52He's not running the team in the best interest of, you know, what I would say, the Dallas Cowboys.
01:57He's running the team in the best interest of Jerry Jones.
01:59This was personal.
02:01He got him in a spit match with Micah Parsons over the contract.
02:05And he couldn't look past it and get the deal done.
02:08It's all about him.
02:09It's always been about him.
02:10He's got to go.
02:12Dallas isn't going to win.
02:13And, I mean, you know, a lot of people felt that ever since Jimmy Johnson left.
02:17But I'll say, now that he's at the stage of life he's at, they're not going to win with him calling the shots.
02:23Not going to happen.
02:24They've got to get rid of him.
02:25He kept talking about, and he's not wrong, the Cowboys get run on.
02:29And they got run on in these postseason games when they lost to the Packers a couple years ago.
02:33The Packers ran it right down there, Schmenzer, all game long.
02:37And when you get behind in games and the other team's going to run the ball
02:42to control the ball and run clock, you have to be able to stop the run.
02:46Parsons is less effective there.
02:48All that is true.
02:50But, Maz, let me ask you something.
02:51If Dallas and Jerry Jones really wanted to stop the run and be the best they could be,
02:56what would they do?
02:58I don't know.
02:58Go get a big, fat nose tackle and spit him in.
03:00And put him next to Parsons.
03:02Exactly right.
03:03Yeah.
03:03Yeah.
03:04Stick him in the middle of the line.
03:05Yep, that's what I was going to say.
03:06Why do you have to lose Micah Parsons to gain Kenny Clark or someone like him?
03:11And Clark's a nice player.
03:13But if you want to stop the run, you get a bunch of big guys.
03:18Get them elsewhere.
03:20Why did you have to lose Micah Parsons to the premier defensive players in football
03:23to stop the run?
03:25That's stupid and it's a lie.
03:27It's a lie.
03:28Totally.
03:29100%.
03:29And, again, they're the most valuable franchise in the league.
03:32They are valued at $13 billion.
03:36I looked this up last night on the way home.
03:37He paid $140 million for the team in 1989.
03:41$13 billion.
03:42And he wouldn't pay this guy and now he's lying as to why he traded him.
03:45So, you know, here's the truth.
03:48It was money and Jerry's a great businessman.
03:51And Jerry Jones absolutely won this trade.
03:55Absolutely won it.
03:57And I'll tell you why.
03:58I mean, it's a no-brainer.
04:00I mean, Micah Parsons has been on their team for however long.
04:03They still haven't won a playoff game in how long.
04:06He hasn't really affected their bottom line.
04:09He's a brilliant player.
04:11But they still go to the playoffs and lose if they even go to the playoffs.
04:17Micah Parsons' Packers contract was $136 million guaranteed.
04:22$120 million guaranteed at signing.
04:24$62 million in the first year.
04:26Okay?
04:27You know what Kenny Clark makes in real money this year?
04:30$1 million.
04:32$1 million.
04:33He makes $1.3 million with a base salary.
04:37And then there's a roster bonus.
04:38I don't know if it's been paid yet or not.
04:40That would be one extra million dollars.
04:41So, it's somewhere between $1.3 million and $2.3 million.
04:45Jerry Jones just saved himself $60 million.
04:50That's right.
04:51All he cares about.
04:52Kenny Clark's salary does jump next year.
04:56He's got about a $9 million base salary and $11 million roster bonus.
05:00So, he's going to make over $20 million next year as a 31-year-old heavyset interior defensive lineman.
05:06What do you think the Cowboys are going to do with him at that point?
05:08Cut.
05:09Bye.
05:10See you.
05:11Bye-bye.
05:12He's not going to pick up that money.
05:14A cheap old prick.
05:15He's our cheapest owner.
05:17He's, you know, you can, you know, pile on the Crafts or the Browns or whoever you want.
05:22Jerry's the worst.
05:23But, you know, he carries himself as this, you know, swashbuckling Texas cowboy like you think he's like a big spending idiot.
05:30Don't forget Swordsman.
05:32He's just the opposite.
05:34All he cares about, Murray, is chicks making money and making headlines.
05:41That's right.
05:41That's all he cares about.
05:42What's wrong with that?
05:43He doesn't care about football game.
05:44He doesn't care about winning.
05:45And this, you know, the crap that he was spinning yesterday, holy crap.
05:51Number, how about number two?
05:54Go ahead, Kev.
05:55Number two.
05:56In our judgment, this gives us a better chance to be a better team than we have been the last few, several years.
06:07Since Micah's been here.
06:09Not any negative on Micah.
06:11But we're trying to get better.
06:13We're trying to stop the run and stay in the hunt.
06:17Why couldn't you keep Micah Parsons and add run-stuffing players and do both?
06:20You could.
06:20Of course you could.
06:21Of course you could.
06:22Yeah.
06:23I love also how he says we determined or we decided.
06:27No, no.
06:27There was no we here.
06:29This was I.
06:30I decided, however he phrased that.
06:33It was him.
06:34Okay.
06:34So, he won the trade, I think, though, if you're just talking about a value standpoint.
06:37Two first-round picks.
06:41Kenny Clark.
06:41You save all that money.
06:44And I think that, as a Packer fan, I told you yesterday, I feel the same way.
06:48I don't love it.
06:50I don't love it.
06:51And it worries me a little bit.
06:54Maz.
06:54Those teams that have that singular, high-paid pass rusher.
06:59Aren't you often frustrated by them?
07:03And it, like, doesn't the whole thing sort of revolve around them?
07:06And it's like, you go into a game and he's your guy and the other team double-teams him
07:12and he doesn't get any sacks.
07:14And you come out of the game and you're saying, well, where was Micah Parsons?
07:16Where was Joey Bosa?
07:17Where was T.J. Watt?
07:19Where was Miles Garrett in this game?
07:24Well, the opponent took him out.
07:25You can take anybody out if you want to take him out.
07:27And then everybody goes to the guy after the game.
07:30Where were you?
07:30You had no sacks.
07:31You had no pressures.
07:32Where were you?
07:33And then he pipes off.
07:34And now it all sort of like is this thing about this one guy, the one pass rusher.
07:39I don't know.
07:41And now he's gotten totally paid.
07:43And the Packers don't really have much else that you have to account for.
07:48So teams are going to load up on him.
07:50He's going to get stymied.
07:51He's going to get frustrated.
07:53He's going to pipe off.
07:54And it's like, and never mind, you know, this is a hamstring strain waiting to happen.
08:00He's been lounging around for a month.
08:02Is he going to play to open the season?
08:04I hope not.
08:04I wouldn't.
08:05I wouldn't play in week one.
08:06I'd give him a couple weeks.
08:08But even still, he's going to come back.
08:10He's going to want to try and prove himself.
08:11Show that he's worth the money.
08:13He's going to strain a hamstring coming around the edge.
08:15And now he's out for eight weeks.
08:16He's going to come back.
08:17He's not going to be the same guy.
08:18Oh, all that money you spent on Micah Parsons.
08:20Where's Micah Parsons?
08:21And it all revolves around the one guy, and then he's going to do a podcast because he's
08:26super vocal, right?
08:27I got word that everyone in Dallas dislikes him.
08:30No, he's not a well-liked guy because he just runs his mouth constantly.
08:34So now he starts running his mouth.
08:36And it's like, well, you know, we don't have anyone on the other side.
08:38And da-da-da.
08:39Like, can't you just see all that happening?
08:42Of course.
08:43Look, it can always go bad.
08:44So I just want to clarify something, though.
08:46When you say pass rusher, you mean pure pass rusher, not defensive lineman.
08:51Right.
08:52So it's like a pure pass rusher guy.
08:54Okay.
08:54Because I was just going to give you Aaron Donald or Jalen Carter or, like, those guys
09:00are instrumental pieces of championship teams.
09:03Guys who don't do other things, though.
09:06Yeah, but they're tackles.
09:07They're more like defensive tackles.
09:09They're disruptive.
09:10And this is what Parsons is.
09:12And I get it.
09:12This is just your nature.
09:13You have to look at the negative and things.
09:15But this is your team.
09:15And how about this for symmetry?
09:16I think you should feel good about this.
09:18When the Packers got Reggie White, 27 years old.
09:21When the Packers went and got Charles Woodson for Aaron Rodgers, 27 years old.
09:25Micah Parsons, 26 going on 27.
09:28Symmetry there, Mike.
09:28You should be excited about this.
09:30I don't hate it, but I'm telling you, I do have a lot of reservations about it.
09:34And I do feel this way about that singular defensive player.
09:37And you know I said it two weeks ago.
09:39You're talking about the pure pass rusher.
09:42Yes.
09:42If you want to take out Micah Parsons, you can take out Micah Parsons.
09:48And teams will.
09:50He's also playing on grass instead of AstroTurf.
09:53Does that take away some of his explosiveness?
09:56That has me worried.
09:58I'm excited.
09:59I'll watch.
10:00But listen.
10:02People think that I just do it because I'm not a Patriots fan.
10:06I talk about the Patriots the way I do because I'm not a Patriot.
10:08It's not true.
10:09Believe me, if the Packers got McLaurin, I'd do the Green Bay Cheese Fest.
10:17I'd whip it out.
10:18I'd whip out the curd cheese right in your face.
10:22I'd be really excited.
10:24The defensive player, I told you.
10:27I just have trepidation.
10:31If I was you, what I'd be nervous about is that dead-eyed quarterback of yours throwing
10:35off his back foot all the time.
10:37That's what would have me concerned.
10:38This is one thing that I do.
10:40I'm actually kind of looking forward to, Murray.
10:41I think it's a plus.
10:43I hope Micah Parsons wakes up Jordan Love.
10:46Not that you know or care, but just 10 seconds here.
10:49Jordan Love is super stoic.
10:51And a lot of people wonder, where's the pulse?
10:55Where's the fire?
10:55Where's the competitiveness?
10:56The outward shows of competitiveness.
10:59He doesn't talk on the sidelines.
11:00He doesn't get to the sidelines and go up and down the bench talking to the offensive
11:03lineman or getting in the face of his receiver.
11:05He's just not that guy.
11:06He goes there and sort of just like, I don't know what the hell he's doing.
11:10And Micah Parsons is kind of an a-hole.
11:13And I hope Micah Parsons goes in there and wakes up Jordan Love.
11:17That would be a nice little side benefit.
11:19I will say, just quickly, because you piqued my interest.
11:23He's only played 16 games in his career on grass.
11:2716.
11:27He's got 12 and a half sacks.
11:29So his sack rate on grass is not terribly different than turf, but it's a little lower.
11:34I could have helped him with that.
11:37How's that?
11:38On grass.
11:39Ah, I got it.
11:40Good one, Murray.
11:41Yeah, we got to get it.
11:42We got to get him some Murray.
11:44What's the one that's more of an upper?
11:45Ah, that's a Teva.
11:46Yeah, we got to get him some Teva.
11:49But this phony Jerry Jones, you got to be kidding me.
11:51Spent 45 minutes last night.
11:53Tell him how they're better now because they can stop the run.
11:55You could have stopped the run, you big phony, and still kept Micah Parsons.
