00:00Teams being set around the NFL, which includes the Minnesota Vikings.
00:03In Adam Schefter tweet yesterday, Joe, homecoming.
00:06Panthers and Vikings are finalizing a trade for Adam Thielen to return to Minnesota.
00:10The trade details.
00:11The Vikings get Thielen a conditional 2026 seventh-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick.
00:17And the Panthers get some pick swaps back there.
00:19Thielen starred for the Vikings 2013 to 2022.
00:22Now he returns, and he's excited.
00:24By the way, took a little pay cut to come back home as well, Joe.
00:28Yeah, he did.
00:29And again, it's a win situation for Minnesota that, again, you're not just rolling in and
00:36getting a grip on Kevin O'Connell's offense.
00:39It's one of the more intricate offenses, and everyone will tell you.
00:43So there is a learning curve, but there won't be with Thielen because he's plug and play.
00:48I mean, the guy's already been in it, understands it, knows the guys, really good friends with
00:53Jefferson.
00:54So this is, it's a win-win.
00:56For the Panthers, though, that leaves them with all, you know, rookie and second-year
01:01guys.
01:02Xavier Leggett, Jalen Coker in their second year.
01:05They're going to be your go-to.
01:07McMillan is the rookie.
01:09There you go.
01:10A lot of young receivers now for Carolina and Bryce Young.
01:14Yep, there you go.
01:14It's the way it is.
01:15And it looks like that's going to help that core.
01:17And also, J.J.
01:17McCarthy, young quarterback, trying to find his way.
01:19Get a veteran guy that can route you up out there.
01:21Certainly makes some sense.
01:22You know, he's not going to be routing anybody up.
01:24That is Rasheed Rice, six-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy
01:29here.
01:29He's going to come back in week number seven.
01:31I actually like, if I'm a player, Joe, I like this better.
01:34Don't bring me in for three to four games.
01:36Suspend me for six and have me come back.
01:37Just let me know when my season is going to start.
01:39And the team itself, the NFL did that.
01:41He will be out multiple weeks to start the season.
01:43And then ramp up his activities.
01:45And away you go after week number seven.
01:48Yeah, listen.
01:49I mean, he is lucky.
01:51Let's be realistic here.
01:53This could have been a track.
01:55I mean, just a total tragedy here, which we would never see Rasheed Rice on a football
02:00field again.
02:01Now, he's lucky to have another shot at this.
02:04All right.
02:05He's not going to get another one.
02:06So hopefully he grows up and, you know, and doesn't have to deal with this kind of thing
02:11anymore.
02:12But the reality is the Chiefs have been planning for this.
02:17They knew something was coming.
02:19And in all likelihood, yeah, they're okay.
02:22They can make it through the first six games without him.
02:25They would much rather have him in November anyway, as opposed to September.
02:30So I think the Chiefs are in good position here.
02:34You know what else is a good position here to play?
02:36It's apparently safety in the NFL.
02:37Kyle Hamilton, $100 million extension, which includes $82 million guaranteed.
02:43You know what the previous high for that was?
02:45$45 million.
02:46My goodness, he broke the bank.
02:48And I guess you can say deservedly so here, Joe.
02:51Somewhere Ronnie Lott's like, man, did I play in the wrong era?
02:55My goodness, $100 million for a safety.
02:59But you know what?
03:00Hall of Fame potential safety.
03:02Somebody you build a defense around.
03:05Ed Reed style with Baltimore.
03:07Love the signing.
03:09Lock him up.
03:09This team is loaded for bear.
03:12No contract worries there in Baltimore.
03:14They got people signed.
03:15They got MVP performances on the horizon, possibly from their all-world quarterback.
03:20And do they finally get over the hump and at least get to a Super Bowl this year?
03:24Today's a Thursday, people, on the early line.
03:26Get excited.
03:27Absolutely.
03:28It's Labor Day weekend coming up.
03:29We got a full slate of college football tonight, slate on Friday, a big-time slate on Saturday,
03:33which includes maybe the biggest game of the season getting played in week number one.
03:36You love to see that between Ohio State and also Texas.
03:39But if I look one week into the future, Joe, if we skip over this weekend and just get the next week,
03:44NFL football for real on Thursday night with the Philadelphia Eagles taking on the Dallas Cowboys.
03:49NFC East supremacy could be on the line.
03:51NFC supremacy could be on the line.
03:53You know the Philadelphia Eagles are going to bring that second Super Bowl trophy out there,
03:56parade it around, drop that banner, and the season will officially kick off.
04:00We don't know if Micah Parsons will be there.
04:02We hope he's in the building.
04:03We hope he's playing because it's good for the better of the league.
04:05But as an Eagles fan, we'd love Micah Parsons sitting up in a box with Jerry Jones,
04:09hanging out, eating some chips and dip and having a couple beverages,
04:12watching the Philadelphia Eagles pummel the Dallas Cowboys.
04:15But the focus here is on the AFC, Joe.
04:17We've got NFC on opening night, and then the Kansas City Chiefs take the field
04:20and going up against the Chargers on Friday night in Brazil for an AFC showdown.
04:26But if we look at the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC, they're the favorites right now
04:29at a plus 340 price to win the AFC championship and advance to the Super Bowl,
04:33something they haven't been able to do.
04:35Schedule's certainly going to come into play.
04:37But how do you feel, Joe?
04:39The Baltimore Ravens, a week out from the season, are the favorites to win the AFC this year.
04:44And look at how they start against.
04:47They've got to go on the road to Buffalo to take on the Bills in game one.
04:52What a game.
04:53And by the way, they're not the favorite.
04:55The Bills are a slight favorite in that game there.
04:58And it's also, I think, one of the only totals, Donnie, of week one in which we got over 50.
05:04I think it was 51 and a half.
05:06I think it opened up in 52.
05:08So talk about shootouts expected.
05:11But listen, the Ravens can start off the right way, right?
05:15If they can go into Buffalo, beat the Bills at home, avenge the loss in the playoffs from a year ago,
05:23I think things will be looking up.
05:25But we all know, not an easy place to play, even in September.
05:29No, it's certainly not.
05:31And also, you're looking at the Ravens.
05:33They're no surprise to this.
05:34They've always been in that driver's seat here at pole position.
05:37Like, okay, it's us and the Chiefs.
05:38Let's see how we do.
05:39We always get good regular seasons barring massive injuries for the Baltimore Ravens.
05:43It's what they do.
05:44We get home games in the playoffs for the Baltimore Ravens.
05:46It's what they do.
05:47We also get unexplainable losses in the playoffs where they just can't put it together.
05:51But if I look at every team in the NFL to start the NFL season, NFC and also AFC,
05:57and I just go man for man right down the line,
05:59I do think, Joe, the Baltimore Ravens are the most talented overall team in the NFL.
06:04There are no excuses.
06:06So sooner than later, we ask the questions of Lamar Jackson.
06:08Can he win a championship?
06:10And I say, oh, he's still young at this point.
06:12But there comes a point sooner than later.
06:14It's like, hey, man, you had some unbelievably talented teams.
06:17You've gotten to the pinnacle with a chance to get to the Super Bowl.
06:20And every time you get there, you don't perform.
06:22So how does this work, Joe?
06:23Let's just say the season plays out.
06:25The Ravens, double-digit wins.
06:26We'll call it 12.
06:27They went 12-5 this year.
06:28Maybe a first or a second seed in the AFC.
06:30Playoff win, but then get bounced again.
06:33Do we just keep running it back saying, oh, Lamar Jackson will eventually get there?
06:36Or when do we start to say, like, yeah, he's good in the regular season.
06:39He's just not clutch at all.
06:42Yeah, but it's got to happen sooner rather than later, right?
06:47I mean, how long?
06:47We all know the window isn't open forever there.
06:51But they do have one of the better rosters.
06:55They've got a whole lot of young players.
06:57They've got guys, anchors, that they've locked up now.
07:02So I think this is, we're in that time frame now where it's put up or shut up time for Lamar.
07:09Forget about MVPs.
07:10Forget about everything else.
07:11The only thing that matters for this Ravens team and Lamar Jackson to cement their legacy is he's got to get to the big dance and win it all.
07:21Yes, he does.
07:22There's only one option left for him.
07:24MVPs, great regular seasons, Hall of Fame career.
07:26You've got to win that Super Bowl.
07:27And the pressure starts to melt every single year.
07:30You don't get it done.
07:31Because as we said, that team is really talented, but they're talented every year.
07:34It's a great organization.
07:35Got to get over the hump sooner than later.
07:37One of those teams that's looking to get over the hump also and get back to a Super Bowl when they lost four straight in the 1990s, that's the Buffalo Bills.
07:44I don't like the Buffalo Bills a lot this season, but you know what I like about them?
07:48Their schedule is absolutely fantastic.
07:50I don't think this is the most talented Buffalo Bills team that we've seen since Josh Allen's been in Buffalo.
07:54Quite frankly, I think they're missing a little bit at the wide receiver position and some question marks on defense.
07:59But when you look at that opening night that we just talked about between the Baltimore Ravens, let's just say they win that, Joe.
08:04Game number two, the Jets, supposed to be not that good.
08:07The Dolphins, probably already imploding by week number three.
08:10The New Orleans Saints, the New England Patriots.
08:12Then you play the Falcons.
08:13Then you get the bye.
08:15Like, I don't like the Buffalo Bills this season, but I love the schedule, which means I probably got to really like the Buffalo Bills then.
08:22Well, I mean, listen, they're going to win the AFC East.
08:27If we're going to take them serious, they are going to win it.
08:30I mean, they've got the reigning MVP at quarterback.
08:33They've won, what, five straight AFC titles now.
08:37I don't see a game in which even this first one against Baltimore at all, I don't see a game in which they won't be a favorite here.
08:46So I can't imagine them not having the opportunity to make a run at this again.
08:53So a lot of it, I think, is going to depend on the defensive side of the ball.
08:58They had some issues on that side of the ball a year ago, but it's a quarterback league, right?
09:04You got one of the best, but the window here is closing in a big way for the Bills.
09:10So you talk about put up or shut up time.
09:13Now is the time for them and James Cook and Josh Allen and company to get it done.
09:20At least get to the big dance here so we can see whether or not, or anybody outside of Patrick Mahomes, quite honestly.
09:29MVP season for Josh Allen.
09:31Does it continue this year?
09:32Does it equate to victories?
09:32And also getting that number one seed, which is so important in the NFL, no longer two numbers, two, one and two seeds, I should say.
09:39Getting that by, just the one overall seed gets it, and that's key.
09:42And their schedule sets up wonderfully for them.
09:44The Kansas City Chiefs went to the Super Bowl last year after going 15-2 in the regular season.
09:50No Rasheed Rice for the first six games.
09:51Those six games are the Chargers, which is a road game.
09:54Hint, hint, it is a neutral site game.
09:56Then the Eagles at home at the Giants.
09:58Baltimore Ravens at home at the Jags.
10:00Then the Detroit Lions.
10:01Then Rasheed Rice comes back.
10:02How are we feeling about the 15-2 Chiefs last year entering into this season, Joe?
10:08Again, the same way I felt about Belichick and Brady all those years.
10:13It's like at some point you just have to be like, whatever, you know, go ahead.
10:18We'll see you again in the playoffs because the idea that somebody like a Denver or the Chargers is just going to overtake,
10:27that there's going to be a drastic decline in Kansas City, I think it's a pipe dream.
10:32We're all kidding ourselves.
