00:00Maybe we have that story here with Kyler Murray and him going up to Minnesota with great coaching.
00:05I'll tell you what, if you look at his first couple of years when he was in Arizona, he put
00:10some great years together and you thought he was going to be on his way with Cliff Kingsbury as the
00:14football coach.
00:15Well, it's Arizona.
00:17Nobody prospers in Arizona.
00:20That's the graveyard of quarterbacks like the New York Jets are the graveyard for quarterbacks.
00:25And here's the issue that you have up in Minnesota.
00:29They've got to figure out how to move off of that stiff J.J. McCarthy, who in God's name thought
00:34that that guy was going to be a first round draft choice.
00:38But the Minnesota Vikings, he was a bum when he was in Michigan.
00:43I can't think of the last time I watched a football game where I saw a quarterback not throw a
00:48pass in the second half and they dominated Penn State.
00:51And I'm like, that guy's not a first round draft choice.
00:54And here's another number for you.
00:56In the 34 eligible games that J.J. McCarthy is eligible for, he's played 10.
01:03And he stunk in all 10.
01:06This is them trying to get out from a bust of a player.
01:11And I think Kyler Murray could be this year's version of Sam Darnold.
01:15You get better coaching.
01:17You've got Justin Jefferson.
01:18You've got Addison.
01:20And on the other side, you've got Brian Flores in that defense.
01:24I got Minnesota as one of my dark horse football teams this year.
01:28And again, let's not forget something.
01:29Everybody in the NFC North finished over 500 this past season.
01:33So even with a stiff quarterback that you had in the building there and with Carson Wentz there, you have
01:40an opportunity here.
01:41If Kyler Murray is just functional, you're talking about Minnesota potentially winning 10 to 11 football games.
01:48I'm rooting for the kid.
01:49This guy's one of the greatest athletes I've ever seen play in college.
01:54He was one of the only guys, if I'm not mistaken, with the distinction of being a first-round draft
01:58choice with the Oakland Athletics and being a first-round draft choice in the overall pick in the NFL draft.
02:04And no one has ever done that before.
02:07I think Kyler Murray gets the opportunity to go up there and rejuvenate his career.
02:12We're seeing more of these stories, folks.
02:15We're seeing more of that type of story.
02:18You see the story down in Tampa with Baker Mayfield.
02:21Remember something, Baker Mayfield was kicked out of Cleveland, and they had to basically bribe Deshaun Watson to leave Houston
02:30to go to Cleveland.
02:31What happened to Mayfield?
02:32Mayfield also goes to Carolina.
02:34Nothing.
02:35He goes to Los Angeles, and he's taught a little bit of how to play the position watching Matthew Stafford
02:42play and sitting around a guy like Sean McVay.
02:45What happens?
02:46He gets traded, or in the offseason, excuse me, he's a free agent.
02:50He goes to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
02:52This guy was in a competition with Kyle Trask, their second-round pick out of Florida a few years back.
02:59He wasn't guaranteed anything.
03:01And now Baker Mayfield's sitting in a position where potentially Jason Light may be offering him a contract north of
03:09$50 million annually.
03:11I think good coaching, again, when you're looking at these quarterbacks, look at Matt Jones in San Francisco.
03:18You put these quarterbacks in today's game with good coaches, you're going to get a different result.
03:25Look, I've always said this topic about, you know, organizations when it comes to quarterbacks.
03:30Organizations let quarterbacks down more than quarterbacks let organizations down.
03:36Arizona, who in God's name has had any kind of success there in Arizona outside of Kurt Warner and maybe
03:43a couple sporadic years from Carson Palmer?
03:46There's been no success whatsoever in Arizona.
03:50There's been zero success with quarterbacks with the New York Jets.
03:55Coaching matters.
03:56Organization matters.
03:58Development matters.
04:00Player development.
04:01Having the right general manager.
04:03Being able to spot talent.
04:05And surrounding your quarterback with great talent.
04:08There's no question Arizona's never been able to do that.
04:12Well, Kyler Murray now has a chance to move up and go into Minnesota and to really rejuvenate his career.
04:19And I think he's going to be that reclamation project that we saw a year ago with Sam Darnold.
04:25I'm looking forward to it.
04:26I think he's going to bring a lot to the table.
04:29Kyler Murray's got all the talent in the world.
04:31Kyler Murray just needs a little bit of direction.
04:34And I think he's going to get it in Minnesota.
04:35That's a good franchise.
04:37They made a tragic mistake a year ago in quarterback.
04:40So they let Daniel Jones out of the building and they let Sam Darnold out of the building.
04:44And they stuck with that stiff J.J. McCarthy.
04:47It's time to move on.
