Minneapolis Police Chief Reveals New Details About Catholic School Shooter's Identity, Manifesto

During a press briefing on Wednesday, Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara shared new details about the shooter that killed and injured children and some adults in a fatal Catholic school shooting.

00:00My name is Brian O'Hara, B-R-I-A-N, O-apostrophe-H-A-R-A.

00:08I am the Minneapolis Police Chief.

00:11Good afternoon and thank you all for your patience as we continue to gather the facts in this investigation

00:18into this truly unthinkable tragedy that happened here earlier today.

00:24I want to make sure that we are providing the most accurate information possible

00:29particularly as we speak around our victims.

00:33At this point we know we have a total of 19 victims from this tragedy.

00:38Two were young children ages 8 and 10 that were sitting in the pews at mass when they were shot and killed.

00:46They were pronounced deceased on the scene.

00:49There were another 14 children between the ages of 6 and 15 that were injured by gunfire.

00:56There were also three adults in their 80s that were parishioners here attending mass that were also shot in this incident.

01:05The families of all of the children that have been affected have been notified.

01:11The coward that shot these victims took his own life in the rear of the church.

01:18That coward has been identified as 23 year old Robin Westman.

01:23No prior criminal history.

01:26As to the weapons used to perpetrate this horrific attack.

01:30There was a rifle, a shotgun and a pistol.

01:34All three had been lawfully purchased by the shooter.

01:39At this stage we believe that the shooter had acted alone.

01:43There is no indication of other suspects directly involved in carrying out this attack.

01:49Our investigators are working with other agencies in the process of executing four search warrants.

01:56One is for the church itself where this crime occurred.

02:00The other three are residences nearby in the metro that are related to this shooter.

02:07Additional firearms are being recovered from those three residential locations as we speak.

02:15We are also aware of a manifesto that the shooter had timed to be released on YouTube.

02:22This manifesto appeared to show him at the scene and included some disturbing writings.

02:29That content has since been taken down with the assistance of the FBI.

02:34And it now remains under active review by our investigators.

02:39We know this community is reeling and is in pain.

02:45I want to ensure everyone in our community, this parish, all of the families affected,

02:51and all of our residents.

02:53That all of law enforcement collectively, local law enforcement, our county, our state,

02:59and all of our federal law enforcement partners have been here.

03:02And we are all working tirelessly to uncover the full scope of what happened,

03:08to try and identify a motive why it happened, and whether there are any other further details.

03:14We will continue to share updates as the investigation progresses.

03:21And we remain committed to being as transparent as possible while protecting the integrity of this investigation.

03:29In a moment, I will take some questions that I am able to answer.

03:33But first, I want to bring up the principal of Annunciation School, Matt DuBois,
