00:00Huge matchup in the Mercedes-Benz Dome.
00:03We have top-ranked South Carolina playing Virginia Tech.
00:07Shane Beamer squares off against his dad's former team in the Hokies.
00:11Hokies last year, 6-7 under Brent Pryde.
00:15But Shane Beamer and Lenora Sellers potentially have their sights set on an SEC title.
00:21How do you see this game playing out Sunday afternoon in Atlanta, coach?
00:27It's going to be an emotional game for Shane Beamer.
00:30I mean, he played in Atlanta, not in Virginia Tech.
00:34But he grew up running up and down the sideline of the other team's colors with those other uniforms.
00:38That's the football that he grew up with as dad there.
00:42But he'll put a special place.
00:44He'll want to make a great showing.
00:46And he'll have his team prepared.
00:48And he'll have a little better football team, too.
00:50I remember when my brother Tommy at Clemson had to play my dad at Florida State.
00:54There was a lot of fun going on and a lot of emotion going on.
00:57But the best team usually won because you throw that stuff out.
01:01And the best team right here is South Carolina.
01:05Quarterback, one of the best in the country.
01:07Lenora Sellers, a defensive end, outstanding defensive end.
01:12They've got a better football team.
01:13Virginia Tech struggled last year down the line.
01:16Down toward the end of the season, they struggled.
01:18And I think they've got a little bit of hot seat going on with that, coach.
01:21But I'll tell you, South Carolina is one of my dark horse teams.
01:25They almost got themselves in that conference championship game and a chance for the playoffs.
01:30But I think this year, they've got their eyesight on a bigger prize.
01:34And I think, Virginia Tech, they'll win this game because they've got a better football team.
01:38But they've also got one of the best quarterbacks, at least the most exciting and most dynamic
01:43quarterbacks in the country.
01:45Oh, you talk about Lenora Sellers, right?
01:47Dual threat.
01:48He's about 240 pounds.
01:49You're talking about a team in South Carolina that was 9-4 overall before the bowl loss to
01:55Illinois.
01:56This team had won six straight games at the end of the regular season and knocked off
02:01Clemson to hand the Tigers only their fifth home loss dating back to 2015, right?
02:07This is an offense in South Carolina that loves to run the football.
02:10They average 182 yards on the ground.
02:13Lenora Sellers is very mobile.
02:15And they're going up against the front seven in Virginia Tech.
02:18That sort of wore down at the end of the regular season.
02:21Virginia Tech was 6-7 overall and lost those seven games, coach, by an average margin of
02:27defeat of seven points per game.
02:29But I felt like their season was lost on the Hail Mary that wasn't against Miami.
02:34You know, it was a 50-50 ball.
02:36It went in favor of the Hurricanes.
02:38It seemed from that point on, Virginia Tech sort of wrapped it up and just walked through
02:43the motions at the end of the regular season.
02:46You know, and that'll happen.
02:47When you start getting a negative, the Bluebirds start out there and they get on Coach Fry,
02:52the head coach, they blame him.
02:54They lose a close ball game and it just builds on itself.
02:57And it began to move backwards after that game.
03:00You're exactly right.
03:01And now, really, they do have to go out there and make sure they turn this program around
03:06for Brent Fry's sake to get this thing turned around.
03:10South Carolina is just a tough one to get it turned around with.
03:13Should be a good game.
03:14There'll be a lot of emotion, a lot of excitement.
03:16There are for every opening game.
03:19But when it comes down to it, you know, who's got the best quarterback?
03:22Who's got the best overall talent?
03:25You've got to go with South Carolina on this game.
03:27You've got to go with South Carolina on this game.
