00:05country texas squaring off against ohio state followed by georgia a three to one shot alabama
00:12plus 480 and lsu with plus 650. do you feel the conference is top heavy or can we see a dark horse
00:20potentially crack the party for a college football playoff appearance well you know the sec is so
00:28good at the top and i'm talking texas georgia alabama texas alabama georgia georgia texas
00:33alabama mix them around and then lsu just a tad below that not far and then now you talk about
00:39your dark horse teams that could be right there i mean what about uh south carolina what about
00:45tennessee what about texas ain't in florida so many teams even auburn if they get on a roll because
00:50they're starting to get the talent it's a very very strong conference where you better be good at the
00:55very beginning especially if you're playing conference teams now they've got some great
01:00non-conference challenges and again the outcome of these games are not necessarily going to keep
01:05them out of the conference championship but it could ultimately keep them out of the playoffs and
01:10that's where they're going to be very careful in this big games that we open up with in the conference
01:15two of their quarterbacks arch manning and garrett nussmeyer are two of the front runners to
01:20potentially win a heisman trophy i mentioned arch squaring off against the second ranked ohio
01:26state defending national champions defense that game is a 12 o'clock kick on saturday afternoon
01:33we'll break that game down later in the week but when you look at clemson and lsu both of those
01:38quarterbacks kate klubnik and garrett nussmeyer have an opportunity to make a statement in that game and
01:44really solidify themselves not just in terms of a heisman front runner but potentially a national
01:51championship caliber team and when you see lsu at nine and nine overall 13 to one you gotta believe
01:59that brian kelly wants this game in death valley saturday night yeah if you think about who really
02:05needs this game brian kelly needs this game he's lost all of his opens first three years in a row
02:10actually for lsu it's four years in a row they haven't won their opening game and they really
02:15need this game john brian kelly i mean you watched him in post-game press conferences last year i can
02:20see the stress he knows they're expecting a winner and they're expecting the lsu fans i'm talking about
02:26they brought him in for one reason let's go to the playoffs let's play for a national championship
02:31and it hasn't happened yet got a great quarterback uh in garrett nussmeyer he's got a very very strong team
02:39uh blake baker as defensive coordinator has got some better people they are going to be an outstanding
02:43team but man do they open up with another good team it's interesting that the top three teams in
02:48the sec all have new quarterbacks and we're going to see lsu in the fourth ranked team in my mind
02:54has a returning veteran arch manning's basically new you got gunner stockton's basically new and you got
03:00ty simpson basically new at alabama so those are going to be things we've got to find out but lsu
03:05there are no surprises because i think nussmeyer is the real deal and he's going to be playing
03:11against the real deal quarterback at clemson we'll break that game down in next segment but i do want
03:17to bring up texas a&m and mike elco because you saw the board they're a 15 to one shot i feel like
03:24they're going under the radar last year they were sort of i want to say the media darlings a lot of
03:29people picked them potentially to get over their eight and a half win total they finished the season
03:34at eight and five overall but a second year in the defensive scheme led by marcel reed their sophomore
03:41quarterback levy on moss we know about their ability and physicality in the rushing attack
03:47could mike elco and texas a&m potentially make another statement and elevate to potentially a 10-win
03:54season yeah i mean when you play great defense and you've got a good running attack i think
04:00marcel reed i think there's probably still some not a big enough body of work yet to see if he can take
04:06it all the way to the championship game but the way they play if you play great defense you're in every
04:11game and you've got a chance to win them and now you've just got to win close games by running the
04:15football controlling the clock maybe winning the last two minutes of the first half the last two minutes
04:21of the second uh second half with your running attack texas a&m has that kind of football team
04:26and coach elco he's got that that uh kirby smart type of background defensive minded we're going to
04:32win with defense run the football good special teams and when you do that that's how you build a
04:38program and a&m has there's no reason a&m can't build a championship program they have got everything
04:44in the world that you need to build a champion
