00:07From juicy tomatoes to luscious pears, Europe is well known for its fresh produce.
00:12But where in the EU are the largest amounts of fruit and vegetables harvested?
00:16The EU produced 62.2 million tons of vegetables in 2024, according to Eurostat data.
00:24Spain is the top vegetable producer with 14.8 million tons.
00:28It is closely followed by Italy, with 13.9 million tons.
00:33France is in third place, albeit with a significantly smaller amount.
00:36The EU's top producers account for 55% of the total harvest.
00:40Italy is the biggest producer of tomatoes, accounting for roughly one-third of the total harvest.
00:45While Germany produced the most carrots, accounting for 18% of the total.
00:49Finally, the Dutch produced about a quarter of the EU's harvested onions.
