00:14Last year, EU production of ice cream rose by 2% to 3.3 billion litres.
00:20But which EU countries produce most of this delicious treat?
00:23While Italy may be world-renowned for its artisan gelato,
00:26it is surprisingly not the top producer of this frozen dessert.
00:29Instead, the first spot in this ranking went to Germany last year.
00:33It churned out 607 million litres of ice cream.
00:36Germany is followed by France and Italy,
00:38with 501 million and 492 million litres of ice cream respectively.
00:43The top five were rounded out by Spain and Poland.
00:45Poland was the only top producer that registered a surge in production,
00:49with output here up by almost one-third.
00:51France recorded the biggest drop among the top five producers.
00:55Overall, production was up in more countries than it decreased.
00:58The amount of ice cream exported to non-EU countries increased by 1% since 2023.
01:03Meanwhile, imports from outside the bloc rose significantly, by a quarter.

01:25and finally, Belgium, with 27 million kilograms of ice cream.
