Sox blank O's 5-0! Giolito pitches another gem, while Story hits his 200th homer! #mlb
Has Giolito proven himself as a 2/3? Thoughts on the Story redemption arc?
Transcript
00:00Alex Cora spoke to the media yesterday prior to Giolito's absolute gem of a performance,
00:06and Cora talked about how happy he is with the pitching staff and where they're currently at.
00:11He was in the bullpen, Fitz is down. How do you feel now about the depth at that spot?
00:16We got options. We still got options down there.
00:19Obviously, you know, less than a week ago, but we feel good where we're at.
00:24He was totally a candidate for that.
00:26We haven't talked about that, but there's guys available down there that I think, you know,
00:30they can do a job here at the Big League level.
00:32Okay. I mean, you get a strong outing.
00:34You brought it up from Lucas Giolito, allowing four hits, eight innings.
00:39So you got Crochet, you got Baio.
00:41Yep.
00:43You got Giolito, and then you got to figure out the four and the five.
00:47Right. But if those two, and I heard Jones, and I think it was Terp that was on with him.
00:54Keith and Terp.
00:55It was Keith.
00:55Oh, Keith and Terp.
00:56Jones would have been in the last day.
00:57You know the difference between those two.
00:59Yeah, yeah, I know the difference.
01:00Adam Jones and Rich Keefe.
01:02They were talking about Baio and where he was as a number two and, like, how good his numbers were.
01:10Like, he was literally, like, right behind Joe Ryan.
01:12So they were basically saying, if you can get Baio to stay the way he's been staying, he becomes your number two.
01:19Giolito, obviously, is your number three.
01:22And then during the postseason, you'll be able to figure that out.
01:25Now, they didn't excuse not doing anything at the trade deadline because then you would have just been able to be like, all right, now you've got four guys that can go.
01:33But if Giolito and Baio can continue to pitch like that, then, you know, this team could do damage in the postseason.
01:39What's next, Sean?
01:40Well, Trevor Story hit his 200th home run in the game yesterday.
01:44He talked after the game about that moment.
01:47And he has his eyes set on a different prize.
01:50Here was Trevor Story.
01:51Yeah, for sure.
01:52You know, just it's cool.
01:55It's a cool benchmark to hit.
01:56You know, I try to pride myself on being consistent.
01:59And I feel like, you know, the past few months I've done more of that.
02:02So, yeah, it's fun.
02:03It's a fun thing to say that I've done in my career.
02:05But right now it's more focused on the win and chasing down that division title.
02:12He also said, he went on to say he was very disappointed that Major League Baseball released the schedule on the day of the announcement.
02:21He has been good, though.
02:23Yeah.
02:23We were all over him.
02:24Yeah.
02:25And he has.
02:26He has been good.
02:27Can't say much bad about Trevor Story at this point.
02:29No, he's been a guy that this is kind of what he was in Colorado when he was healthy.
02:36So, I mean, you know, now he just, you know, as long as he can continue this, they'll be fine.
02:41They got the hitting, you know.
02:42Could you imagine if they did a collab and instead of the wallpaper of flowers, it was the schedule around the engagement photos?
02:51Would have really brought the young viewers into the game, Curtis.
02:54Sox Yankees would have popped TV ratings records.
02:57Yeah.
