00:00Well, speaking to Home Office colleagues this morning, they've received an assurance from the French Interior Ministry that this will go ahead.
00:06And this is an important measure because it means that France will be changing its maritime law to enable small boats to be intercepted within 300 metres of the shore, so that is in shallow water.
00:17It's important, but I should also say it is one of a number of measures. There is no silver bullet to this issue of the boats in the English Channel.
00:26Together with that, we are also working with the French authorities on the one-in-one-out deal, which will enable us, it's a pilot, to fly back people to France who come over here on small boats.
00:39We'll obviously be looking to operate that pilot, but it is also about changes in our domestic law as well.
00:46Our Borders Bill currently is trying to give the same powers to our law enforcement agencies to tackle people smugglers as to tackle terrorists.
00:53And as we're doing that, by the way, the reform are opposing that, as are the Conservatives in Parliament, tooth and nail.
