Ahmad Sadeghi was spotted departing from the Canberra embassy on Wednesday August 27, 2025, after becoming the first ambassador to be booted by the federal government since World War II. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced the expulsion after Australia's spy agency said it had "credible evidence" that the Iranian government directed at least two attacks on Jewish premises and was suspected of involvement in others.
