Australia accuses Iran of organising antisemitic attacks and expels ambassador

The Australian government has cut diplomatic ties with Tehran and expelled its ambassador amid accusations the country organised two antisemitic attacks.

00:00Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese accused Iran of organising at least two anti-Semitic attacks in Australia
00:09and said his country would call diplomatic ties with Tehran in response.
00:14According to Albanese, Iran directed arson attacks at a kosher food company in Sydney and a synagogue in Melbourne.
00:23It's likely Iran directed further attacks as well. These were extraordinary and dangerous acts of aggression orchestrated by a foreign nation on Australian soil.
00:38They were attempts to undermine social cohesion and sow discord in our community.
00:46It is totally unacceptable and the Australian Government is taking strong and decisive action in response.
00:53The Iranian ambassador to Australia, Ahmed Sadegi, was expelled and Australian diplomats to Iran were moved to a third country.
01:01Australians in Iran were urged to strongly consider leaving as soon as possible, if it is safe to do so.
01:08Albanese also said that the Australian Government would legislate to designate the Iranian Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organisation.
