00:01Hello and welcome to another edition of Look Around London.
00:04The Millennium Bridge is one of London's most striking landmarks.
00:09Opened in June of 2000, it's a steel suspension bridge crossing the River Thames, linking
00:14St Paul's Cathedral on the north bank to the Tate Modern Museum on the south bank.
00:20Nicknamed the Wobbly Bridge, it became famous just two days after opening, when pedestrians
00:25felt it sway dramatically.
00:27The problem was lateral excitation, basically people's footsteps unintentionally matched
00:33the bridge's natural motion, amplifying the sway.
00:37Engineers closed it for almost two years, adding dampers to absorb the movement.
00:42Today, it's perfectly stable and offers some of the best views of London's skyline.
00:47The bridge has also starred in pop culture, appearing in films like Harry Potter and The
00:52Half-Blood Prince.
