Auburn Tigers head coach Hugh Freeze likes what he sees from new starting quarterback Jackson Arnold ahead of the Tigers' first game on Friday night against the Baylor Bears.

00:00Jackson I think is progressing every practice and I'm excited to see him go
00:05and compete in our mock game that we had. I thought his decision-making was
00:12really good. I wish he'd hang in the pocket a little more and and go through
00:19his progressions and we're working on that with him but at the same time you
00:24know he's an athlete that that creates some things too when when he does escape
00:28the pocket and so you you have to balance that as a coach I think but he he made
00:36good decisions. We've got to make sure again that we're not doing too much
00:42where our receivers we want them in the right spots at the right time and making
00:47sure because I think we're athletic enough there to to win just be sure
00:53we're not making stuff up you know on a given play because you think you see
00:58something or just just do what the play is designed to do and I think we're
01:03good enough there to win and get open and that will help our quarterbacks. It'll be
01:08interesting you know how we protect in this game with all the different exotic
01:13blitzes that they have. You know we've got a good plan for that I think but
01:18Jackson is I'm pleased with this progression also pleased with Deuce and
01:22and Ashton. Deuce in the mock game the other night was seven for seven and looked
01:27like nothing fazed him and again I know it's not against Baylor or but he was very
01:35accurate stood in the pocket through the ball and was was really impressive and
01:39Ashton did some really nice things also so but pleased with where Jackson's at
01:44excited to see him go and and see what he does under the lights here Friday night.
