Taipei is hosting this year's Asia for Animals Coalition conference. But some groups organizing the event feel that when it comes to animal welfare, Taiwan still lags behind.

00:07Some of the organizers say the country still falls behind on issues like fish and livestock,
00:13and they want to see more government coordination to solve that.
00:30The Agricultural Ministry says it hopes for a cultural shift among animal farmers and meat producers
00:37so that animal welfare is not just a legal matter.
00:41President Lai Qingde also spoke on the importance of animal welfare,
00:45saying that treating all life with respect is the mark of a truly great country.
